Saw them live, met & hung out with them & they even called my daughter & son during their times in hospital to raise their spirits! They're truly phenomenal musically and as people ❤️
Yo I accidentally saw them live at Red rocks and was completely blown away they were so much fun and awesome to watch and hear. They weren't even the headliner and just stood out so much that I was so super impressed.
@@cavecookie1 Its just soo bouncy and bright and happy sounding. But the lyrics are gruesome and the whole after I countdown 3 rounds I'll be in good company - one for the cheating wife, one for the cheater, and one for him the singer... but, yeah it just. Bouncy!
This reminds me of a musical journey I took a few years ago. It started with Nathaniel Rateliff "SOB" --> Dead South "In Hell I'll Be in Good Company" --> Shakey Graves "Roll the Bones" --> Colter Wall " The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie" All great music. Of them, I think I appreciate Colter Wall's catalog of work the most, but "Roll the Bones" is just phenomenal.
If I don't feel like doing the bulk shopping, but I have to, then I play this song in the department store and walk through the store like the guys in the video. That is fun. I've had the song in my playlist for a few years.
Bluegrass ... Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Del McCoury, Osborne Brothers, Junior Sisk, Steve Martin, Allison Krauss, Allison Brown are all names to remember and listen to. Along with The Dead South.
LOVE watching your reaction to these guys! I discovered them last night, watched Red Rocks concert and the Boston House of Blues concert back to back...and googled everything I could find on them. To use your words, "I'm in LOVE!"
What makes this song great is it is about a man walking in on his wife who is cheating on him he gets mad shoots her the man and himself thus in hell I will be in good company the name of the song if you really listen to the lyrics
Fade to Bluegrass - Ironhorse - Metallica in bluegrass Steve N Seagull - Ac/Dc in bluegrass Hayseed Dixie varios rock/pop in bluegrass. The Cleverlies - various artists in bluegrass
So, you'll want to check out their concert at Red Rocks ...AMAZING!!! I realize you can't react to a full 45 minute concert, but check it out on your spare time... I do it all the time! Very good sound quality at that venue and it shows up in the production.
Nice reaction love this band so much. I can suggest you the Ruby Friedman's song "i'm not your friend" en the band gangstagrass so fine too. greatings from France. long live to your channel
Tons of online discussions about the lyrics - who got killed, what happened then, etc. Very dark lyrically. It seems like you were too enchanted with the style, the presence and the voices to notice how deep the lyrics are. I hope when you played it to your wife you were able to catch more of what this tune is actually about.
I just watched your face go from doubt to intrigue to smitten in about five seconds time and I'm only two minutes into the video and only one complete sentence has been sung. Hell ya.
I like this song, though I must admit, I can and have listened to this on repeat, but have never looked up anything else by them. I just like this so much I don't want to NOT like something else. Here's a raspy guy for you: Paolo Nutini. Almost everyone reacts to Iron Sky recorded at Abbey Road Studios, you could do that, or do the other one from that set: Let Me Down Easy.
I don't know if this fits under any genre. This is so different from the traditional bluegrass I grew up with. I won't introduce it to dad because he won't appreciate it, but I like to think of it as my banjo music, so I won't feel so guilty about not regularly choosing music with banjo in it. Dad plays 5 string banjo in that traditional fast fingerpicking style.
The killing (after the stabbing of the husband with that knife) was three rounds - for the cheating wife and her lover, and then for himself to avoid the hangman's rope. At least that's how I interpret it.
The band actually made a video saying that the song is about how he caught his wife cheating so he killed her, but he still loved her, and after committing murder he will be in hell in good company (with her)
Just doing the random of everyone listning to this song. All I can say is I can't stop listning to it I love it. And I'm a Catholic it's about life depicted being worse than hell finding people better company there becaue of the evil wifes actions. The lyrics and tune are so good and insturments are like an unholly orgasim I can't stop listning to it. Jesus help me these guys are good!
A kindred spirit!! I've been requesting Clutch on almost every one of Tom's videos. It's nice having a little backup haha. Definitely giving your recommendation a Thumbs-Up and a "Hell Yeah!!" Cheers!
