The real problem with open class is the judging. The judges continue to reward guys who are clear oil abusers. Then the young guys see that look being rewarded and they follow suit thinking that’s the path to victory. It’s a vicious cycle. But it all starts with the judging.
Classic Physique should get rid of the weight restrictions and be the new and only Mr. Olympia. No fridges, no midgets, just tall aesthetic greek gods on stage.
I don't know how many times I've thought this to myself. Classic is the look that people should aspire to have. Even though it's unattainable naturally it's a lot better than what the open guys look like and I'm willing to bet they are probably a lot healthier. Open body building is entertaining for obvious reasons but I would think that CBUMS physique is widely recognized as the pinnacle of fitness and open bodybuilding is the pinnacle of how far can you take it. Just my opinion though , I could be wrong.

Lui is still the best when it comes to bodybuilding coverage and commentary. I remember watching Lui live on UA-cam for his coverage of the 2015 Mr Olympia.
The olympia open should simply require a certain threshold window for body fat and water retention. 3 hours before the show you get tested... If you qualify you're in if not you dont qualify.

As I did comment before, large entities, wealthy entities do very shrude policies, if you listen closely, there are now comments from so many top figures online/podcasts calling classic physique, classic and they never use the term bodybuilding. They also have refused to acknowledge Chris as a Mr. Olympia, Phil Health made very shady comments the last Olympia about people calling the other divisions Mr. Olympia and there is only 1 Mr. Olympia and that is from the Open Class. I can ramble on but the point I am trying to make is that the system seems rigged and allowing classic to take over is not allowed now, I say not now because History has shown that intelligence prevails but it may come much later. What may happen is classic replacing what is currently going on and the weight caps adjusted. 300lbs is now a number that gets thrown around like it is nothing, media journalists like Ivan think 300lbs is nothing now, Regan is small, he needs to be 350 in the off season at least and so on. The sport has issues, Chris brought me back and I am sure so many others and new comers to the sport, in my opinion, he is the best of this decade across all weight categories, I am thinking that he could be the best the sport has every seen by a small margin due to certain attributes he has, for example Shawn Ray did not have his width but Chris has the potential to beat him in every category assuming his flaws are fixed, Flex Wheeler keeps being spoken about, he was a synthol abuser, not sure if he should be in the conversation. A new category named 'Heavy Classic Physique' (with a heavier ratio of weight:height than the current 'Classic Physique') would make a huge change in bodybuilding hystory. Imagine athletes like Rafael Brandão, Regan Grimes, Michael Moore, Marcelo De Angelis Horse... in a shape extremely ripped, more shredded than in their appearance on the stages in open category. Actually, ifbb should also use the 'heavy classic physique' category to substitute the 212, which is highy unfair with middle height athletes (there is no sense that Eduardo Correa needs to weight as low as Shawn Clarida).
I fully agree with this. But we also can’t forget that it’s also the audiences who had asked for freaks to get bigger, leaner and scarier. In their view everything below the last best one is a failure. The sport has gone to far but there is always time for this to be reversed and promote health above all else. Maybe even have doctors review the top 3 athletes in the Olympia and disclose how healthy or otherwise they really are and you can’t win if you’re below a certain level of health

I follow both, to be fair. Classic is, for me, a continuation of the bodybuilding that I first got into in the late 70s, when Zane was king. But with CBum so dominant, it's a bit dull right now. Open is entertaining in a freak-show sort of way, and there's a lot going on between the top guys.
It would be awesome if this video changes the course of the ifbb once again. The same way Lui did with his original video introducing the concept of classic physique.

100% agree on this message. The Classic Physique guys will take over open Mr Oilympia. It'll get to a point where the Open bodybuilding will get old & not pleasing to look at. If they increase weight limit on Classic physique, it'll go down hill from there & become another open bodybuilding show. Open bodybuilding peaked in the 90's and early 2000's then gradually went downhill. 1993 when Dorian Yates came in huge was a sight to be seen, nowadays it's just the norm & boring (in my opinion).
Your videos will save lives and hopefully future lifes of young men and now a lot of young beautiful women in bodybuilding. You should see these women on here doing bikini who are using gear after 2 years of working out if that and it’s a real epidemic. As a sober addict and ex bb addict I know the compulsion. But as you age you most of us learn self control and wisdom but when your young your not thinking about 10 years from now when your 35 or 55 and you only get one body and one heart that has to last you forever. If you can’t be a top natural pro then you won’t be a top Olympia pro just stay natural. Also trt is bullshit medically less then 1% of the population has low test so these guys on here pushing coupon code for trt clinic really piss me off pushing that onto young audience who doesn’t need it but once you start trt you become a life time patient when you shut down natural production
I don't like the lack of aesthetics in open they are rewarding vacuuming just look at the top 3 but this won't save open class if they keep using SEOs and going bubble bonanza.
I used to love open bbing. Now doing the sport myself I can day I'd never want to look like one or live out the misery it is to be one. I feel though I may be able to do classic and do decently well which has just made me live the sport more.
I think classic bodybuilding is following the same footstepps as open, meaning I think the competitors are getting bigger and bigger. As some ppl already mentioned, in the end it falls on the judges. They are rewarding the bigger guys, that sends the wrong message.
I completely agree they need to make classic the main show. But you know we have to take things to the extreme so there needs to be stricter guidelines and health checks for open. Make them take a mandatory 3 months off after every Olympia that’s a good start and make them take blood work and test to prove they are off the gear. Then make them do ekg and other tests every 3 months year round to be in the ifbb. I want classic to be the main show but unfortunately that’s not going to happen I don’t think so something needs to be imposed on them to make it healthier and not so extreme. Walker pushed his body to its limit for him to go further he is going to rich piana himself he doesn’t have the genetics he made top 3 he should be very proud with that and leave it there and downsize greatly if he wants to see 40

I'm no a bigorexia guy. I'm lifetime natty, and I like my physique. I just don't care about classic tbh. Arash was good, I like Peter Molnar, I like Ruff Diesel, but in general, I don't care about the lineup. I probably won't even watch it this year. Might watch the routine of Richard Nagy, cuz he's from my country, but that's all. It could be because of cbum's reign. It reminds me of the Michael Schumacher era. Anyway. I will be watching open, it will be interesting, even though Ramy, Krizo and Nick are out. Classic? Just doesn't interest me.

I disagree. The standards of open just need to go back to what they were in the early stages of bodybuilding. Dangerous levels of mass and conditioning are the problem. Bodybuilding needs to go back to shape, symmetry, aesthetics, etc. We don’t need 300 pound monsters on stage. We also don’t need guys pushing diuretics to come in super shredded. If we pushed classic all short guys would be pushed out of the sport or down to 212. Classic is dominated by taller guys.

Guys like Brandao, Andrew jacked, Samson, etc. Should the standard for men’s open. Just impose better standards. The weight caps in classic are keeping us from seeing some really awesome physiques because they’re too restrictive.
