I always enjoy seeing people do all the “touristy” things here in NYC. We native New Yorkers usually avoid those things like the plague, but, honestly, a lot of it is really fun.
I agree with you! The other day when it was beautiful and warm out, i walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, and when I told my friends, they all looked at me like i was crazy. I wanted to, it was a great day for it!
@@ninja_tony That's a beautiful walk, for sure. Unfortunately, that's how I walked out of Manhattan on 9/11, and the memories are still kinda raw, even after all this time. Really, though, I need to just go *do* it and layer a few good memories onto the pile!
@@ninja_tony I have walked the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges a couple of times. Useful and convenient for a nice family outing, with no cost but the subway to get there.
I LOVE how you honored my city! ♥️ We used to walk up to the Statue of Liberty crown once a year, it was one of my elementary schools day tip. McSorley’s is a must for a tourist visit. You can always find a spooky tour to go on, NYC has some crazy history. I’m glad you had a great time 🥰♥️😘 And yes, the pigeons are assholes. They nested on the terrace of the apartment I grew up in and we couldn’t bring ourselves to get rid of them with, first eggs, then babies in the nest 😩 After the babies flew we demolished the nest and bleached the hell out of the corner they nested in to get rid of all signs & scent of pigeon 🤢 And put an owl statue up to keep them away. Pigeons are afraid of Owls. And Sara Paulson is a really nice person. Everyone I grew up with works on Broadway so I get to meet or at least hear all about who’s starring and how they’re behaving towards the house staff of the theaters 😂
Cool! When I visited NYC the Statue of Liberty crown was closed to the public so all I could do was peek up her toga. I also went to Ellis island so I could walk in the footsteps of my great grandfather when he first arrived in America.
Glad you enjoyed your time here. One thing that I always notice about people visiting, they normally dont get to do everything (understandably its fukin huge here) ... It's a whole different world past like 72nd street going into the Upper East and Upper West Side into the Harlem and Washington Heights areas, Fordham, Riverdale, Yankee Stadium area, Queens out by the Worlds fair site. Brooklyn just on the other side of the bridge, Governors island, I could go on... there's so much more to do. Hope you come back.
It's always great to see the city through the eyes of a visitor. I worked for decades with a block or two of the Wall St bull and back then there were no lines for pics 🙂
I've lived in NYC nearly 40 years -- I'm a born and bred New Yorker -- and I've only once visited the Statue of Liberty, and only walked near the base, never been up top. Same for the Freedom Tower (One World Trade Center) observation deck. I walked around the park downstairs, but never been up. (I have been to the Observation Deck of the Empire State Building.) But based on some of the comments here, Mrs. Ashleigh, had you advertised your trip, you could have had fans lining up to meet you. Thanks to you -- and hubbin, of course -- for visiting and sharing about your visit.
I know I'm late to the party here with my comments. 😂 I just discovered your channel, and I like the content. I'm glad you enjoyed your time in NYC! Next time, please check out The Edge. From what I understand, it's the kind of place where you'd be best advised to avoid eating or drinking beforehand! Regarding the Towers, it is my understanding that the reflecting pools only cover about 70% of the original footprints. They were massive. The new building is higher given it has a taller antenna, but the originals each had a higher habitable top floor (110 floors formerly vs 104 now). The North Tower stood at about 1,720 feet tall (1,368 feet high plus a 360 feet or so for its antenna). The South Tower was 1,362 feet high (no antenna). That means the 407-foot difference between old and new is significant for the South Tower, but the difference is much less when comparing to the North Tower. Finally, the two towers were not the only buildings destroyed on or due to 9/11. Included in the leveled buildings were numbers 3, 4, 6 and 7 World Trade Center. Inclosing, here's wishing you continued success!
I absolutely love these travel vlogs. Outside of your reaction to everything, seeing V and the billboard were definitely highlights for me. The editing and Blake's videography were also excellent.
Thank you so much!! this comment means so much to me! Blake and I are having a great time trying new things with the second channel. thank you for watching and the encouragement.
Sarah Paulsons grandad was the pastor at the church I went to here in Virginia. So I knew two of her grandparents and her aunts Michelle and Marsha. Just sad I never met Sarah also 😢.
