      He's at top of his game right now. All the others were not even at same level. Can he hold onto this conditioning and fitness ? Think about it, he's at his prime right now. Good for him, but people gonna hate on him like crazy because he's so good compared to the others...

    Jett’s speed through rhythms is the key. Watching in person, he pushed through every face instead of taking the load and springing up. It honestly looks like Jett was going forward when everyone else was going up. It was kinda odd. I assumed he was gonna case every other jump but nope. Dude is something else

      Exactly. Jett takes what the momentum gives him and uses it. Too many guys try to horse the bike against the physics at play and it just makes them slower.

    Nice video, JH. I am so glad that I am living (56 yo) in an era that I get to watch and root for Jett. I have watched McGrath, Bradshaw, Stanton, JMB, Emig, Bailey, Carmichael, RV, JS7 etc. etc.... so it isn't like I have not seen pros amongst pros. Jett is the best I've seen, and it isn't close, so crafty.
    There will be another gifted rider someday that captivates everyone, but today it is Jett Lawrence, and it is an amazing watch every time he throws a leg over a bike.

    I remember tallon volland in a gp race during the mid 90s on a factory kx250, there was this long straight with a sharp kicker jump in it maybe 5 to 6ft high and everyone else was hitting it and being shot uk into the air but tallon was wheelying into it flat out and hardly getting any air.it was mind blowing to watch and from then on I always watched him closely cos he was a very technical rider. Tremendous commentary Johnny thanks for the hard work. The way you break down the technical reasons behind why Jet is in a different league helps to put all the hype about him into perspective. No, he doesn't have magic powers😅 he has just taken the sport to the next level like Stewart did back in the day. Correct me if this is inaccurate, but during your analysis @12: 40 when everyone else is using that "breaking" bump as just that, Maximus has a unique way of approaching it (as you pointed out) to stabilize his bike before taking the berm immediately after. It looks like he keeps his front-end light/lifted until that bump, where he then allows it to generate a force to compress his rear suspension. That force then travels forward through his chassis and into his forks, where he can then load the forks, and keep his front tire in contact with the dirt, giving him excellent traction and front-end confidence all the way through the berm to maintain his desired racing line.
    Coming from the world of street riding, dirt riding is a very different ball game, so I don't know all of the ins and outs, but I've kept up with the world of supercross for the last 3 years. It's entertaining seeing just how different the two worlds are while trying to apply fundamentals and foundations from the other side.
    First-time viewer and new subscriber. Great video with awesome technical analysis of riding style and finesse.

    Kool content; subscribed! LoL, I had a riding buddy named Micheal that looks and talks just like you. Freaked me out for a second when I found your channel. Looking forward to listening to your analysis as the year progresses. And yeah, Jett has a track awareness that is at another level. And he instantly adapts to every single little changing condition to take full advantage of each like no one else. I totally agree with your analysis about the little micro-second things he does that add up to seconds over time. I mean, how the hell does a 20 year old kid learn to go so damn fast so fast, lol. Just so awesome to watch this guy. Lastly, I'm all in on Webb right now. I think he's is going to be the one to give Jett some anxiety.

      .... in his mind, it was likely as easy as the start straight. Incredible rider, and every single race he gives us something else to ponder. Just a talent that no one else really offers. He may not win them all, but crashing aside, he will be right there. And I don't care how much better Tomac gets as the season progresses, he won't have anything for Jett other than a few races where it gets a little competitive for 6 minutes or so. Just my opinion.

    Sexton was trying to carry that front wheel across the starting line. Seems a little agro though, might get him into trouble at some point. In that turning sand roller section, coop did it smart. And took advantage of the g out between roller 2 and three. Jett finessed the shit out of it like a super saucy smart rider. The pre jump off of the breaking bump was crucial! And Mr Hopper I do believe what Jett was doing in that corner before that awkward hip, is a road racing technique called trail braking... Most moto guys think trail braking is only a front brake technique used to keep the front wheel tracking through a deep rut. In road bike racing it's often used to keep the bike settled when it's leaned over through a long or rough sweeper. The corner in this video has an awkward gap between the exit of the corner and to take off of the hip. I'm thinking that was trailbreaking to keep the shock loaded all the way from the apex of the corner. If you look at Anderson compared to Jett., Jetts bike was a lot more stable through the corner. And it looked to be more of a one emotion sort of thing from the corner through that little hip.. and he might have also had the advantage of the little bit of pop that comes from releasing the back brake suddenly right before he compressed into that hip lip. That's something that's cool as hell to sit here and try to analyze. But to that kid it must flow. So naturally it must feel like a video game to him. Incredible

