So wait... The one series has our heroine as the chosen one of a literal basically BDSM deity, and her love interest is not only her bodyguard but devoted to the only sex negative god in their pantheon? That... Ok, that actually sounds like a really interesting dynamic for a fantasy romance series, especially adding in the politicking. I've heard people talk up the Kushiel's series but not really given an explanation of the dynamic just the basic vibes and that they love it- but your explanation i think just sold me!
Just to clarify, the God isn’t necessarily sex negative. He is asexual. but Jocelyn, a young man who is an acolyte of this god, projects his celibacy and values upon others.
His character arc is basically learning that just because Phaedra is into BDSM that doesn’t make her less than him, and she, in someways, is stronger than he is.
@@PrimmsBookCave The fact that there's an asexual god in the pantheon who's chill with sex and it's just one of their acolytes projecting some hangups he needs to unlearn onto his deity *just sold me more* as someone who's demi. Like... Hell yes! This sounds fantastic!
i was actually pleasantly surprised by Cassiel's Servant! i love love loved the entire Kushiel everything and i was a bit worried about it - but oh boy! It was actually pretty good. i was pleased (and sad that Carey will not continue with the series, but excited for what she's got going on next)
Well, if Necrobane doesn’t work out, you can always get into the locked tomb series starting with Gideon the ninth or whatever one you’re on if you have them anyway
