  • Summer in Iceland is absolutely gorgeous but there are some things about this season that are worth knowing before your visit. I drop some nuggets on topics like whether you can see the northern lights in summer, when the official first day of summer is in Iceland (this one is a shocker), what the weather in summer is like and more. I'd love to hear if this video has been helpful for you and what other topics regarding Iceland you would like for me to talk about.

Just a quick correction - the first day of summer falls on the third Thursday of April each year, which means it can be a different day each year and not specifically April 23rd, like I said in the video. :-)

On the bright side.... 😉😁 I see what you did there! 😆 We live on the central coast of California and especially in our specific area we are so spoiled by the little bubble of mild climate for 80% of the year. If it gets above 80°F or below 60°F everyone kind of freaks out 🤣. My brother-in-law visited from Wisconsin a couple weeks ago. He was wearing shorts and flip flops the whole time, and we were wearing sweatshirts, flannels, and scarves, because it was in the mid 40°s at night and mid 50°s- low 60° during the day. He said it was 9° when he left Wisconsin 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣. Love your videos lady! It’s a nice way to start my day! I would love to know more about the history of Iceland, if there are any weird laws, what kids do for fun, what Icelanders think is weird about other parts of the world, maybe an update on how your husband is doing, if you two have plans to travel anywhere, Icelandic art... 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t know... everything Icelandic 😬 All your content is so fun and interesting 👍.

10-16 at Summer is cool, I admit, but in other places Summer isn't really so Summery either. In Poland, we usually have ca. 30 days of sunny, hot days (14-28 degrees), the rest of it can be between 12-16 with a lot of rain - July, I'm talking about you ;) (highest rain season). It's not unusual to have 1-3 weeks of constant rain or frequent rain. Dray, hot days are just few in between, for 3 months (June to August) but usually the real, typical summer happens from 21th July (when rains stop) to 31 August and if we're lucky, we could have some second Summer in September once in a few years (up to 24 degrees and a lot of sun) when we are lucky, but usually Summer ends abruptly in the first day of September, as if weather used calendar too. However, there are some years when there are exceptions, so we had in 2019 a whole June with summery temperatures and sun all the time - that probably didn't happen in the last 60 years. However, there were also Summers when there were 10 degrees at morning, 14 at the noon, cloudy, rainy most of the time.
So all in all real Summer in Poland varies and can have 14-30 days within 3 months period, where the rest of the days resembles spring or fall. That is why we like to travel to the Southern Europe where the Sun is granted.
