I'm sure that The Greatest analyzed every bit of fight footage that he could get his hands on before taking on Foreman and as a result, spotted some key weaknesses, then developed an ingenious strategy that enabled him to masterfully pick him apart over the course of 8 rounds. If George had fought the 22 year-old version of Ali, then the ass whooping that he got would've been more severe and the fight would've been over a lot sooner. 💯🥊
He was in trouble in part of this fight, watch full interviews about this fight. Holyfield was in trouble a couple times George was pounding on him hard!!!
I think it was on Arsenio Hall's show, that Holyfield said that at one point in the fight he gave it all he had, hitting as hard as he could and connecting on every hit, and Foreman never went down. He never wavered. He knew he wasn't going to knock him out.
There were 15 unanswered punches, elbows, forearms and even a headbutt. Foreman not only didn't wobble, he walked right through it. That HAD to be terrifying, like fighting the human Terminator.
That's what people don't fight dont understand. Some people hit so hard, you don't feel it in the same way. You might get clocked in the face and feel like someone dropped a piano on your toes, or get hit in the body and every bit of energy you have just leaves your body and you go from energized to exhausted. Sometimes that adrenaline kicks in and you're about to stand up and argue you're not hurt only to realize your legs don't work. Fighters like that are extremely dangerous and probably doing long term damage to your body.
I was a big Evander Holyfield fan, I even told all my homeboys in 1990 that Holyfield would beat Tyson.. But, after seeing Holyfield hit Foreman 20 times and Foreman kept standing, I started rooting for Big George to win
I'm a boxing freak and have been my whole 56 year life and this fight was my absolute favorite fight of all time!!! George looked like a swollen frog after this fight 😂😂😂but he also brought some pain to Evander.
Evander Holyfield is the most underrated Heavyweight champion of all time. His athleticism was unmatched as was his ability to fight taller, longer and bigger opponents with perfect distance control.
Holyfield did what Moorer should have done. After he got got ahead in points, he pretty much tied George up and stayed away from him. Evander said in interviews that he knew Foreman was going to try and knock him out. George said his biggest mistake was letting Holyfield feel his power too early and if he ever got another chance at the title he would slowly bait them in.
I watched that fight.Evander stayed in shape closest to RockyMarciano.,Thats the only way he stayed on his feet when Big George smashed him with that Big Right that he took.
Foreman might be the hardest hit he took but the one I'll never forget is when Riddick bowe hit him so hard he literally jumped into the turnbuckle in the corner
An old George used the wrong style against a moving target - the cross-arm defense, which restricted his ability to counterpunch, swiftly, on demand. Against Michael Moorer, he adjusted - no cross-arm defense posture. Hollyfield needed to give the old man much more credit; George never promoted his strength; he demonstrated it lethally. ""The difference is" that Hollyfield did fight an old man who was returning to boxing after a ten-year retirement and becoming a pastor; a youthful George Foreman would have annihilated Hollyfield in the manner he did Joe Frasier, twice, Ken Norton and many others. Nonetheless, Hollyfield is way up there with the great boxers.😅🎉😂
George was slow in his prime too, he was real big! It takes a lot to move heavy muscle, keyboard warriors don't understand. There's parts of this fight where Holyfield was in trouble!!
@m42037 Rather, he calculatedly took his time, and got leverage to demolish his runners - even as an amateur he did intentionally a la Sonny Liston, a la Rocky Marciano, et al😮

If I could build the perfect heavyweight in a lab: 1. Larry Holmes Jab 2. Ali's footwork 3. Prime Tysons speed/angles/head movement 4. Forman's strength 5. Evanders heart/courage 6. Joe Lewis IQ

Love that Mike Tyson created the "Mike Bites" gummies and brought Evander in on it. Great quote by Mike- "we're the only boxers in history still making money off a fight from 30 years ago"
Their fight was truly one of the most heartfelt and strong fights I ever saw. Both of them nearly knocked one another out more than once, and they went the whole distance. George didn't even seem that worn at least wind wise. Excellent fight!
This is why Tyson says that Muhammad Ali would beat him in a fight. There’s legit levels to this. Ali knocked out a younger George, Holyfield beat a much older George by unanimous decision, and Mike lost to a slight older Holyfield. The reality is that Mike had a temper and Muhammad Ali was fast as hell for his size and would get into anyone’s head. Muhammad would beat him just by the mental game alone.
George wasn't fast in the 70s either he always had very big muscle mass, but his power was equal or better than Ernie Shaver's. Holyfield was in trouble in part of this fight, this is only a shorty

