- I Met Ralph Macchio From Cobra Kai/Karate Kid!
On August 12th & 13th of 2022, I went to Monster Mania Con in Cherry Hill, New Jersey where I met the one and only Ralph Macchio AKA Daniel LaRusso from "Cobra Kai" and "The Karate Kid!"
Before I discovered "Cobra Kai" and "The Karate Kid" I was experiencing severe depression. I was at such a low point in my life that everything felt hopeless and I felt like there was nothing in the world that would change that.
When I first watched "The Karate Kid," I was really able to resonate with the character of Daniel LaRusso. He was the kid who faced many hardships and struggled to feel like he could belong. Seeing his character progress in the film under the guidance of Mr. Miyagi was truly inspirational for me.
Then in "Cobra Kai," I continued to be inspired by Daniel as he spread the Miyagi Do teachings to the younger generation including Miguel, Sam, and Robby. Daniel LaRusso and Miyagi-Do taught me how important it is to be kind and compassionate to others. They taught me that if you put out good into the world, good will come back. And most importantly... it taught me about "Balance."
In "The Karate Kid," Mr. Miyagi tells Daniel, “You remember lesson about balance? Lesson not just karate only. Lesson for whole life. Whole life have a balance. Everything be better." This quote has stuck with me ever since I first heard it. I try and live my whole life with the mantra of "having balance." Having Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Miyagi in my mind as I navigate my way through life has helped me in so many ways.
I had never met Ralph Macchio until this convention, and I had already looked up to him because of his character in "Cobra Kai" and "The Karate Kid." Meeting Ralph in-person was even more special than I could have ever imagined. I was in awe of Ralph's kindness and compassion. His positivity was so infectious and it meant the world to me that I was able to have this experience with him.
The fact that he already knew who I was and had already watched a lot of my videos made this experience even more surreal for me! Never in a million years would I ever think that one of my biggest idols would be watching my UA-cam videos but here we are! Dreams come true! If you work hard and keep dreaming, the possibilities are endless!

I went to a fan meet and greet for a famous athlete. I was given an autograph and told to get lost.

I met Ralph at Wizard World in Philly back in 2014. You are absolutely correct about him! Very humble man. Very cool! I’m glad you got to go and experience that with him CK!

I was there at that convention. I got a photo op with him in the other room. I was in that room and saw him. His line was just so long. I first met him back in 2015 in FL at another convention. 👌🏻

Met Ralph in SLC. Totally sweet person. Met William too. Got a picture with them both. Drove all the way from Canada for the convention. Got a flat tire on the way down, caught in massive traffic, crosswinds and a thunderstorm and took a few wrong turns. It was all worth it.

When I was a kid one year I dressed up like the karate kid. A friend of my mothers lent me a Guy. And I had the bandanna. Which was awesome. I did take self-defense class. In my town. They had a class for folks with disabilities so I got the chance to learn some self-defense moves which was very important. And my mother wanted me to learn how to protect myself.

Loved your video! Thank you for showing us how humble and super nice Ralph is (he’s awesome!) I’m 50 years old, and I grew up watching the Karate kid back in the 80’s and I LOVED it, and I still do. I adore Cobra Kai, it rocks!! Even the last fight scene with Daniel and Terry was fantastic, that fight between Daniel and Kreese in season 3 is probably my favorite!!

WOW! So jealous! Ralph Macchio seems like a nice guy. I loved the Karate Kid films and I'm soo hooked on Cobra Kai. I remember watching Karate kid when I was a kid. Infact I didn;t quite see them in order. I missed Karate Kid when it came out at the cinema. I started off with Karate kid II. My Dad rented it for me from the Video shop (haha takes me back) and I loved it!
I also remember using the breathing technique from Karate Kid II when I was actually hammering nails and also when opening tight jars or bottles!