  • @tsales330
    @tsales330 8 місяців тому

    Jett rides like he’s racing bmx, he stays low and keeps his movements to a minimum. Like when he wheelies over a roller he only lifts the tire up just enough to clear it or when he jumps thru the rhythm lane he lands perfectly at the same angle of the landing an uses the whole landing to accelerate that little bit more than someone that jumps a foot or two more. Also in bmx racing everything the riders do really smooth and flowing just like Jett rides. I wonder if he ever rode bmx in anyway as a kid even if it was just riding with friends

  • @dag681
    @dag681 8 місяців тому

    Jett is going incrementally faster over the whole course. Constantly , just enough. In the straight before the left hander he was hard on the throttle. Then finesses the brakes in order to get through then perfectly hammer the throttle just right. He is one with that machine. Riders like cooper and jason, as fast as they are, look like it’s them and the motorcycle, not symbiotic like Jett. It seems small, but it is everything.

  • @DeanCottier-iw1nw
    @DeanCottier-iw1nw 8 місяців тому +1

    It looks like Jett was using the rear brake to help turn the bike L, where Jason was only prepared to brake in straight line. Jett has no weaknesses to exploit. He leaves no stone unturned. Starts ✅, driving early off turns, sets up suspension for whoops ✅, creating energy in the heat of he battle ✅, getting the rear wheel down driving down jump faces✅ reading of a changing surface is sublime ✅ fuels confidence ✅ lines up passes, controlled aggressive attacks on first turn ✅, keeps the bike low over jumps✅, is a mental beast ✅ thrives on the pressure ✅ engages with fans ✅ flows the bike when cornering through his balance✅, when not on the brake he is on the gas, exposes sponsors✅, interacts well with the media✅. And his upper and lower body movements and flexability, along with his awesome posture, thinks and looks ahead ✅, adjusts fast on the back of a average race meeting ✅. He is the only racer I have ever seen that I could not find a weakness in, to be able to help improve. But I will keep looking and learning from him, I hope someone like his brother gets the speed to hang with him, so I get to see more of him on TV screen. The new 🐐 is here to stay, watch out it has only just begun and he is always striving to better himself and race safer ✅✅✅✅

His average lap time over the entire main event was a full second above the next fastest guy, Chase, who finished 3rd (thanks to Webb crashing) and finished 15+ seconds behind Jett. We haven't seen a fraction of his top speed in SX and it's deceiving because his goal isn't to destroy the competition like we have seen with RC or Stew. Mx bikes are using the same ecu mapping tricks drag racing guys use. They retard timing for a very short duration which temporarily limits power for the first 10 to 20ft to maximize wheelspin and traction. It allows the riders to be able to hold the throttle wide open every start, every time, for repeatable starts. Id guess it is on a timer and they slightly tweak it for the dirt and length of the start at every track.

    The only way to beat Jett is to get in front of him at the gate drop and hope he makes mistake pushing it that little bit extra as we seen with Webb in the heat.

    Jetts bike was pulled down the most by far in MX and got most of the holeshots so i wonder if other teams have copied. Your tripple quad theory in some what valid with the lips but a SX table table section is much shorter then a double double section. Double double also has way more risk but its mainly the length and risk difference that makes it a true quad in my opinion. Table Table is a cheater quad and so is a double table.

    Aren't they just using holeshot device's to keep the forks down?

    How about Coops nose wheely into the turn on moto 1. Jett started doing it after. I think he started in moto 2.

    The only way for tomac to compete with jett is to go on his 2015 form. And i doubt this is going to happen.

    Johnny. I’m coming around on you a little. I like these videos that breakdown the technical stuff that went on in the race. Thanks.
    (Also, Sextons wheelie off the little corner table was cool, but not that impressive. Lots of guys were doing that Saturday night. After watching Villo and JS do it way bigger on way bigger jumps, it’s hard to be impressed by that little one. Just saying).

    I think eventually things are gonna start getting bumpy meaning I expect there will be more bar banging coming this season. McGrath was like that just so technically perfect like a student of the physics of the bike and the track. It is fun to watch.
