So in a way the standards are simply just higher in the west because its almost a societal standard. While it was very much a dumb question the dude was super respectful about it and asked the question in one of the best ways possible
But that's a fair assumptions tho? Especially for a white passing person. Im half korean and half white like her. I also didnt use my korean name. It's fair for people to think I'm a foreigner. Most halfie here actually have a korean name being part of their birthname(for example, somi mostly uses a korean name, instead of her birthname, so people knows she's korean. Another example, Han Hyunmin, a model ). It's rare for mixed kids here to not use our korean name at all. Like bahiyyih, i also didnt use mine, so people thought I'm actually from russia with my name, eventhough i was born in korea. It's not something that people should be offended on, especially when they're being respectful about it.
@@user-mAfuNqrSe020x it's really not. Because you're aiming assuming somebody who doesn't look the way you think they should shouldn't understand or speak the language?!
@@sliverhalo9286 progressive? Eh. Considering the way things have been, especially in recent years, I wouldn't call it progressive. As last not in the U.S
@@kaylapounds1359 it's a really fair assumptions. Like i mentioned, I'm also half korean and white(russian), i dont use my korean birthname, i use my russian name. It's understandable for people to think I'm not korean, because again, mix kids here usually uses korean names a lot more than non korean ones or mix them both as in uses part of their non korean name and korean name. Like bahiyyih, i also didnt use any of my korean name and it's fair that people assume I'm not korean.
She kind of looks like korean ariana Grande
Honestly it’s kinda Rude.. clearly judging from her Name or appearance, they could’ve asked is she Korean not assume she isn’t.
Yes it is but you have to understand Korean society that is just how it is..
It's because the amount of koreans that are born in korea not actually using korean names or using part of it is rare. I'm kind of like her, my name is fully in russian and i didnt use my korean name at all. But i dont mind people asking. Most halfie here dont mind people asking that at all.
he did ask dawg do u not know how to read🦧
Jeon Somi is half Korean as well but looks very Korean. Bahiyyih just looks a lot more western.
Some just looks white
I am sorry but Somi looks even more white than Hiyyih.... Sometimes Hiyyih looks actually mixed with Asian but Somi never looked mixed to me. ( Just to clarify, I love Somi, been her fan for years. So I don't mean to be negative when I say this)
