So glad I found your channel. This happens to me all the time at work - I do something and someone else swoops in at the last minute and takes all the credit :-(
My boss stole my idea and made me work on it. And when it was a success he never mentioned me. I learned it the hard way ! Never give your ideas to anyone. Keep them to yourself. That way they won’t get stolen. Because one day, you’ll need those seeds to grow your own garden.
Revenge sister… revenge just in a smart way! I did and at least I’m proud of myself on it. Just smart and politically correct. The real truth is always there, coming up when the real moment comes.
So useful! This is such a common problem at work, and many people are often too scared to say anything. Thanks for encouraging us all to speak up and be heard!
I’m always finding ways to have witnesses and coworkers who know what I’m doing. Once only boss stole it but I revenged in a smart way: “I invited him on a meeting to present my work to the rest of stakeholders.” And, I thanked him for the opportunity he gave me as my boss for this project. In this way I showed respect for his position and I put myself as the author of project. Now I’m facing what you said: “A new coworker is stealing from other older colleague a work but with support of his manager. “ Terrible, especially for this he is recognized and awarded in the company, even though he doesn’t have knowledge. Pathetic but what to do! When he is supported by superiors.
This happens me all the time . I have recently had my boss try and explain some of the systems and paperwork that I created to me as if it was theirs with no changes made . I was still down as the document creator on the file and everything . I did what you said in trying to confide in someone that I felt was in a better position with the boss but that I could trust and mentioned a few accrual ideas on asset managment . The very next morning in a meeting he brought them up as his ideas . It was a skyped meeting so I couldn't talk over him and had to just let it go . It's a very deflating experience.
The same happend many times and today about 4 months worked a document he got credit and said that dont know now will explain my document and my work expalin for me in the meeting as he boss cant do any thing
This happened to me today. We worked on a document together and could not figure it out. I thought to call the vendor’s helpdesk and we were shown how to get the job done. She sends an email to HR and busted me down to proofreader. Wow! She would not have been able to figure that out without that important nugget. Her email grabbed all the credit. I didn’t say anything at the time but I know what to do tomorrow. Thank you.
In a team work, I did more than half of the project alone because the members didn't care, and my friend who puts the content together with images got the credits and admiration by the group. The worst actually is that no one of my group said "thank you" to me and for the grate points we get. I could not help what I felt, it's a terrible angry and sadness.
I have just confronted someone about overly relying on me for every work task and every action within that work task. She would then use all that and submit it as her own work and take credit for it without ever once acknowledging the support. When I eventually told her ‘no’ she took 2 days off work and then bizarrely had systems issues for the next 5 days. By which time my work was in fruition and she just aped it. But at least everyone knows it was mine. She also stopped speaking to me and blocked me on social media - all because for the first time ever I suggested she take responsibility for her work stack!
Do you guys think it is a bad idea to complain to the manager since, I feel like the manager is letting him do this in purpose wtf 😭😭😭how should I deal with thissss?
My coworker just did this, compiled a list and presented it to the entire unit as her idea. I am so angry!! This has never happened to me before and I am reeling right now. I’m black and she’s white... She’s literally being celebrated right now.
That is awful. The worst feeling. I am experiencing something similar right now. I have worked so hard for eight years at my company....i trained this new kid for 2 months before I went on maternity leave. During that time he kept taking all my thoughts and teachings and talking in meetings like they were his own. I just knew when I came back he would weasel his way into my work and he did. Now HE gets to run the program I designed...i taught him everything. Not to mention I looked over everything he did since I left and he screwed up left and right. It sucks being the one woman on a team. I swear this never would have happened under my previous boss who was a woman. I feel so angry resentful and lost. I am sick of correcting his work so he can get all the credit. I have decided to pull back on offering my help. This was a tough choice for me because i always felt that succeeding as a team helps all of us. But i think i need to let that go....for my own sake.Hope thing s work out for you!!!!
L D1234 I am so, so sorry. Coming back after maternity leave and having to reacclimatize is enough, but having to deal with something so cruel on top of it? I’m sorry. I’ve literally cried this entire day, looked for another job, prayed and now I have only a massive migraine to show for it, lol. I’ve decided to make this the kick in the pants I needed to reinvent and create a new niche, a new corner of expertise. I’m further researching the compilation of ideas she stole and will be making use of old contacts to build on what I gave so unwittingly. I am going to read a book a day on some of these social issues and reconnect within the community to establish ties she can’t even imagine. Will you do the same with me? Think about it and reinvent yourself there. Fuck them, let’s build! He cannot have the mind from which those ideas were stolen. YOU own that. Let’s get up and do this!❤️
If you are reading my comment, pls believe none of the other comments have wise idea: so try this or tell me a better idea:- As you are stronger than your peer, Next time keep your communication in emails. avoid discussing verbally. Never feel guilty. If your peer asks help verbally, tell them you will take a look and will respond in email politely. When u do make sure you copy your manager if applicable. If your peer doesnt ask for help and can manage themself leave it, who cares. If they are finding any legit mistakes from your ideas then correct it If a person is stealing your credit once, they will try to do that next time. DO NOT GIVE A SECOND CHANCE.
I am new to this company My boss asked me to review and give suggestions about their current newsletter. I made the report then during the management meeting, this boss mentioned part of my report and told the bosses that she researched it. I am thinking whether to stay or leave.
Been developing the way forward for a big project with my peers, whilst management haven’t had a clue what to do. Now management see it all coming together, they have made sure they are the ones presenting it to the project director, and not us! The ones who developed it all aren’t invited! Welcome to the corporate world
I once had this co-worker, who would attack our ideas vehemently whenever we raised them in meetings and insist we run it by him first. But each time we made the mistake of telling him first, he would then take credit for it. A lot of juniors allowed him to take credit for their ideas because of the fear of being attacked and discredited by him.
Its not easy to handle the person who is stealing your ideas, especially if he is your senior and is responsible for your appraisal :) . i just dont stop myself in generating more ideas. if i get hurt by this stealing then my idea generation will get affected and that i definitely dont want. i feel some people can never change and are born SEAGUL, they will snatch your bread and will sh*t on you. Just maintain your inner peace.
that sux, my firstname is J o h n and I've met a few coworker that upfront steals credit/idea, I see it as a mental disability, for that's not the way a normal person competes. from - leapfrogging to the boss - presenting the same thing - sugarcoating the same idea and repackaging it as new - racing you to delivery/execution The following doesn't work - Creating a paper-trail (emails / notes) - passive-aggressiveness - calling out the credit stealer - having a 1-on-1 discussion. These people are different, and most likely have a lot of loose screws in the head. (Can you force a fish to climb a tree? No, a fish is designed to swim, in their case, they're designed to steal.) It's all about "leverage" and "facilitator" - A Bad facilitator promotes credit stealing (and a lot of negative things). * if you're not paid well enough to endure them, just leave. - If you don't have leverage, you do not have power in the workplace, they may as well do it to provoke you. * create leverage, or no one will value you, you will always be at risk of being fired. (An extreme example: Some people do hostage-taking valuable information, so it'll be a lose-lose situation )
This happened to me on Friday. My boss asked my colleague to tell people how she uses virtual meetings to meet people but then she acted as if my colleague was the only person who came up with the idea on a huge cal with the bosses on there to present her in a way or position of leadership. How do I handle this situation this morning.
How about those people in position of "leadership" that only increase workers work load and him self does NOTHING? And when something goes wrong he blames the worker but in reality his NO help was the one responsible for the mistake.
Happens to me all the time. I just don’t the energy to battle the little weasels. So I started texting my ideas directly to the boss so that when the little weasel tries to take credit for them. The boss can see directly how shallow this person is 😂
Has this ever happened to you before? Tell us below...

