After a blogger discovered a young Morrissey's criticisms of The Ramones from an article back in 1976, the singer addressed his comment in a new interview. Not only does he no longer think the Ramones are "rubbish" but he had nothing but praise for the punk pioneers: "When I bought the Ramones first album on import, I was enraged with jealousy because I felt they had booted the New York Dolls off the map. I was 100% wrong. Three days after writing that Ramones piece, I realized that my love for the Ramones would out-live time itself. And it shall. Well, it virtually has already. If the Ramones were alive today, they'd be the biggest band in the world."
ramones werent punk pioneers.Punk was never formed when they started in 1974..They certainly started nothing in the UK when they came here and if it wasnt for the Sex Pistols The Smiths more than likely wouldnt never have happened because he saw them Free Trade Hall in 1976 Manchester Uk.The Sex Pistols got the ball rolling and put punk on the global map for real.
@@brianmorecombe2726well to that point the Sex Pistols meant little to nothing here in the US…hell the Sex Pistols aren’t close to the most important British punk bands in the US…sure people love the branding but beyond that I feel like most people even within the punk scene would be hard pressed to name 3 Sex Pistols songs

I always thought the 'second verse, same as the first' was pure Ramones, but then I heard Peter Noone shout it before the second verse of Herman's Hermits 'Henry the Eighth': 'second verse, same as the first'. Wonder when Joey heard that. Amazing to hear our heroes' influences.

Respect. Steven's come a long way from being a young guy who wrote a letter published by NME (maybe Sounds?) trashing the Ramones. He's since explained he liked them but resented them stealing the NY Dolls thunder.

@@brianmorecombe2726 Exactly, the true pioneers of punk are the MC5 and the Stooges.
The bass player's doing it right.
His legs aren't quite far enough apart lol
Thats whats i was thinking too! lol. Down-picking or gtfo
guitarist's got no guts :P
Downstrokes 🌟
Solomon was forever playing that way. Even to ballads. As Ziggy said "boy could he play guitar"
This actually sounds really good, jeez
Knows exactly what he’s doing.
Morrissey and his band NAILED this song. What a cover!
Keeping the Ramones alive. Good on 'em
Love it! Second verse....same as the first! Ramones...Morrissey....what else can one ask for!

everything is beautiful for 1:34 min in universe
my best singer singing one of my fave songs ever
El mismísimo Morrisey versionando a los mismísimos Ramones!!
完璧🎉 日本からモリッシーとラモーンズに愛と感謝を贈ります❤
Love The Smiths, Morissey's first solo albums and the first four albums by The Ramones...
Thank you very much Morrissey🤘
Stevie Ramone, the lesser-known of da bruddas.
Belíssima interpretação
He sounded just like Joey

Morrissey covering the Ramones. I’ve seen it all
I was not expecting this when I went
I'm loving it.
Smashed it.
Forever brilliant 😊
Great!
Morrissey nailed it.

So bad ass
O ya. Go mo!!!
DOWN STROKES ONLY!!!
Mozzer Ramone....
❤
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love It! He´s a "crack".
But did he cry?
Would've been better if he danced around like it was 1985
Holy shit morrisey likes something
I don't know who this is but he actually sang it flawlessly
The "waOhh" has a delightful sort of deranged beagle quality. The Moz. None like him. Heh.
Downstroke please Boz!
If i pretend he's a a thunderbird puppet i can justabout stomach it. If you're a non-convert this is total gash BTW.
the bass player is the only saving grace to this cover
What?
The only one taking the Ramones seriously here is the bass player. The others are just pretenders, Morrissey included.
At 1:04 .... Judy is a ×××t ????
Most likely she is 🤣🤣🤣
this is weird
🤢
Boy, talk about ZERO energy
Also what's with the: aahh-wooo. Thing he does. That's not how Joey sings it.
Good. God. Awful beyond words
My favorite singer singing my favorite song of my favorite band, dreams come true!!!!!
Perfect trio 😊
Can you imagine Moz fronting a "new" Ramones? I can, it would be fucking insane!
Digo o mesmo. Salve, Ramones!
Brave!!
Steven Ramone!
Omar Gadea The Morrissones!
Dontcha mean "Stevie"?
@@53rdAndThird nice save!
I love anyone who loves The Ramones, and this is a bloody good cover in a way only Morrisey could do.
You poor little fool that gave a thumbs down...
Respect. Steven's come a long way from being a young guy who wrote a letter published by NME (maybe Sounds?) trashing the Ramones. He's since explained he liked them but resented them stealing the NY Dolls thunder.
First time I hear this. I know that he wrote a letter to NME that Sparks - Kimono My House should have been album of the year.
Morrissey and Ramones 4ever!
Nice...but down strokes only on guitar.
Nerd
I should have put some laughing smilies
That's because he's not doing a cheap Johnny Ramone impression.
Vocally that beats ANYONES Ramones cover imo 🤘🤘🤘
Awesome version. Argentina and The Ramones for ever ❤
seriously can't stop watching this!! I'll always be true to you
top draw mozza
teenage morrissey wouldn’t believe his ears
Spectacular!
Wow! What a GREAT cover! Speechless!
fuck yeah
Bloody hell this actually works.
Life is great love Morrissey.
Delightful.
Judy is a Punk Yeah...ouwwww
I can't believe this! I just love it! Punk and Morrissey ❤️
Morrissey has always loved punk rock!!!
Morrissey's first band was punk! The Nosebleeds.
In a way this is a very morissey song
Saw Morrisey holding court outside a Ramones gig in Manchester 1977
Have my respect. Much respect for people who knows to say "I'm sorry".
ÍDOLO!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah!!! I'm a punk 🤘🤪
Respect
wonderful cover - Morrissey absolutely smashed it
Nice version !
Very good👏👏👏
Awesome! maybe this is how he pictured his self with The Nosebleeds or Slaughter and the Dogs?!
Wow ... this cover sounds awesome ..... just needs to be a bit faster !!!!
Majestic !
debería ser con down-picking, pero buenísimo el cover igualmente
Not fast enough... He's a god but this is at 70% speed... It has to be much faster..
It's a joke, isn't it?
Morrissey. Are you going to be mentally ill?