If you want to hear the other bearded guy sing more check out their song Banjo Odessy! They all contribute vocals on every song. ua-cam.com/video/5y4qmWF9TIM/v-deo.html
They’re from Canada but this is 100% American Blue Grass/Country music. There’s a touch of American Western in some of their songs and YES they are dang good!
Saw them live, met & hung out with them & they even called my daughter & son during their times in hospital to raise their spirits! They're truly phenomenal musically and as people ❤️
That's one of the top 5 coolest things I've ever heard!
Happy song, about grusome things,...
Yo I accidentally saw them live at Red rocks and was completely blown away they were so much fun and awesome to watch and hear. They weren't even the headliner and just stood out so much that I was so super impressed.
I listen to this a few times a week. Strange combo of dark lyrics with beautiful voices and funny dancing.
I like the minimalist arrangement. Banjo and bass...and snapping fingers!
@@cavecookie1 Its just soo bouncy and bright and happy sounding. But the lyrics are gruesome and the whole after I countdown 3 rounds I'll be in good company - one for the cheating wife, one for the cheater, and one for him the singer... but, yeah it just. Bouncy!
THEY ARE A SASKATCHEWAN , CANADIAN BLUEGRASS BAND
The Dead South have a lot of great songs. Watch some of their live stuff and you will realize how talented and fun they are.
Agree
The Dead South rocks! and they write most of their music. no this was filmed and played in each venue and edited.
Accidentally found these guys and I have been smiling ever since!
They are my new favorite. I listen to them throughout the day and night. This is really the first new musical style I’ve heard in years. Love them!
Saw them live in the Netherlands they're more like punk-folk. Great concert!!
Folk punk, but they’re more bluegrass
I remember when I first discovered this song, my reaction was about what your is. Nice reaction!
This reminds me of a musical journey I took a few years ago. It started with Nathaniel Rateliff "SOB" --> Dead South "In Hell I'll Be in Good Company" --> Shakey Graves "Roll the Bones" --> Colter Wall " The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie"
All great music. Of them, I think I appreciate Colter Wall's catalog of work the most, but "Roll the Bones" is just phenomenal.
Tom, The Dead South has a video of "you are my sunshine" which would be great to see your reaction on.
If I don't feel like doing the bulk shopping, but I have to, then I play this song in the department store and walk through the store like the guys in the video. That is fun.
I've had the song in my playlist for a few years.
These guys are just as good live as they are in studio
Like his voice? Check out Colter Wall "The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie" original 16 brewery sessions.
Great suggestion! Colter has a great voice reminiscent of the late great Johnny Cash and I love it! Cheers!
Colter Wall Brewery sessions is f'ing fantastic! Sleeping on the blacktop is also amazing.
also, check out Roll the bones by Shaky Graves. Also, Ben Caplan, Down to the River. To me, these songs speak in to my soul.
Colter is god

I'm a 16 year old banjo player and love there music
Saw them live in Halifax Nova Scotia a couple years ago. Amazing band. From Saskatchewan. Love the reaction. Cheers.
Dead South is amazing! Great song
It was done in all those locations. You can see the bass player’s hair length change over the time of filming.
JUST SAW THEM IN SPOKANE, WASHINGTON ON DEC. 22, 2021
WATCH THERE OFFICIAL VIDEO OF YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE!!!!¡!
Awesome reaction lol, real fun to watch.
I love this band, they made me learn the banjo, so grateful!!
What makes this song great is it is about a man walking in on his wife who is cheating on him he gets mad shoots her the man and himself thus in hell I will be in good company the name of the song if you really listen to the lyrics
count down three rounds.
I had this on repeat for days when I first heard it XD
Love the banjo! They’re just smooth!
This is the song that got me hooked on The Dead South years ago. Still love it.
Fade to Bluegrass - Ironhorse - Metallica in bluegrass
Steve N Seagull - Ac/Dc in bluegrass
Hayseed Dixie varios rock/pop in bluegrass.
The Cleverlies - various artists in bluegrass
I love how the lead vocal and harmony end going in opposite directions at the end of the verses.
I love this band :)
Plus, I scored tickets to see them in Spokane in two weeks!
My favorite band currently
So, you'll want to check out their concert at Red Rocks ...AMAZING!!! I realize you can't react to a full 45 minute concert, but check it out on your spare time... I do it all the time! Very good sound quality at that venue and it shows up in the production.
