As much as I love the settlement building option, I just do the bare minimum. Such a beautiful and well thought out build. This definitely gave me inspiration. Thanks!
What is the bare minimum for you? For me, it's a hallway end under metal prebuilts. 1 or 2 beds, a light, a metal wall doorway, and a red door. I used to put a rug down first with a foot locker under each bed. Sometimes, it's just a bunch of sleeping bags in walls under a roof though.
@jhackofalltrades enough sheltered beds and food for the settlers. Either a water filtration or well. Don't really have many parts to build up every settlement with defense. So, all settlements except for sanctuary have turrets. Still on my first play through, still learning.
The console commands to get rid of something permanently is markfordelete. I usually target something, then disable it. If it's the correct thing, markfordelete. If I got it wrong, enable to bring it back. Handy to cleanup the front of hangman's alley bc it's my house now.
I like that. I have tried so many times to make the existing house useable and it never seems right. That is a LOT of automated defense as well. I really like your market/dock area. I think I will try that soon. I tend to leave my shopkeepers in clothing not dressed in military attire but I did think about the idea of using some ballistic weave on their clothes. The only ones in uniform are guards/artillery personnel.
when I was fighting the glowing one in the top of the lighthouse, I was targeting in VATS with sn explosive shotgun and he flew tf out of the window into the water... like way out. I haven't seen him since. 😂😂😂
Hey Grey, you're doing great things with no mods. Love the revisit to Kingsport. I don't know if Oxhorn also put the generator in the dock house but if you saw my Kingsport video around 3 or 4 years ago I used the space for a generator as well, though I put a gas generator in the shed and hid a fusion generator below the dock. It might just be that that building makes people think of a generator room Lol. I'm still working with modded play/building but love watching your unmodded stuff 👍
In service of a certain post-war opulence, one may combine the glass half-size walls with the black metal struts in the warehouse section. Placing the struts over each vertical wooden divider on the glass walls makes for a beautiful, even baroque aesthetic. A lot of struts are used in the end, but the look is a strong one. Note that the draw distance on the half-sized struts is far shorter, so use only the long struts.
I put a small genny and four hanging lightbulbs in the top of the original lighthouse; it looks great at night (sadly not visible at long distance though).
Thanks for your videos. I am having so much fun with FO 4 Settlements these days. To think I didn't even like the feature the first time I played the game :)
Can you show the build limit meter at some point in your videos so we can get a sense of what's left to play with? Also I'd love a review of the creation club workshop stuff
@@Theegreygaming I tend to to overboard... vault 88 reactor tons of turrets buildings machines of all sorts. Traps are fun... I try not to anymore.. so many build able things, so many mods.
Just catching up on videos I have not seen yet, when I was last at Kingsport I built my tower similar to yours but larger and wrapped around the old lighthouse with a larger 3 story block house attached to one side. While it was a pain to "attach" the new construction to the old and block the 'fall hazards' the result is more spacious and a wide top area. To get rid of the ghoul I picked it up and dropped it off the cliff-out of sight, out of mind.
I think I just strung it through a broken window but I might have resorted to a piece of conduit. I don't ever use glitches and some of my builds can get really messy with the wiring.
I like using conduit for the aesthetics the verticals are intended to get thru walls I think. But another way is to put up your generator and then any electrical connector...connect them and then move the connector outside. A broken window or hole in a wall or roof can help with that
So at this point I have watched all of your Commonwealth Contractor and Settlement Builds for Noobs videos. First, great content. Second, I feel like the two should switch names. This series seems like it would be better under the umbrella of a contractor type video, where you show off what you have done, whereas the other one shows off more tutorial-esque type stuff. But that was just a random observation. I am wondering if you have any inclination to do some actual down-to-basics building tutorials. Like I would actually like to see you plan and build a settlement from scratch, complete with how to make stuff click together. I find the whole building interface pretty user unfriendly and convoluted.
first of all, thank you for the support. it has been quite a long time since I've done anything with settlement building, and it would take quite a while to plan out and set up, but I think you're on to something with a complete tutorial on settlement building, though it probably won't perform too well.
Good settlement builds we build similar - I build with the concrete floor walls myself not a fan of the windows walls they need glass windows or something

thank you for existing grey gaming

I would recommend you check out my 5 tips and tricks series of videos, the first one starts with a nifty way to get around the build meter.
Seconded! I do not like using the trick to get past the build meter given its purpose of keeping the game running smoothly.
@Theegreygaming ya know that's there for a reason, right... that being said I have a mod that gets rid of mine.. hello massive frame rate drop 🤣🤣
@@TheOnefalcon07 yes it is there for a reason, but as long as you don't go too crazy, you shouldn't have much trouble on a modern system.

This settlement is one big safety violation. What's the number for OSHA?
Lighthouse suggestion: stool / small chair or two on each level: it's a long climb.

Very niceeee, i might try to recreate it in my game.
General there's been a second vertibird
i would love a tutorial on how you did the tower... i can't wrap my brain around it yet
Thanks you for the vidéo 🎉
Hangman's alley after ? 😊
How do you get the power from inside The boathouse, is there a way to get the wires through the wall of the building?
Use a rug glitch if your putting your conduit on the ground. If your Hanging your conduit on a wall, then use a picture.

Did you do electrical set up like how to turn on lights? Do i need switches or relays???
I’m trying to build Dalton Farm for a video
pretty epic watchtower
Did you accidentally publish this early yesterday? I swear I saw this yesterday.
I definitely watched it tomorrow ...
Thank you
How did you build so well at Kingsport?! I tried and failed... miserably!
the glowing one doesn't stay
Gray could you make something like a tutorial on the glass pent house it would be great
How did he transition from the angled floor on the stairs to a square floor at the top of the tower ?

couldn't agree more.
Do you have a video to show how you built the light house?
not this one, specifically, but I do have a generic lighthouse tutorial in my commonwealth contractor series.
I know it would be alot to ask but a tutorial would be awesome
Do you not use Place Everywhere?
nope, mod free channel
All that with no mods ?
Nice. What about size limit ?
not bad I would delete the old light house and replace it with the new one you built.
