I commented last night on another OHMSS site . Here I go again:- George Lazenby had been given the muddy end of the stick. The world in general resented his having the temerity to fill Sir Sean's shoes and fill them he did, to overflowing; He is by far the better more realistic Bond than any one else. He marched to a different drummer and that was his downfall with the powers might be . He attended the premier in London sporting a full beard so what??!! The fools held that against him. His was a grittier Bond, not relying on the eyebrows nor the make- up . Fleming would have been proud. I saw "OHMSS" last weekend after seeing that miserable, disjointed mess "No Time To Die" . They have killed the franchise . Anybody out there knows where George Lazenby is at present? Broccoli owes him an apology .
George Lazenby has been my favourite Bond since Day One - in my favourite film! From his gun barrel entrance, the fight on the beach, and that classic line, “This never happened to the other fellow,” I knew we were in for a great time! I did not miss Mr Connery at all, with his complaining and sleepwalking performances in the previous two films. (And he came back looking like Lazenby’s father in a total piece of crap!) I’m sorry he didn’t do more Bonds and solidify his position but, maybe he was tired of all the bad press he received, before and after the film’s release. Also, it’s good that he didn’t stick around to get roughed up by “gay” assassins, a dwarf, “Jaws,” or Grace Jones! Old Man Broccoli called Lazenby “my biggest mistake” - this coming from the one who served us all that crud with Sir Roger (the exception being “For Your Eyes Only”). His bad-mouthing of Lazenby prevented him from getting more work, including the original “Equalizer” TV series. If Lazenby was so horrible, how come Harry Saltzman had planned to use him in non-Bond productions? (Unfortunately not realized.) But as his own man, George Lazenby has lived a fascinating life. Check out the Hulu documentary, “Becoming Bond.” He has had his down moments, such as the loss of a son and a bitter divorce, but has forged ahead in part, by keeping himself in shape. In his eighties, he is what a retired 007 should be. He was doing motocross into his sixties, and last year he was photographed riding a bicycle in London. May he have many more years of good health!
Although Lazenby received much support from Broccoli and Saltzman, he had a less easy ride from the board of United Artists who were none too keen to see him take over the mantle of Bond. On 7 July 1968, test footage of Lazenby and Rigg had been sent to United Artists in New York - and the were less than impressed by what they saw. On 23 September 1968, UA's head man David Picker even flew into London, desperate to tempt Connery back into the fold. But Connery was adamant that he wasn't coming back - EON and UA had made him a star and Connery was now a major player, capable of picking only the roles that interested him. And at this moment, Bond simply didn't interest him at all. It was only reluctantly that UA accepted EON's recommendation that Lazenby be given the part. With everything in life there is always a one off, unique, stand alone classic. This my Bond fan piers is one of those, a once only director in the late brilliant Peter Hunt and a once only star in George Lazenby. Honestly this is a fantastic piece of work that you have carried out on OHMSS - I just think you have encapsulated everything that is great about this movie with a wonderful piece of music that really complements it. Well done and many thanks for taking the time and effort in creating this tribute to OHMSS
Saw OHMSS in '69 & thought that Lazenby did a good job as Bond, but wasn't given a chance to 'grow into the part"! Later that year though, I met movie stuntman, Scotty McCrystal who said that Lazenby accidentally kicked out two of his front teeth during a 'fight scene' in the movie, trying too hard to look good! Thanks for a great tribute to the film .I always think that as a story its one of the best .It is a long film (some of Moores films were so short they seemed like an epsode from a tv series). Also I think Telly Savalas was a brilliant Blofeld .He actually did physical stuff like ski chases etc .In other films Blofeld just sits around issuing orders and stroking a cat . I think Lazenby was much maligned for his performance ,which shows a touching side to Bond .Add in what I think is the best theme and whats not to like ?It doesnt really rely on gadgets ,but on a solid story and I think very good acting .I suppose my acid test is ,if it wasnt a Bond film ,would it stand on its own 2 feet ,and the answer is certainly yes .In some ways it suffers from being part of a franchise where some of the films have been pretty rubbish .The good thing is that it is now being seen as one of the best in the franchise (in my opinion the best)
I agree. I watched every Bond film in sequence over the “two week” lockdown and OHMSS is definitely in my Top 3 or 4. Lazenby is incredibly underrated. Telly Savalas was excellent as Blofeld in this movie, but an often-overlooked performance is that of Italian actor Gabriele Ferzetti in the role of crime boss Marc-Ange Draco (Tracy’s father), who helps Bond to locate Blofeld and destroy his compound. Ferzetti actually spoke excellent English but his voice was still dubbed for the film, probably a mistake. In any event, he had a long and outstanding career and passed away in 2015 at the age of 90.