I was just there!!! Took my son on his first trip to NYC in October and we did the One World Trade observatory and saw the Ghostbusters fire station and walked Times Square, of course...Swear we stood in at least five of the same places y'all did! ...The World Trade memorial was important to see... The very first thing I did on my very first trip to NYC in 1989 was visit the original World Trade Center observatory... The last time I was in that part of the city was in the summer of 2002, when it looked very, very different... I'm a New Englander, but I love New York City ...and we rode the subway everywhere... night and day... it's really not that scary... yeah, there's some weirdness sometimes, but it's mostly normal folks trying to get where they're going just like you are
NYC is a great place to visit as there is always something new to see and experience each time you go. The first time I went was part of a round the world trip when I was 21. We were roughing it in a hostel but had fun exploring and using the subway. I saw my first ever baseball game at Yankee Stadium and ate in a proper American Diner. We were there for about 2 weeks and got to visit the World Trade Center on a gloriously sunny day towards the end of our trip...the date (because I still have the ticket) 31st July 2001
On the one hand, I'm saddened that I lost an opportunity to possibly meet you and Hubband and treat you both to brunch or dinner (and Vkunia too if possible). I am happy that you enjoyed our little crazy corner of New York. Climbing the Statue of Liberty was never something that was on my bucket list and after seeing your vlog, I can confirm it will never be. Thanks for "taking one for the team."
SECRET to the STAIRS!!! I have climb the Statue of Liberty several times as a kid. The secret to coming down is to do it BACKWARDS! You have the handrails, the steps are the same size and distance down and you CAN'T SEE down! 🙂
This brought a smile to my face when you saw Sarah and were like Spiderman and then they showed you on the big screen. Heart warming. I'm a west coast city guy but yeah i love new york. It's an adult playgorund and i just like doing regular shit like siting in the park or losing at chess, or seeing a jazz show or people watchign.
NYC is such a great place to visit. You have to do the Highline (in better weather though - it's great in the summer)! The subway isn't too scary, and the locals are a lot nicer than media portrays.
My son always wanted to see NYC, so I took him there after he graduated from HS and we went/saw most of the same sights you did! However, we did it in July in the hottest days of the year!
That was a lot of fun to tag along on! Thank you Ashleigh for sharing your trip, you were too darn cute throughout :) (Oh, and happy birthday-ish! Never grow out of being childlike enough to pick a poster's nose LOL)
Those spiral stairs inside the Statue of Liberty... Giiiiirl I feel you! I made it maybe halfway up the stairs before I chickened out and begged to go back down instead of finishing the trek to the crown. To be fair, I was 8. And It was crowded the day we went, I'm blown away by how few people were there when you went.
I feel i need to tell you this: I was going through a really bad time during the pandemic, my girlfriend left me, I was ill, and I was depressed due to death and people going away. I started watching your videos and they would always make me happy, it was like hanging out with a friend. When you upload a sad video, I cried as well because you are amazing. I wish you nothing but the best, you are more than a UA-camr, you are a friend, a best friend, I hope your day is as awesome as you. P.S. My wife loves your videos as well, and she says she can't wait for more reactions.
McSorely’s might be the oldest Irish pub in America, but the oldest tavern is the Bell in Hand in Boston. Speaking of, you should come to Boston! Lots to see and do all over the area for art, history, sports, pubs, restaurants, etc.
I'm impressed Ashleigh met Sarah Paulson and no police had to get involved, hahaha!! She (Sarah) looked so small, Ash could have picked her up and ran away!! I went to the Statue of Liberty with my parents when I was 3 or 4 years old. I'm 57 now and still remember being in the crown (I'm sure my parents carried me most of the time)! I think in those days you could go up into the torch; no views, but just for the experience.
Whoa!!!!!! WELCOME TO NY!!!!!! (moved here from Michigan in 1996....my profile pix was taken in Union Square).......best part of the post was your pix in Times Square...........outstanding!!!!!!!..........please come back soon........