The editing is brilliant.
They have a lot of albums and on UA-cam. Their video at Redrock is awesome.
Freakin' Amazing was the exact same reaction i had first hearing them!
Love the group
Nice reaction love this band so much. I can suggest you the Ruby Friedman's song "i'm not your friend" en the band gangstagrass so fine too. greatings from France. long live to your channel
I love these guys so much...
If you liked this....check out their "That bastard son". That's when they really cut loose and show their skills....wow.
Check out their version of You Are My Sunshine and People Are Strange.

I just watched your face go from doubt to intrigue to smitten in about five seconds time and I'm only two minutes into the video and only one complete sentence has been sung. Hell ya.
The guy on bass is a full time aerospace engineer.
They have SO MANY great songs. If you don’t mind I recommend ‘Good Lord’ and ‘Broken Cowboy’.
Watch their concert at the Boston House of Blues - won’t be disappointed!
If you haven’t heard their song “Black Lung”, check it out.
I don't know if this fits under any genre. This is so different from the traditional bluegrass I grew up with. its bluegrass in the same way early neil young was country
@@Tacocheesecake Thanks. I'm probably, subconsciously too influenced by dad's narrow definitions of genres like bluegrass and country.
I would love to see your reaction on Travellin' man, by The Dead South...😉
have always loved these guys and this has got to be the best toe tappin, finger snappin song about killing your husband ever sung
The killing (after the stabbing of the husband with that knife) was three rounds - for the cheating wife and her lover, and then for himself to avoid the hangman's rope. At least that's how I interpret it.
The band actually made a video saying that the song is about how he caught his wife cheating so he killed her, but he still loved her, and after committing murder he will be in hell in good company (with her)
Also “after three rounds I’ll be in good company” refers to the 3 bullets he used. Her, the other person, and himself.
What did Sarah think of it? This is pretty new to me too, not what I usually listen to but they’re pretty good!
They are from Saskatchewan Canada 🇨🇦
can you please react to their songs "People Are Strange" and "You're my Sunshine"? :D
Just doing the random of everyone listning to this song. All I can say is I can't stop listning to it I love it. Try The Hu song Wolf Totem for a little mongol metal for a different sound... oh and The Dead South is a good ole Saskatchewan group.
Listen to our bastard son, you’re gonna love it
This song came out 9 years ago, Rainman.
It was done on the road. No green screen.
From Saskatchewan, man
Hamilton, Ontario and the T .
Its earworm :D
Check out the song "Electric Worry" by Clutch. Think you'd really like their style and voice.
A kindred spirit!! I've been requesting Clutch on almost every one of Tom's videos. It's nice having a little backup haha. Definitely giving your recommendation a Thumbs-Up and a "Hell Yeah!!" Cheers!

This band is the Led Zeppelin of bluegrass
Welcome to Canadian music.
From things I've read, banjo guy is a metalhead when he isn't doing this stuff.
Please react to CLUTCH (the best band you've never heard of ©). I suggest for your first go, either Electric Worry (their most well-known song), Burning Beard, 10001110101 or A Quick Death In Texas.
FYI...this same comment will appear ONLY if I have watched your reaction video. I am not here to spam your channel...I just want to help get a great band some much deserved recognition. P.S....I will always give your reactions a thumbs-up, even if I don't care for or like the band or song you react to...because I like you and your channel.
Cheers!
If you like different Doug and the Slugs Or the band Sparks!
@TomTuffnutts they travelled to all the destinations in the vid noy green screened
The Dead South - Black Lung
Good Canadian boys.
Check out ‘The Good Lord’ or ‘Broken Cowboy’.
But the harmony though.
I love it
Like it a lot!👍
Try some Honeywagon and Cleverly's or ironhorse
The song is about a guy who finds and kills his cheating wife..and knows he's going to hell for it...kind of dark...
Fun
i love rock muisic, but you gotta try Ryan Upchurch. his biggest hit , Rolling Stoned.
and if you want to continue with the Canadian theme try " Glorious Sons , Mama.
Oddball like me around 11 to 17. Enjoy your youth.
Sorry, I've yet to see the banjo payer sing. But I've been so stuck on tis one I've only listened to a few others.
