- One California death row inmate's legal battle has captured worldwide attention, even high-profile people from Pope Francis to Kim Kardashian West. Kevin Cooper has always maintained he did not kill three members of a family and their guest in 1983. Last year, an order from Governor Newsom for more DNA testing and new witness testimony gave Cooper a chance for freedom. Erin Moriarty meets with Cooper face-to-face for a new "48 Hours," airing on CBS Saturday at 10/9c.

DNA tests that show DNA of another person(s) present at the crime would not exonerate him. Supporters would need to present evidence that his DNA on the wall, in the car and on shirt was planted. Empty vials, and the fact that it appears multiple attackers were present does not mean he was not there.
Two cigarettes were found AFTER cigarettes went missing from his hideout; the blood on the wall was found under laughably dicey circumstances, by a guy who was stealing heroin from the evidence locker. The blood on the shirt could have also been planted. EDTA testing seemed to back that up despite the judge shamelessly stacking the deck.
Well it’s his blood and dna 🤷♀️

@@Jukeboxxxz I saw Doug Ryen on my property a few months before he died. Are you going to blame it on me just because I'm one of the people who came across him during his lifetime? I will give you this:Kevin Cooper could have done it, or he could not have done it.
There was an unknown third profile, high amounts of preservative AND the vial containing just his blood had blood from at least two people (Before oh so mysteriously vanishing.)

In reality, there are no questions about his guilt. There's no doubt whatsoever by anybody who is familiar with the case.

I believe he had something to do it...and there was other's involved...and he's sticking to the code by not talking...
Considering that evidence was checked out by a guy who was busted forging evidence elsewhere it makes sense. He was also excluded from the towel used by the killer to wipe their face.
Now if it was your family you liberal cry baby it would probably be a different tune I have somewhere down the line in your family comes in the contact with pure evil and something bad happens and then people fight for the evil the show it's innocent when you know it's guilty

@@judithpetersonful I think the person who did it was executed years ago. Kevin Cooper may not know anything about how Doug Ryen was murdered, or he may know more than he is telling. Law enforcement has zero tolerance for people who say and do things that a murderer would say and do. This is why 4 percent of people in prison are not guilty.
