Yo Keisuke here, just gotta say, those sport shot lanes humbled me 😂. As someone who bowled on sport shot for the first time, it was so frustrating throwing my usual shot because my usual shot would usually hook at the edge. Had a blast though and will definitely dedicate a lot of practice on sport shot. Thanks for having me!
For me its the spare shooting on sport shot that freaks me out, you have to get on the back of the ball better. I average 227 on house shot in league, and probably closer to 205 on sport shot, you lose quite a few pins.
10:50 Please never let the Boog/Brooklyn troll die. PLEASE. I will do my part by henceforth forever saying “Booglyn” instead of “Brooklyn” (shoutout to Brent for that one!)
Well, I will say Dick Weber pattern (depending on their average) probably wont humble them much if at all. But put them on the Billy Hardwick pattern and they will see instant regrets in their decision on not being prepared with ball surface, ball types, and proper aiming/release techniques.
When I started on sport shot I averaged like 130, now averaging around 180 with it and getting better at making spares, what I’ve learned is very key! Going to tournaments on sport shots has helped as well and in a league every week helps so much.
I'm thinking that string pin bowling is different from free pin bowling but that doesn't make it better or worse. Been bowling with string pins for 2 years now and have maintained my 195 average. Splits and washouts are a bit easier with the strings but strikes can be harder to always hit high flush. A light pocket hit very often leaves a 4-5-7 split. I can make those around 1/3 of the time. 5-7 split is a bit easier at about 1/2 makes. As to sport shots, they can be more difficult and cost around 20-25 pins from my usual house shot average. But I can adjust from a 20 board foot position to a 5-7 board foot position to compensate for the lower amount of hook.
yk whats funny? How theres a full like 10+ page research paper, that shows out of like 500 bowlers and 3300+ games that, the difference was about 1 pin Y'all just get mad when something changes.
@@HeyItsSloth it's not the score change that bothers me about it though, its the pin movement. It reacts differently on string pins than it does on free pins. In my experience it is alot easier to bowl string pin than it is free pin, where there is actually like a 20 pin gap in score. I would have messengers that should miss but don't because the string hits the 10 pin, and splits that I pick up more often now because of the strings. I just don't think there should have been a change, specifically because the string physically interferes with the game by hitting pins that should not be hit. I would also like your sources, if that statement is true because I have never seen that paper before. Edit: if you go to 9:10 and watch you see my point of strings hitting pins.
My high school just had a bowling club, which was just an after school bowling league who just played each other. The first time I stepped into a bowling alley, put fingers into a ball and put on bowling shoes was for a YABA Saturday morning league in 1983. Good shooting. Progress, not perfection.
WSU doesn't teach pinsetter repair. They have a BOWLING team. The lanes are exactly the same, the pinsetter is irrelevant. They aren't holding tournaments there
How awesome it must be to be a Wichita area youth bowler and have these opportunities available! Some great tips and mentoring happening in this video. Props to you, Packy. And best of luck to Keisuke!
I bowled in a sport shot for the first time a few weeks ago. It was several games before I had a clean game, and even that was 8 spares and a few strikes. But if I missed a spare I was lucky to crack 160
They set up the TOC Pattern for a sweeper tournament at my local alley. Was my second time bowling in a tournament. I had no idea where to place anything. Definitely excited to finally try some though
I'm about to start my 2nd youth sport league, and I am super excited to test my skill on a sport pattern Last year I had just started and was averaging 105 on house, now I'm up to about 180, know how to shoot spares, and hit my target most of the time I like to think I've been preparing for this all year, to see truly how far I've come
@@TheHouseBowling I've been on a few sport patterns, and I tend to average in the 170s, the main issue I run into is my speed is low enough for my spare ball to hook past 10 pins Been working on flattening my hand to avoid that issue, hoping to have at least one 600 series though
Sport shot is indeed way different. I had no idea I was bowling on one at my first time until I noticed everything was reacting way too early and moving left just put me into too much soup. First game I think I had 120. I ended up switching to urethane second game for 215. I think that game was luck, I did not play super well but I'm still appreciative of the moment I got to have. Urethane = cheat code? Maybe. It made the pattern way easier I felt, I definitely had some miss room.

Would be interesting to see you mentor this kid over some period of time. With UA-cam and track his performance. Especially because it would be educational to others.
Man i wish I can choose what sport shot or what ever pattern i would like i bowled 300 game on a house shot and the highest game i bowled on sport is 225.
bowled on my first sports pattern last year. was the dead mans curve pattern. All i knew was to keep in inside of 12, which is far from my normal shot going down 5-10 board. I did well for the first 3 games, struggled in the 4-6th, however somehow decided to throw a normal shot, it hit 5 board and hockey-sticked back. the pro's behind me couldn't believe it, so they tried... gutter.. gutter.. gutter for them lol final 2 games i had more confidence in knowing i could shoot wide, and scored a lot better
My first experience with sport shot was the opposite oddly enough , but i beleive its all in the equipment i use a Widow purple urethane and a Venom Shock in tourney , league , and house my stuff does great in tourney and house shot usually 180 avg but HORRIBLE in league been needing to get a bowl that fits the league pattern i have a nu blue but its almost never good for me on anything but will have its moments. Im sort of stuck on what to get next.. had my first tourney cash this weekend only my 2nd tourney but im a lefty so its easier for us right? 😂
Wow, Packy, you just let the kid suffer. 🤣 A simple explanation that Sports shot play the opposite of house shots would have been a nice courtesy. Then with that intel let him figure it out on his own. Also, you didn't show the scores... And Packy, when you cross over it is Jersey, not Brooklyn.
Never bowled on a sport shot xD Bowling is the biggest difference in any sport from amateur to pros based on playing surface. It's so funny to me to see people think they can compete. It's not really even the same game. The oil dictates how you play and the transition and until you understand that, you will not compete. Ignorance is bliss and some people are very skillful without the knowledge but if you think you are good and you bowl on house patterns, i can confidently say, you don't understand bowling and will never compete on tour.
Average 204 for the fall league. Go to the Open in Vegas and expect the same. Get on the sport shot, whatever pattern it was, and bowl nowhere near that. Yeah. Sport shots are a completely different animal.
Hi all! Let me show you how easy it is to know how to go to heaven. First you must understand and admit that you have sinned against an almighty God and the penalty for that sin is death. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23. Second, believe that Jesus Christ was the perfect secrifice for sin and shed his blood on a cross and rose from the dead 3 days later. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans:10:9-10 Lastly confess to God through prayer that you are a sinner and that you believe what Jesus did, and that you want him to come into your heart and save you! "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." 1 John 5:13 If you did that sincerely, I'll see you in heaven someday!!!

String pin bowling is not helping your professional career, Packy. You need the free pin lanes to be consistent. The pins definitely react better on free pins.
It does not matter what type of pins you hit If you're practicing at a professional level, you aren't guaging your ability by pin action, you're working on upping your speed a little, or working with your hand position, shooting difficult splits, trying out a new ball, etc.

Well, when you keep dumping the ball in the gutter, it doesn’t really matter what the shot is.
