Great work! I had a IT250 1982 back then. It was a great, fun and very reliable trail bike. I was running it with Castrol R. I had to shake the bike for two minutes before each new ride... Good old days, as they say.
Love it..... kudos man. Beautiful job on resto. I had 81 IT175 back in the day. Rode it into the ground. Always wanted to upgrade to newer IT250. I need to find one & do a resto like you did.... again great job
ebay is your best bet for a mikuni carb for the IT250, of you need a very knowledgeable carb restorer use a company called ‘motocarb’ in the u.k.. he has all the parts to get them working great
Wow, this looks great, man! Congratulations! I always loved the ITs -- wish they never discontinued them, esp. the 490. I've deeply scoured the New Zealand fan site for them. Where'd you find the side panels? They don't look like the vacuum molded junk. I bought a new '89 YZ250W in Dec. of 1988, but probably would have gone with an IT if it were still in production and didn't want the little KDX (although it, too, was a very solid bike). Cheers!
David Muse side panels were from a IT 250 i did a few years back always like to use the original parts if i can. they were cracked soldered and held together with heat shield tape. big following in Aus probably pick a 490 up from there. not may about lately in UK
when i bought it the engine was the strong point and it remained strong initially. during testing it lost compression so i was forced to do a rebuild! making it the most expensive IT resto on earth. But i love it and can’t wait to do the next one.
Uncle Quack initially yes, but ended up having a new wiseco , rod and bearings put in later. have the same dilemma in a 490 i’m building at the moment. piston is good rings are good bearings are fine. but the engines in bits so i’ll change the lot. before i put it together this time. you have to budget on these things and on this 250 having a good engine enabled me to go crazy having shock , forks , wheels and swing arm polished and rebuilt. Rebuilding that engine later down the line cost a pretty penny, and made that the most expensive IT 250 resto on the planet. lessons were learnt and i’ll do the whole thing myself on the 490 as it’s impossible to recover labour costs on the resto. my time on the other hand is free!
Great work man . Looks great but did you really have to mix sex related content with a classic IT restoration? WTF? My 8 year old son and I were researching rebuilds for our pair of ITs and this is what comes up. My son was listening to this video asking questions. Come on dude. Have some class.
Hi , i had to watch it again as i thought i chose the tune for a reason and can only assume you have misunderstood a lyric in the tune, it repeatedly says the word 'sick' because the bike is that. i do list all my rebuild videos as not for kids for a reason to cover myself as a lot of music i listen too is not suitable for kids and i have started dropping the tunes because of copyright issues. i have another one planned with better video content but am struggling to find the right bike. sorry if it offended you buy i really think you have misheard a lyric. thanks for watching
@@gtisid Sorry man if I did mistake the lyrics. It's certainly possible. I guess with all the crude things going down on so many social platforms I guess I assumed what I heard was correct. My bad man. Sorry about that. Great restore on the IT. It really did come out great. This was another bike model that should have never been discontinued....just like the Honda XR and the Kawa. KDX200. Keep up the great work.

Wow great job very nice. Can you tell me the measurements of the gaiters plz
it off the top of my head, but available from motoduro in the u.k. for about£40
If they re-released these I'd sell my right arm to buy one!
that’s your throttle arm🤔
@@gtisid I'd still sell it........I'd put the throttle on the left.
The old ITs were awesome (so were the PE/KDX).
How does the IT 250 compare to a yz 250 of the same year?
nor sure , longer gears and different porting on cylinder head harder suspension maybe
What's the difference between Ks and Ds?
everything
I got like 1,000 dirtbike/street bike magazines with the test articles on all of those bikes.
Hi,, I havw a one Yamaha it... Noe¡w i´m going to reataurate it...can you help me with the manual ??

less but looking for a It 465 to restore
@@gtisid Will do -- love that you're bringing them back.
Why did you put that music
Edgar Flores my favourite tune at the time
Nice!
You did all that and put the same piston and rings back in that motor?
Uncle Quack six months later it has a 1mm oversize wiseco and new rod , bearings in it. because your thoughts were the same as mine

My uncle had the IT 175 model with the speedo , I loved riding it.
Sweeeeet
I had the same bike and shouldn't have sold it.
