    That is NOT how you use a piston ring filer! You are supposed to press the ring up against those two black stops, and squeeze it slightly. You then need to do a precise amount of turns, measure how much has been removed and creep up on the gap, counting exactly the amount of turns you are doing and measuring as you go. This is a precision tool, it's not for guesswork - the instructions on the filer should have explained all of this. You also need to deburr the edges of the gap after filing it, or else it will score the cylinder bore.

  • @APATHETIC79ENDO
    @APATHETIC79ENDO 7 місяців тому

    You can use a wax strip to get clearance of the rod bearing also you can push the ring against those black things on the ring gapper and it'll remove material from both sides of the ring

    • @APATHETIC79ENDO
      @APATHETIC79ENDO 7 місяців тому

      The clearance of the rod bearing is going to effect how much oil pressure you have so I'd just check it with a wax strip to make sure it's in spec

    CJ, can't say I've had any good experiences with Maxpeeding in the past, and they didn't help when it was a fault of there's, I'd look into using another connecting rod...

    love the vid as usual. I will make a recommendation that you dont use maxpeeding in the future, they use a subpar manufacturing process for all of their products and have been caught lying about specs on products before. love the build tho. not many people actually build a vanderhall

    CJ are you sure that you can use the manufactures specs with aftermarket parts. Cp give you a spec sheet with there pistons just check as they mite differ due to different materials. With them h beam rods you mite need to grind the bottom out of cylinders to clear

    The carbon on those injectors is perfectly normal.
    Clean them, 1000 miles later they will be exactly the same.
    Also, the stock Vanderhall weight/bhp ratio if a little too much, what is your rationale for the forged pistons/rods please?

  • @raaah
    @raaah 7 місяців тому +1

    I have a 2022 vanderhall Carmel
    And after doing some research buying it the previous engine which is I think a 1.4 from 2017 or 16 to 2018 is a different size engine than the one that's in a 2020 and up that might be why you have different specs for the piston.
    Also vanderhall is going all electric The reason is well the point is they are and GM which is where they got those engines from stop making that engine we're all engines of that type last year so vanderhall bought all the engines that were left over and inventory for their future bikes but they probably only bought enough engines to make a couple of years that's it. My point is you better start searching for parts for that vanderhole because it is super hard getting a hold even for warranty purposes parts for any vanderhall. Vanderhall does not stock their parts at all you crash or you need a warranty part it takes two three months to get your vanderhall fixed. If you go in the Facebook forums everybody's on there talking about it

    Dude, you need to be gapping them rings at the combustion point, not 1/2 way down the boar. Also check the clearance on the big ends with plastiguage. You’ve done it before.
    Then when you put it all together use assembly lube.
    Otherwise 👌👍

    YO YO YO, Yammie noob is giving away his turbo busa for free! He’ll even have it shipped to you. I don’t know man, this kinda seems like a good opportunity to build a turbo busa. HOWEVER it does need a new engine but that’s what these build series are for!!!

    Can't express enough my great disdain for plastics inside of modern engines. Plastics HATE being soaked in oil because they become brittle quickly. If it were me I would start a company that reproduces the plastic parts in metal form. My Mercedes has plastic inside of the engine so I can expect a maximum engine life of about 100k miles unless I do a major overhaul.

    When u use a piston for leveling the Pistonring in the bore there must be at least one ring in that piston as a stop. Otherwise the piston can rock in the bore and the ring is not levelled!!
    And from what do you known the bigend fits? You haven't measured anything? Do you know how much clearance it must have? It's 10th's of mm's, you cant feel that by just bolting them on! It looked way to loose for that.
    I bet that engine will chew itself to bits as soon as it's fired up!

    Hey CJ, i‘m not sure but in think you should get the Pistons Coated first on the side like the OEM ones. It reduces an huge amount of friction an increases your lifespan of the engine. Bare metal on bare metal is not the best combination :)

  • @Nultic

    Is that a direct injection motor? They look just like my GTI injectors. Those will get lots of buildup if it is direct because there's no fuel to clean the tip of it like a port style.
