Two weeks ago I got this endgame for the first time in classical chess and against a GM! He resigned one move before checkmate. What is interesting is that he also stopped the clock and never actually said I resign.
UA-cam ad sense. He’s also mentioned he lives in the Netherlands and goes to the tournaments with friends. Airfare within Europe can be reasonable and splitting room costs with friends makes it even cheaper.
I remember when I was somewhere in my 900s I played in an online tournament, and my opponent who was nearly double my rating offered me a draw when I was the one down a bishop and knight. The person didn't even try for a move... Straight up offers draw ❓❓❓
Great job, Zach! Your resilience showed in that bounce-back game. Keep leveraging your studying, and stay vigilant against potential pitfalls in the upcoming match. Stay patient, and let the game unfold at your pace!
I almost clicked off the video when you played f5 against Nf3. Nf3 is the strongest move against the dutch, I don't understand why you would give you opponent the best opening they could hope for? You are very lucky your opponent had no idea what to do in the opening. Great video though! I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next round
A commentary is meant to explain the game. Your excessive verbosity, unnecessary phrases and back and forth illustrations confuses rather than clarifies.
Theoretically yes, but majority of his subscribers are following him because of his phrases, it’s makes the content more entertaining. Tell me how many people would have the attention span to watch an entire 30 min video. I believe he is doing the right thing going off topic for a bit it let’s everyone take a breather. Keep doing your thing Zach! Btw I am maskedgentleman on twitch ;)
Hats off to the opponent for allowing the endgame to play out.
i dont know if i fear my oponent resigning in this end game or my oponent not resign and ending in stalemate
Probably hoped he wouldn’t know how to do the mate

5:37 that you take time to add these animations is quite tasty
Hey Zach, it's my first time in your channel, just wanted to say great video with super coverage on your thought process. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much ❤️
The opponent just refused to use his king💀☠️
Bro this is one of my Dreams, checkmating with knight and bishop in classical. Nice one Zach
I did once. Underpromoted to a knight because the guy I was playing was a huge jerk before the game.
@@bigmacx3101nice!!
Two weeks ago it happened to me in a classical game and against a GM to make things more epic! He resigned one move before checkmate.
f5 is the Dutch brother, it's only after you include d5 and e6 that it's called the Stonewall.
I'm literally squealing at this endgame...so flawless
Wonderful game!!
Loving your tournament videos!
I got as bishop + knight endgame and I rushed at mate in 3 and stalemated him
How do you manage costly tours for otb😊
We're all helping to crowd fund his journey by watching his vids and streams! I like to think anyway. Real supporters.🧑🤝🧑

This is the situation every chess player is looking for. GG
You practiced this endgame against me on stream

From where do you prepare for you opening
Chessbase, it only works for fide matches
One to remember for life!
Please make a video about the best way to preper and how to do that
I got it once and lost because of time
I also got this today and my opponent didn't know how to checkmate and i got a draw 😂😂

Good luck, Zach!
Well done. Congrats

f5 is perfectly playable and will be out of theory for a lot of Reti players
@@lewisjones284 It's the worst version of the dutch, but if the opponent is unprepared then yes, it is perfectly fine.
It is literally +0.3 at the highest depth. Tf you mean "worst version". I have seen worse.
@@PickleCODM-hw6cj I assure you, there are much worse options
what a great game :)
