Thank you. I am actually changing things up now. I am leaving the main vine on the post and not bringing it up on top of the arbor. I am training a wisteria to replace the grapes growing on top.

How do you prune the top growth?

Either typical spur pruning or cane pruning depending on the variety. This variety is Thompson seedless and it is cane pruned to around 10 buds.

What are you doing about the ants?

If they are farming aphids, I use insecticidal soap spray.