Went to NYC last summer. Absolutely ♥ it! Vkunia is another kool reactor. Also did a boat tour. Some of best views of the city! Thank gawd I went during the summer. Sarah Paulson is great! She replied to my dad's tweet once years ago. He still has it saved 😳 BTW - if you see any Marvel or Disney mascots in Times Square avoid them like the plague! I rode the subway lots, but still walked a TON! 😓
On 9/11, my employer was hosting a blood drive and I was the representative/liaison working with the Red Cross. I had spent the Monday night before calling from a list of regular blood donors and taking appointments for Tuesday. I had about 10 appointments and once it became clear America was under attack, we had an unbelievable response to the blood drive. Red Cross arrived that day with 20 donation kits and they got some more delivered during the day. However, Red Cross' resources were strained that day and they couldn't spare many supplies to the ongoing blood drives. When I left work that night after 6PM, we had over 30 donations and a list of another 800 people who called or stopped by. It was an amazing response to a horrible tragedy and it gave me a lot of faith that people cared.
Next NYC trip do the Edge observation deck. I find it's much better than One World Observatory and ESB. If you feel the need for more stairs, the Vessel is right nearby too. Also High Line - it's a narrow walking park converted from an elevated train tracks that runs through the midtown.
Cool stuff! I made it to NYC in 2019. I did the Empire State Building instead of WTC. I also saw Times Square, the bull and the Statue of Liberty. I didn't climb it...
I work near the Summit Vanderbilt. Went there last year with college friend who haven't seen in like 15 years and her kids and it was really cool. They were supposed to visit again last week to see Statue of Liberty but postponed. Nice VKunia cameo!
This was so awesome! I’ll never get to visit New York due to chronic illnesses, so thanks for taking us along. You and hubbin are two of my favorites on UA-cam and I feel privileged to be witness to your life. Keep on keeping on and thanks for the med reminder!❤✌🏻👩🏻🦰👍🏻
I had a smile on my face the whole time I was watching this, haha. So happy for you for a lot of this, and also so cool with your billboard! You deserve all the awesomeness that occurred there, haha. Thank you for keeping us entertained all this time :)
Wooow Ashleigh... judged people for the bull's balls but you were all over those silver balls 🙄🤣😂 what a great, fun video! I loved seeing you and Hubbin out in the wilds.
You finally hit the big time! TIMES SQUARE! I've put NYC on my bucket list for when I retire in a couple of years. I want to visit the Intrepid, the UN building, The Guggenheim Museum, and just breathe in the air on the Great White Way of Broadway. So many iconic things have happened. My best friend used to work in the WTC before he tragedy of 9/11. There was a beautiful mall underneath and she always loved to shop there. I hope you enjoyed your trip and glad you got to meet your Icon. Awesome video and keep up the good work.
I've watched pretty much every video you have posted. Honestly, this is my all time favorite. Would love to see more like this. Maybe take a trip out here to the Southern Oregon coast...lol
As a kid from rural Missouri, seeing Times Square as an adult was a real mind trip for me. I didn't get to see most of the amazing sights that you did but it's still something I'll always remember. It was awesome sharing your New York adventure with you! P.S. congrats on being featured on the times square digital billboard! You're officially a cultural phenomenon! We love you Ashleigh! ❤
Loved this vlog! I've been to NYC twice in my lifetime - once for my 13th birthday with my Godfather and again in 2019 with my husband, our two children, and 244 high school music students...yeah, that was even fun! Loved seeing where y'all went--you two are SO cute!!! We saw Wicked on Broadway and ate at Ellen's Stardust Diner beforehand, which was AWESOME and especially fun for all of our music kiddos. Again, thanks for sharing!
After watching you in my hometown, I really started to miss my ol’ home. Haven’t been home in many years. Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories for me. When I saw your ad up on the big screen I felt so proud of you. Now you really ARE famous.
Wow! That's so awesome that your face was up in Time Square 😲🤯 You've made it Ashleigh! 🙌🏼 Also super cool that you got to meet Sarah Paulson. My favorite season of AHS is a tie between Apocalypse Coven. Thanks for Vlogging yalls trip and therefore allowing me to live vicariously through yall. I highly doubt I'll ever make it out to NYC 🍎
Thank you for not only climbing the stairs, but for handling the heights like a champ. I am afraid of heights, so thank you for getting up to the top of those places and capturing the gorgeous views. I would never be able to make it up there to see the views for myself. Thank you. I visited New York back in 2007. I would love to go back and visit again.
