At times I thought Jawnny's hatred for the Overdrive was a bit of a gimmick. No, no he hates it. Just the first few frames of the move, and immediately he sounds like he's been spit in the face.
Oh man, so many memories of playing this game with friends and doing horrible deathmatch bumps off the SmackDown fist and the King of the Ring throne. Seriously, that's a feature that needs to come back, I don't care it's not realistic or whatever. Here Comes The Pain is obviously a better game than this in most ways, but Shut Your Mouth was the big next-gen leap for the series (after Just Bring It was basically Know Your Role with better graphics... also, these titles are very silly when you talk about them like this) and HCTP built on that. Remember when these games would get better with each installment? Good times.

Just Bring It rightly is remembered for it's amazing commentary, but this game had it's gems too. My favourite being as follows: JR: You're puppy crazy King: I got a pocket full of puppy chow right here! JR: Yeah, me too; Here you go King! King: No need to call a Dr JR, I can help! Or during a royal rumble when someone enters, King may say "Why's he here tonight?" or "He better show up!" There's plenty more I just remember those :D
@@DWEEB-FIX Well remembered :) Another one is ff Stone Cold is in the match you'll randomly get JR saying "The Rattlesnake is down, what the hell is this?! and King says "Oh noooo!" Even if Stone Cold is totally fine. Likewise, "The Rock is not giving the opponent any chance on offense" Even if The Rock is getting squashed.
@@Robman275 Not so much remembered as recently experienced as I went back last year and 100%-ed all the PS2 Smackdown games up to 08 and one of my seasons in SYM was with Tazz

Shut Your Mouth is such a good game. Here Comes The Pain is better, but both can stand on their own. From Shut Your Mouth to Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 was a perfect string of games.

My first two wrestling video games were WWF WAR ZONE (1998, and WWF ATTITUDE (1999). Both were on PS One, but I played on PS2 because I didn’t have a PS One. I miss those games.