@Hi-fm1xg I think you are missing the point!! I am not suggesting foreman was a better boxer than Ali. what I am saying is, no one could stand toe to toe with a young George without getting demolished....and no one did .
This man looks great for a Warrior , he had been through hell in the ring , and to see him looking healthy and normal, is a real blessing on his part .. God bless him and his family.. he is a great fighter hands down the greatest 🙌 👏 ❤️
Not by mike tyson or lennox lewis in evander holyfield being hit by the hardest punch he ever took by a 45 year old Big george that right there speaks for itself that the best boxing era was the 60's and 70's guess who dominated both decades the one and only G.O.A.T Muhammad Ali floating in Heaven and resting peacefully salute to the Greatest Athlete/Boxer of any Century

Keep dreaming the both of you especially the prime mike comment😂
Miss those days of pure brawlers. Only downfall to those days of warriors are that most of em suffer today from all those blows to the head from staying in the pocket and banging. But boy were those days full of athletic heart. Athletes then as a whole were just different. Productive and purposeful people who were willing to give it their all. Not for the money but to get the betterment of their opponents. Intense moments…..🙏🏼❤️✊🏼👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼😤😤😤
NO WAY ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH WOULD EVANDER HOLLYFIELD BEAT PRIME GEORGE FOREMAN.
I disagree . Yes George was a beast in his prime. But it doesn’t matter how big you are or how hard you punch. Ali KO’d him when everyone thought George was going to kill him. But Ali was the smarter fighter.
@@Slakker79Ali won due to his other worldly Speed. you can’t compare Ali’s speed to evander
No he didn't - he stood there and took a thunderous beasting for about seven rounds @@pelumiabisagbo
@@pelumiabisagbo Ali won because he stood against the ropes and let the ropes absorb the punches which is called “the rope a dope”, and he kept doing that till Foreman got tired and then knocked him out.
@Slakker79 MUHAMMAD ALI WAS AN EXCEPTION, HE WAS A MASTER BOXER, MASTER THINKER IN THE RING, MUHAMMAD ALI WAS ORDAINED BY LORD GOD TO BE THE BEST NO MATTER WHO HE MET IN HIS PRIME, INCLUDING THE US MILITARY GOVERNMENT , MUHAMMAD ALI SIMPLY " THE GREATEST "
How can someone so humble have a Big Heart God's on his side 🙏🏿 ❤️
Amen
I think that a prime Holyfield would've been in real trouble against a prime Foreman. 💯
That’s putting it mildly.
@@ddc2957 Indeed, he was the Riddick Bowe of that era.
Unfortunately yes. Holyfield is a technical slugger, and it wouldn't have went well against a truck like prime Foreman.
@@Art.the.Vegan.Health.Student In order for any boxer to beat George during his prime, they'd basically have to replicate what Ali did.
Both Legends
So pretty much, a prime and young Foreman would've took Evander to the ER
Evander is one cool smart awesome fighter/champion. ✨🏆🥇
Big George Forman is the Greatest Heavyweight of All Time.
Forman was one very tough, powerful man
Yes, Foreman's power was like swinging 2 x 6s, while other heavyweights, still strong, swinging
2 x 4s.
It's good to see fighters respecting one another.
Timing beats speed, precision beats power.
George looking like there's two people in his body fighting you.
Foreman was still so tough at 48! Unbelieveable!!
Good hear the honest thoughts of one great about another .... Both legends
A battleship can move slow and just has to connect once lol...
When heavyweight fights were epic!!
The glorious era of heavyweights
George hits the type when your ears don’t ring, but you go momentarily deaf for a few seconds.
George is a beast ❤him and Holyfield
George Foreman really is an old man you wouldn’t want to mess with
I'm a boxing freak and have been my whole 56 year life and this fight was my absolute favorite fight of all time!!! George looked like a swollen frog after this fight 😂😂😂but he also brought some pain to Evander.
Yeppers remember George's age
@@arthurwhite9823 ik😵💫 ol' George could probably give a heavy weight in today's boxing a great challenge. ha, ha,
There's parts where George is pounding on Holyfield and he was freaking how hard George's punches were. He KO'd the champ two years later!