Great trip. Something to see is the crater of Haleakala on Maui. Standing on the edge of the crater, the whole of Manhattan can fit inside the crater. Awesome. The volcano makes up more than three quarters of the island. Go visit if you haven't.
My 1st time to NYC Was Oct 94. I was 32. In town for opening night of the NHL season. My Bruins were in town to play the Rangers. Bumped into Marion Ross in Time Square . Met Jasmine Guy at Planet Hollywood restaurant . So you met Sarah. Imagine feeling that every time you go to a Con !
What an amazing trip you had! So thrilled that you enjoyed it! I always remember one visit with an old boyfriend of mine. Great time BUT we kept arguing which was the correct direction to get to our destination. After a number of times taking his incorrect route for several blocks, he realized I was always right...so that worked out! 😂 I'm a shopaholic so I always map out and make a plan to hit every store on my list. Loooots of walking. I pulled a muscle and ended up literally dragging my left leg behind me all thru Manhattan for 3 days....worth every step! Also love the Met, MOMA, and Guggenheim Museums (art and fashion and the theater always my go-tos on trips) So as many times as I've been to NYC, I know there's soooo much more to see. Every trip there is different. Thanks for sharing your adventures!!!!
My favorite thing about going to big cities is the stuff you didn't know you could do until you get there. There's almost always a concert or comedy show that you can't pass up. I got to see Victor Wooten in Atlanta just by walking down the street and happened to see his name on a marquis. Bought a ticket that day, saw him that night. One of the best concerts I ever went to. I almost got to see Dave Chappelle when I went to San Francisco, but I left one day too early.
I am so glad you all had a nice visit. Me and two girl friends went after 9-11 and saw Empire state, statue of liberty, central park, trump tower, and times square. It was very fun, but a lot of walking. Thanks for taking us along!
I'm so jealous you went to Hook and Ladder 8 (aka the Ghostbusters firehouse)! I used to work in New York, lived in New Jersey, and I've never been there!
I even know when you were here. It's only snowed a couple times and it doesn't last more than a day anymore. I walk by the Roxy to get to a gig I play at across the street all the time. Glad you guys had fun.❤ Edit: What you called 'Union Square" on West 4th was really "Madison Square" on 23rd street. The Flatiron Building (aka The Daily Bugle) was on the right. They look similar. 😊❤
This video was amazing. I’m so happy you enjoyed our little city lol. I live here but seeing it from a visitor point of view is always fun. Plus you are just so sweet and funny. Love your content.
I'm so proud of you for doing all those brave things! Couldn't catch me going to the tippity top of those places, or going to Times Sq ever, or bare legs in winter! But you did it, and you were so nice with Sarah P, so happy for you!! (also I was in Union Sq on the Saturday of that weekend, wonder if we passed each other!)
Wow I’m so excited for you guys having had such a fun amazing time. I’m jealous of the views… I only got to walk around time square and went to jeckyl and Hyde’s theme bar? Its was crazy to be a part of the act. And trying to find the bathroom was .. interesting. But a,a I g city crazy busy. But it’s one of those places I’d like in small doses. Thanks for sharing your time there with us. Much love and respect.
Also...props to Hubbin for some INCREDIBLE shots and filming!
Took the words right out of my mouth....three cheers for Hubban!!!
I thought the same exact thing.
showing him your comment right now! thank you so much!
He is "the wind beneath your wings".
Hell yeah he did a great job...
"That's me mama!" Might be the cutest response to having your picture/channel plastered on a Time's Square billboard lol :)
How cool is that? Ashleigh made it onto a NYC billboard! How exciting! I think you can call yourself famous now!
I teared up when you saw your picture in Time Square! AMAZING 👏🏼🤩

Wooow Ashleigh... judged people for the bull's balls but you were all over those silver balls 🙄🤣😂 what a great, fun video! I loved seeing you and Hubbin out in the wilds.