Do YOU know where you will go when you die? You can know and you MUST know. You that read this, you must be born again to see the kingdom of Heaven, you must truly actually really trust and believe the Gospel, that Jesus the Son of God died for YOUR sins, yes for ALL of YOUR sins, and after he died for all of your sins, he was buried and on the third day he rose from the dead and is no longer dead but is alive right now and forevermore, if you truly truly believe that ALL of your sins have been forgiven, if you accept this forgiveness out of a pure heart sincerely and believe that all of your sins have already been forgiven then according to your faith be it unto you, that's it, you see, by your FAITH you are healed and forgiven of all of your sins simply because you accept forgiveness by what Jesus did for you, you accept his sacrifice for you by FAITH and if you do truly believe that you are forgiven , God knows what you are thinking, and if you truly believe that you are totally forgiven and saved, God accepts you because of your FAITH in His Son Jesus, and you are forgiven by your faith and you are saved and have everlasting life and you shall never perish but have eternal LIFE and no one can ever possibly pluck you out of the hand of God Almighty because you trust and believe in His Son Jesus the Christ of Nazareth. Fear not, only BELIEVE. Pray and ask God to forgive you of all of your sins and give you the gift of eternal life in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and God will hear your sincere prayer and forgive you and you will know that He forgives you and that you are saved , BY FAITH. If you are saved, God will never leave you nor forsake you because you are a child of God, no matter what happens, get back up and continue to walk in faith and God will guide you unto everlasting LIFE and will never fail you neither will let you to fail because you belong to Him and you are dearly loved and you shall never ever perish but you have everlasting LIFE. Do the best that you can possibly do to not sin anymore, and pray and ask for help and God will help you to overcome all temptations as He guides you to become more and more sanctified as you mature in the faith, and read the Bible and study the Bible and pray to learn what to do and what not to do, but no matter what, never ever doubt your salvation because God Himself guaranteed and promised that He will make sure that you will make it to Heaven and have eternal life by His power and He Himself will perform the good work that He has ALREADY started in you that truly believe. (Philippians 1 : 6) Fear not, only *BELIEVE* .
Not to demean this movie which is so beautifully filmed, but it is the beginning of the end of the more character-driven Connery movies and the beginning of the "modern gimmicky " style of Bond movies . The action is more of a star from here on out. The real patent , the real mold was broken after THUNDERBALL.
Imagine if Lazenby had been allowed to continue. Roger Moore may have been judged too old and Brosnan too young after Lazenby’s 4th or 5th turn…. Everything would have been different. I can’t find a flaw with this movie. Unlike everything before and up until the two great loves of Craig’s Bond (3 if you count M) this film had heart, emotion and heartbreak. A total lack of gimmicks, unrealistic stunts. Great portrayal of Blofeld. Took us to locations (Portugal) rarely seen before in movies… and Diana Rigg!
Lazenby had the bitter assignment of replacing Connery and thus the inevitable comparisson. Diana Rigg was very flattering of Lazenby's performance as Bond and his acting ability. High praise from one of Britain's finest female icons. The problem I had with this film was Telly Savalis as Blofeld. I like Telly Savalis but this wasn't a good role for him, he just wasn't believable. All in all a good Bond film just bad timing for Lazenby. Another actor that I thought portrayed Bond well was Timothy Dalton. I know those aren't some of the most endearing in the saga but he was just a victim of weak scripts and poor plot lines his portrayal couldn't overcome.
1. OHMSS 2. Spectre 3. No Time To Die That is the order in which to watch. Because in these films the women are integral to the story. When All The Time in the World plays over the credits of No Time To Die, it is so poignant. OHMSS is the best of the 3 films imo.
Indeed, but maybe it is for the best. If he continued, maybe we would not have Roger. And even though he only made one, his legacy will be having one of the best movie of the series.
It's only fair for everyone to admit it was impossible to measure up to or easily replace Sean Connery as Bond so it's not fair to knock this film because of Lazenby. OHMSS is a very good Bond movie, very well made, John Barry
surpassed himself with the score and the action non-stop. It doesn't matter who the actor was because trying to follow Connery automatically dinged whatever movie came next. This is why they BEGGED Connery to come back. And he did when they paid him what he told them to.
