Oh and regarding the speed, those look like USB 2.0 scores. Mine gets about 36MB/s on my USB 2 port, but when I put in my SSD, I got 200MB/s on the USB 3 side. I noticed that the port in the drive is a bit stiff and at one point had not pushed the cable in all the way until it clicked so only the USB 2.0 pins were touching. Mine was bought from Amazon and it said new version that supports UASP, but nothing on the Sabrent site indicates it.
I have the usb 2.0 version of this drive enclosure and I can say it is very cheaply made. I have most of the same issues you have like the drive rattling around inside the case. I also found that the included screws do not fit very well into the holes on the enclosure as if they were the wrong screws for the enclosure. They stick out a few milometers which can scratch anything the drive rubs up against and upon trying to screw the screws in a little tighter so they aren't sticking up They strip very easily. So basically the hard drive I have in there now is permanently stuck in the enclosure unless I feel like breaking the enclosure to get it out . Other than that the enclosure works perfectly fine to this day after almost 5 years
I put several layers of cardboard from a cereal packet inside to stop the drive rattling. I put it on the circuit board side to insulate it and keep it away from the aluminium case 👍
I just bought this to hold my hold PS4 hard drive. That gap on the top can be an easy fix, you just have to push down on both sides before you put the screws in
thanks for making this video! I have purchased the hard drive enclosures that Best Buy sells (I believe they from a brand called "Insignia") and they have the same "floppiness" with the drive smacking against the side of the enclosure, it's really unnerving....I was hoping to buy one of these Sabrent enclosure + the Lacie-style rubber bumpers that they also sell, but it looks like that will only be a cosmetic change for the hard drive
I picked one of these up and I have that gap too. I tried tightening the screws but it felt like the screws were going to strip. Also, I don't really care for the double ended USB cable. I would have preferred a standard USB 3 cable since it would be easy to replace if lost. Mine does have an issue on my work computer, where two of the USB 3 ports cause the drive to just repeatedly connect and disconnect, but the third USB 3 port is fine.
Im going to use my ps3 internal hard drive. Will i be able to use it in my mac ? Also , for example if i store music in the hard drive can i connect it to my car stereo to play music in the hard drive and use it as a usb ?
Just wondering if you are aware, they make a tool free enclosure, which i got delivered today from Amazon. The tool free enclosure comes with foam that goes on top of the drive, so you don't have sliding problem. I have an older Sabrent IDE to USB 2 enclosure that's similar to the model you showed here and it also slides. However for a 60 GB drive that's old enough to die any time, the imperfections of the enclosure, aren't worth worrying about for me.
I just bought 2 of these the other day off Amazon to use as external storage, I have a 500gb drive and am looking to get a 2tb drive for the second one. I won't lie, hearing about the speeds being cut in half makes me a bit concerned, but being all that I just plan on using them for storage and system backups, I don't think the speeds reductions will be an issue for me. Though to be honest, I wish I had watched this before spending the $9 for one, but it's a $9 enclosure, wasn't really expecting the fastest thing on the market.
I have a similar anker version. Works great and is secure. Doesn't move around at all. So I just use a 120gb ssd as a portable 3.0 drive. I was looking to getting the Sabrent one, but saw many users with same issues of gap. Seems like an odd defect.
Yes it does but there are some conditions. TV's port must provide at least 500mA and partition type must be compatible, don't use NTFS compresion, it brakes the file format on som TV's
I have the same enclosure with an SSD, compared to benchmarks from the company, the performance is nearly the same as on SATA III in the case. It may be that your USB 3 ports aren't fully up to spec.
+Sollux Captor I benchmarked the enclosure using 3 different systems afterwards and came up with the same results after each trial. I also ran a drive diagnostic on the hard drive I was using and it passed with no errors. I wonder why my results are different? hmmm.....
+AA Computers and Technology really, sata wasn't really built to be converted to usb.there are variances in quality ,especially biased to maybe the hard drive your using in the enclosure is older/has more usage and is aging?

Is this case compatible with a Toshiba laptop hard drive?
Is this still worth getting or the Orico enclosure?

Is This Good For Gaming Or does it not effect gaming

Witch one do you recommend for a samsung ssd is enrico good ?
I just have to say nice new desk. On the HD, thumb drives are getting bigger and cheaper that doing things like this is a dying age.

Great enclosure.
very low speed test with a WD3200LPVX Sata 3.0/Sata-600, but i prefer to copy files to see the real speed of a drive and such device.
Getting the drive out after its a fucken challenge!!!
fyi I would not shake that drive like that lol those break soooo easy I had a 650mb break by dropping on carpet
HOW DO I GET THIS SHIT TO SHOW UP ON MY LAPTOP I HAVE WINDOWS 10
