Really great ideas and tips Zane! Love the tip to take a flower arranging class. I had never heard of that before, but as someone who often creates floral arrangements, this is so so true!

Oh Zane, you are so spot on. The last tip you talked about is true for me, never realized why I didn't come away inspired. I would come home and find fault with my stuff. Then I would get super frustrated, and try to get my place to look the same which never worked. I am a little more mindful when looking at pictures now!

Enjoyed the tips and your insight and take on them. Food for thought. Had to chuckle at the flowers and funeral analogy because that was exactly the thought that popped into my head when I walked into a friend's home to see her new arrangement .(I kept my thoughts to myself and we are still friends.)lol

Great tip on the last one Zane, it can happen on Pinterest/magazine images too. My good friend has had her home featured in numerous magazines and she always talks about how much things are photoshopped.., even unfinished furniture redos!! Just remember not everything you see in magazines are “real life”

Absolutely. I call them “highlight reels”, things presented the way people want them to see them and what they want them to see.

Ohh also, it took me the LONGEST time to figure out my style of florals. I used to try these elaborate concoctions and like you I was like .., that looks like a funeral home. Maybe if I was actually semi decent at putting them together I could pull it off but it always felt so contrived like I was trying too hard. I’ve since found I enjoy a very laid back approach.., kind of organic like nature. Yeah sometimes they are still lush but I love that “I just went out and cut down this peony bush and tossed it in x” with still the stems (love doing this with my apple blossom branches I cut and and plop in an old container) and loads of greenery. Funnily enough it compliments my over all aesthetic

Yes! I’m the same way now. You can be elaborate in a down-played way that feels right with everything else in your space. I love that.

Thank you for the tips Zane. I loved them. I feel like we should be thankful to just have a roof over our head, no matter what. I know some people are always trying to keep up with the Jones'. Like you said, there is enough sadness in this world. We are only responsible for our own happiness. Although I do love to bring happiness to others also.

I prefer to visit a showroom that is smaller than my own. So that you got more leeway in your own room to decorate with. On the other hand, if you visit a showroom much bigger than your own room, you will have more constraint, in space, to follow what other people did beautifully in their much bigger home.