HAHAAHAH you have a great point
Omg, you’re so cute! I love your reaction to your billboard in Times square 🎉
The oldest irish pub in America is 170 years old and the oldest pub in Ireland is about 1200 years old, give or take a few decades, not far off:)
I am so thrilled and happy you had a great time in NYC! There’s always something to do here!
And kudos on meeting Sarah Paulson!
I live in NYC so I'm very excited to see your review!
Now you really ARE famous.
ahh thank you so much!
I did that Statue climb back in high school. You are correct- once is enough. 😄
Glad you had a great time in the city I live in.
So much more to see!
And yeah, The Summit is truly spectacular.
Looks like you had a great time! Wonderful video, as always. And educational too, since I'm planning my own NYC adventure sometime soonish myself.
What an amazing experience! Thanks for sharing Ashleigh and cheers from NJ to your continued success!!
The BILLBOARD in Times Square!!!! 💕 Congratulations!!!
thank youuu
Thank you for not only climbing the stairs, but for handling the heights like a champ. I am afraid of heights, so thank you for getting up to the top of those places and capturing the gorgeous views. I would never be able to make it up there to see the views for myself. Thank you. I visited New York back in 2007. I would love to go back and visit again.
Great trip. Something to see is the crater of Haleakala on Maui. Standing on the edge of the crater, the whole of Manhattan can fit inside the crater. Awesome. The volcano makes up more than three quarters of the island. Go visit if you haven't.
Loved this. The gull was fun. Seeing your picture in Times Square was iconic.
You are FANTASTIC AT THIS!!
thank youuu
I'm a shopaholic so I always map out and make a plan to hit every store on my list. Loooots of walking. I pulled a muscle and ended up literally dragging my left leg behind me all thru Manhattan for 3 days....worth every step!
Also love the Met, MOMA, and Guggenheim Museums (art and fashion and the theater always my go-tos on trips)
So as many times as I've been to NYC, I know there's soooo much more to see.
That’s so cool 🤗, so glad you enjoyed what you saw in the city where I live. Great job as always ❤️
I'm so jealous you went to Hook and Ladder 8 (aka the Ghostbusters firehouse)! I used to work in New York, lived in New Jersey, and I've never been there!
So fun to watch your experiences there!
I even know when you were here. It's only snowed a couple times and it doesn't last more than a day anymore.
I walk by the Roxy to get to a gig I play at across the street all the time.
Glad you guys had fun.❤
Edit: What you called 'Union Square" on West 4th was really "Madison Square" on 23rd street. The Flatiron Building (aka The Daily Bugle) was on the right.
They look similar. 😊❤
You guys are one of the cutest couples I've ever seen. So glad you guys got to enjoy New York together.
This video was amazing. I’m so happy you enjoyed our little city lol. I live here but seeing it from a visitor point of view is always fun. Plus you are just so sweet and funny. Love your content.
..... Ok last comment ☺️.... 23:21 THEEE BEST PART OF THE NYCVLOG 🥰 in my opinion 😘😘😘
The wall street bull cracks me up. Like, you're in NYC and THIS is what you wait in line to get your photo taken? 12:00
So happy for you Ashleigh! You deserve all this!♥
Green pants for the win! And great job with the shots!!!!
I do love the great pants and the shots were ALL hubben!
@@awkwardashleigh2well high five to Hubbin!!!! And keep up the great work
Yaas Gurl!
Fun stuff. Great footage. I’m from New York & I don’t think I’ve ever done as much as you did. 😂
Thanks for sharing this! But you went to Taco Bell and not any NY pizza joints?!
Oh no all those stairs in the Statue of Liberty was too much! Thanks for filming it for us.
How fun! You guys are too cute! Come visit Birmingham, AL and I’ll buy dinner. HA. And I had no idea you had a 2nd channel. 😂
You’ll have to watch Birdman! Shot at the St James theater
How exciting!!! Thanks for sharing ❤!!! What a great experience.
Love this. You and Hubbin are a great team.
You should watch the show Sarah did with Mathew Perry called Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. We only got one season of it, but it was so freakin good!!
Lol. I totally feel you about missing the sky. I was walking around singing the Green Acres theme song.