George was a beast
Two of the Greatest!!!!! They don’t seem to make men like them anymore 😮
You know it's heat when you have to ask your corner if your teeth are still there 😁
My two heroes. George and Evander.
The scary one was Holyfield! He was a Real Warrior, he would fight you 20 rounds if he had too
Evander Holyfield is the most underrated Heavyweight champion of all time. His athleticism was unmatched as was his ability to fight taller, longer and bigger opponents with perfect distance control.
One of my favs of all time
Holyfield did what Moorer should have done. After he got got ahead in points, he pretty much tied George up and stayed away from him. Evander said in interviews that he knew Foreman was going to try and knock him out. George said his biggest mistake was letting Holyfield feel his power too early and if he ever got another chance at the title he would slowly bait them in.
Holyfield was a small heavyweight, but his performance in the ring was truly second to none, imo "The ultimate warrior ".
Prime foreman wouldve ate him
I watched that fight.Evander stayed in shape closest to RockyMarciano.,Thats the only way he stayed on his feet when Big George smashed him with that Big Right that he took.
Rocky? Lol!!!
Ali, Tyson amd others they're examples of a boxer in shape
I have a lot of respect for both of those guys big George can hit.
Foreman might be the hardest hit he took but the one I'll never forget is when Riddick bowe hit him so hard he literally jumped into the turnbuckle in the corner
FROM CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION TO HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION ❤ THE REAL DEAL ❤
This man was a cruiserweight too!
Top five favorite fights of all time.
May be my number one
Evander Holyfield is a true Legend.
Warrior
George is soo strong, he blocked those punches with his face
Iron Chin.....! Everytime when George was hit, He had a flashback of Muhammad Ali and Ron Lyle....
He blocked punches and elbows with his face and still stood up
Evander Holyfield Boxing on the Sega Mega Drive was the best boxing game of my childhood!
My man!!! The Real Deal... Absolutely is!!!
I was very skeptical about Evander back in his early days being a man of small statue compared to most heavyweights of that time..but all that changed when he fought Michael Dokes.. he showed the heart of a lion..an I never looked at him the same since.
Undeniably, Two of the greats right there
Come on man.! George was a grandpa when he got in the ring with you...
And still messed him up
And Ali fought him in his prime with parkinson's disease 🐐
If I could build the perfect heavyweight in a lab:
1. Larry Holmes Jab
2. Ali's footwork
3. Prime Tysons speed/angles/head movement
4. Forman's strength
5. Evanders heart/courage
6. Joe Lewis IQ
Tyson in July watch the fight, he looks dangerous
I love both these Champs! Fun hearing their thoughts years afterwords. Its like having backstage passes but almost better
Evander would never quit. Always a fan of him and Big George.
Evander: You are slow as Christmas.
George: That is why you are going to see Christmas lights!
He was still able to compete in the highest level of boxing his story is amazing
George is the record holder for oldest world heavyweight champ 45 years old and was still very dangerous , Tyson said Foreman was the hardest hitter too
Evander was such a tactically educated boxer🥊🥊
Holyfield is fast 💨 and elusive but one of best cruiser weights champions by holding that title for about 20 years.
That George Forman Grill will always be the greatest of all time achievements 😂😂😂
Big George and The Real Deal is one of my favourite fights ever.
Timing beats speed and presition beats power
Evanders physique 🔥🔥🔥👊👊👊💪
U can clearly see the elbows being thrown by Evander in this clip
I'm such a fan of Holyfield. Courage, strength, determination. Took nothing for granted. Respected and honored his talent with effort and hard work.
Foreman is a real-life comic book character. He could have been Kingpin in Spiderman if Kingpin was a little stronger.
Love that Mike Tyson created the "Mike Bites" gummies and brought Evander in on it. Great quote by Mike- "we're the only boxers in history still making money off a fight from 30 years ago"
George was up in age buddy!
Tyson passed on Foreman.😊
Casuals bring up Tyson.
Evander and Georges are the smartest heavy weight champions for all the Time
Their fight was truly one of the most heartfelt and strong fights I ever saw. Both of them nearly knocked one another out more than once, and they went the whole distance. George didn't even seem that worn at least wind wise. Excellent fight!
Can you imagine the patience and ring IQ of old George with the physique of young George? He would have been unstoppable.
Evander, was lucky that night. Big George was a beast. Just imagine if he was 20 yrs younger. Sweet dreams .
George wasn't fast in the 70s either he always had very big muscle mass, but his power was equal or better than Ernie Shaver's. Holyfield was in trouble in part of this fight, this is only a shorty
