Well it IS supposed to be an alternate version of California where there is more Japanese influence...but that's not much of an excuse, hehe. At least they tried to come up with something!
Can't just switch back to Japan 6 games in. And the most hilarious thing is the only reason they picked LA was because of the very first case in the first game having a line that needed a specific Pacific Time location, so they chose LA without much thought since what's the worst that could happen right?. If not for that first case, Ace Attorney would just be in some vague imaginary town in the US.
They kinda were, but not. During an interview with the developers, they were asked about how changes are made for localization, and they pretty much said their only concern was creating the Japanese version (Janet Hsu was there, so that probably helped the question). That said, Janet Hsu said her personal theory was that this was an alternate universe where Japanese immigrants and customs weren't ostracized during WWII, so they were allowed to spread into the modern day. This is mentioned by Apollo in Duel Destinies, pretty much making it canon.
@@Yanramich I think you're thinking of when Apollo says the village of Nine-Tails Vale was founded by Japanese immigrants. He says nothing else about the status of Japanese immigrants.

After promoting the DLC case the interviewer hold him back and after a spoiler break and proceeds to grill him on the motivation for the rakugo case. This is probably my favorite character in the whole game (with Datz Are'bal as a close second.) His concept is pretty cool. He's literally like 4 characters rolled into one.

I actually have a friend recently who has the disorder, and knowing that DID was thrown into the mix of characters, it was actually interesting to see, yeah.
Spirit of Justice: Oh I see, the witness drank alcoholic sake and lost consciousness! Now let's bring some sake-filled manjuu into court and force the witness to eat one! Just finished replaying this entire game... I nearly fell off my chair laughing when I read Kisegawa was a courtesan
The funnest fun case ever,Athena Blackquill and Nahyuta really grew on me with this one.
This case may not be the best one but damn it was really entertaining lol
Japanese immigrants...

Listen to this in a dark and silent room, You will want to bolt out of there instantly. Something is watching, and it is angry
SPOILER
Turnabout storyteller ain't the best case but uendo having multiple personalities was awesome.
The dirty midget
Shhhhh.... spoilers!!

According to the Ace Attorney wiki, only up to four instruments play at a time.
Hmm
And Uendo has three fans in his hair and holds one in his hand
Another thing I noticed as I was replaying the case just now is that when the original 3 alters get drunk, a fan falls out of their hair each time one passes out
(Did he will the floor to open up and swallow his cushions out of shame for that bad joke?)
Uendo was the best character in case 4
Overall this game had some pretty strong cases, but case 4 was the weakest.
Blackquill and Uendo made it tolerable.
JC4R yeah, Case 4 was meh, but I genuinely liked the banter blackquill brought
I feel like they added a bunch of smaller cases to create much needed variety since case 5 is ridiculously long.
Thanks!
Extremely japanese instruments with piano slapped on them. Yeah we see what you did there, writers.
We're not in Kansas anymore..
