- Rosslare Europort has announced plans to establish the port, its hinterland and the south-east region as Ireland’s Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Hub, with the potential to create up to 2,000 jobs.
After a history making 2021 which saw Rosslare Europort become Ireland’s number one port for direct RoRo/Pax services to Europe, the port outlines its vision to become the Offshore Renewable Energy Hub of Ireland.
Investment plans for the port and its infrastructure include:
- The port Masterplan and digitilisation
- Permanent Border Control Post being developed by the OPW
- The N25 Rosslare Europort Access Road
- Development of the ORE hub.
In total, €350 million is set to be invested.

No facilities for foot passengers. A train appeared very briefly but where is the easy transshipment of passengers from train to ship? When will the rail connection be reinstated and a decent timetable put into operation?
**Shane Ross laughs***
Connection from Wexford to Waterford, and Waterford to Cork. Really not everything has to go to Dublin.
Place looks great!
Exactly
Reopening of the closed railway lines all over the island of Ireland would cut down on 1) Traffic Jams, 2) Car Accidents/Road Deaths & 3) Pollution as well as 24 hour train in Summer time & St. Stephen's Day trains too.
Roll on the Dublin Belfast agreed All Ireland Rail review..!!
Looking amazing lads! Very excited to see this happening.
I'm sure the train service will be more frequent, when this gets up and running. I hope it's not going to be the old Irish, "Ah sure it ill do" syndrome.
Why was the old pier station scrapped by former transport ministers?
Rosslare Europort needs a new and bigger terminal building which should be an attractive destination in itself. The current brutalist concrete carbuncle ought not to be part of Rosslare's future plans.
The line to Waterford is closed and current Rosslare Station too far from Ferry Terminal.
This presentation should that Rosslare has given up on rail connections and all the freight handled through the port will be by road. It will not be a container port at all. The roads of Wexford and adjacent counties will suffer. No wonder Rosslare doe not care that the line to Waterford is closed and only kept in existence by political pressure. So far that pressure makes Irish Rail send its weed-spraying train along the line once a year. But will the railway swing-bridge over the River Barrow work when required? It is now kept in the 'open' position so that ships can reach New Ross; and so that it does not have to be staffed to open and close it.
Unrestrained growth is not asking pillar of success
Shame the rail service is sparse, only has about 4-5 trains a day.
That's what happens when completely remote politicians are given transport minister as a stepping stone and not a role to the public
@@toyotaprius79 One standard for the urban, and another for the rural/remote 🤔