So, after hearing all the praise for this film, and how it's underrated, and it's one of the best Bond films yadda, yadda, yadda, I finally decided to watch the one Bond film I have never seen. I was really built up for this one, and... It sucked.

@@jcw9539 Thats fair. I agree, George did an amazing job! I dont want to compare the two though since Sean did not have the script and such an amazing bond girl to work with. That being said, I would never change anything about OHMSS. Thanks for watching!
You avoided the “this never happened to the other guy” quote. Well done.
Hah, thank you!
Lazenby was a great Bond. Roger Moore was a light loafered interior designer.
Haha they were both great IMO
my favorite bond movie of my life the better score better story real possible and best bond girl thanks
Thank you for watching!
invece mi puo piacere e come 😊
Do YOU know where you will go when you die?
(Philippians 1 : 6)
Fear not, only *BELIEVE* .
The Fight-ice-sliding scene . Amazing
Ahhh yeah I love it to death. Thanks for watching!
Eu gostei do filme só não gostei do final mais pra mim Sean connery e Roger Moore são os meus James Bond preferido minha opinião
Sorry my Portuguese is a little rusty haha, but I can understand where you are coming from
This will always be my favorite movie. I just loved everything about it.
Good choice, its close to perfect in my eyes
Sono sicuro che quello con George lazeeby mi piacerà 🙂
Si si! Credo di si!
Not to demean this movie which is so beautifully filmed, but it is the beginning of the end of the more character-driven Connery movies and the beginning of the "modern gimmicky " style
of Bond movies . The action is more of a star from here on out. The real patent , the real mold was broken after THUNDERBALL.
Hello, great vídeo.
Only I Want to know the name of the song used on this vídeo. Thank you
Thanks for watching! The music was Immortal Music - Aurora XV 54
@@ropropnipnop3880 thank you! Anda great job the tribute vídeo!
@@Mario-no3vd Thank you so much, that really means a lot!
Great like this
Thank you Stephen!
Superb.
Thank you so much, so kind of you to say!!
Totally agree, thanks for watching Terry!
Agree with everything you said except about Telly Salavas. I think he is actually my favorite Blofeld! Thank you so much for watching!
The best bond george lazenby do all the future or 007
My favorite Bond movie !
Good choice, thanks for watching!
1. OHMSS
2. Spectre
3. No Time To Die
That is the order in which to watch. Because in these films the women are integral to the story.
When All The Time in the World plays over the credits of No Time To Die, it is so poignant.
OHMSS is the best of the 3 films imo.
Oh totally, OHMSS is for sure the best one
This never happened to the other guy.
Too bad George didn’t believe in the franchise. He could of had a great legacy as a Bond. At least he gave us one great movie.
Indeed, but maybe it is for the best. If he continued, maybe we would not have Roger. And even though he only made one, his legacy will be having one of the best movie of the series.
Amazing tribute to my favourite Bond movie. Subbed
You have no idea how much that means to me, thank you so very much!
6 more movies please, with this guy playing the part.
@@steverichards575 With Lazenby? Yeah would love to see him grow more in to the part
First Bond film I saw circa 1970 at the tender age of 9 years! I was hooked
Thats amazing! Thanks for watching
Nothing more
Nothing less
Only love.
Classic
It's only fair for everyone to admit it was impossible to measure up to or easily replace Sean Connery as Bond so it's not fair to knock this film because of Lazenby. OHMSS is a very good Bond movie, very well made, John Barry
surpassed himself with the score and the action non-stop. It doesn't matter who the actor was because trying to follow Connery automatically dinged whatever movie came next. This is why they BEGGED Connery to come back. And he did when they paid him what he told them to.
@@kimballbenson8116 Totally agree, thanks for watching! :D
Lazenby- what a face. !!! Delicious 👤
Haha, thanks for watching!
Few of the girls who appearing on OHMSS are no longer with us
I know, it is so sad! Was so upset the day Diana Rigg passed. Cant believe its over 3 years already
One of my Favorite Bond Movies!!!
Good choice!
cool Mix, congrats !!!!!!!😄😍
Thank you so much!
George Lazenby was better than Roger Moore. That says a lot in my opinion.
The worst Bond is like a Boxing never a gentelman
Best bond film ever .
Thanks for watching!!!!
this one is the best
Good pick, its close to perfect in my eyes!

So, after hearing all the praise for this film, and how it's underrated, and it's one of the best Bond films yadda, yadda, yadda, I finally decided to watch the one Bond film I have never seen. I was really built up for this one, and... It sucked.
Brilliant work, thx for sharing =^)
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me!
