If you drill down through all of REN’s numerous skill sets, what underpins everything that does, is his gift for melody. That isn’t a skill it’s a talent. There are 1000’s of musicians who are brilliant performers and technicians but not many have a natural gift for melody. This why singer song writers ( who are good do well).
FYI Fisher is an Australian music producer and DJ.
Ren started out wanting to be a producer more than performing it, but he lived in a TINY village in a remote area of Wales. Not even 200 people. He said he looked for collaborators but since there weren’t any, he developed the skills & then added others one by one. He had a small guitar his dad gave him that he took everywhere as well.
Ren has both skills & talent. He was born into a family of musicians/theater performers, so I’m sure a lot was natural to him. His mom was also a local music teacher, although Ren is mostly self- taught on a lot of it. He doesn’t want his internet success to affect his family negatively so he doesn’t talk about them much. I respect him a lot for that. 💜

Yes. Everything that Ren does is a cluster of highly honed skill sets resting on mega-talent! AND everything he does is micro-intentional. He's a perfectioist who will do multiples of takes to get that one flawless Live one-take.

I remember him saying in a interview he's produced about 90% of his own stuff, actually CRAZY af. But he labels everything correctly, either crediting the artist or (retake, mashup etc..) for the others...

One nod most people don't tend to notice is that to the film ' An American Werewolf in London'. There's the werewolf line early in the song and then he's recreating a scene from the film where a guy is being chased through the London Underground by the werewolf.

I'm with ya on the skill part. The guy has been putting in the work for a LONG time.
He's confessed to previously being "addicted to busking" and he's been doing that since he was VERY young. 1 takes become relatively easy when you perform live your whole life.
Hard to imagine how many hours of busking he's logged.
Same with sound engineering. He's done that stuff with the big push busking videos and even well before it.
Rap as well, he's been doing it all for a lot longer than many of us have become aware of him. It may be new to us, but certainly not for Ren. It's a honed skill.