Everyday in my home.

Same
Same with toxi manager I really dont know what to do and he says she doesnt know

Today my boss did this to me too😂😢

Yeah - people are so fucking thick - they don’t know how to think for themselves. They just follow the flock, whoever looks important.

My coworker took my idea and explained it better. how do I call him out and still maintain professional relationship?
Difficult but have to bring it up
Don't be silent. Just tell him about how bad it felt. And tell him not to repeat it in future.
My coworker just did this, compiled a list and presented it to the entire unit as her idea. I am so angry!! This has never happened to me before and I am reeling right now. I’m black and she’s white... She’s literally being celebrated right now.

The worst ever feeling
is it all about being "subtly" affirmative?

This is the best. Currently going through one at the moment.

Yes...it`s so annoying. Thanks for sharing your tips and insights.

You have to fight the seagull! Stop taking everyone’s shit .. so what if he’s your senior! Talk to your seniors Senior about your ideas casually too

I'm a worked-up ball of resentment and rage..
My father now work on subcontract and he is using watermark on his work to prevent theft of intellectual property .
This happened to me, I am black and my coworker was white. I didn’t know what to do then, but I know what to do now
Needed this today!
These people need to end up in the bin 🙄
awesome, sister
Well I I've seen an office worker send there mums to follow people whose ideas they want to steal.
How about those people in position of "leadership" that only increase workers work load and him self does NOTHING? And when something goes wrong he blames the worker but in reality his NO help was the one responsible for the mistake.

Is it a bad idea to complain him to the manager??
This is what I’m going to do tomorrow but I have a great reasonable manager.
Awesome video
i just tell people im a wonderful man
Goku from dragon ball is an example of credit hogger
Ms Dhoni is the master of this
BS. Does not provide a useful strategy.
Useless video. Even if u share your idea with your ally for support, they may try to steal it
