  • Performing operations on decimal numbers are quite different as to performing operations on other numbers. You would ask why? Well, decimals numbers use the ten number system that is the place values.
If you see a dot between numbers it is a decimal number. The numbers at the left of a decimal point are whole numbers whereas numbers on right are fractions. This fractional number represents a place value. If you have one digit after the decimal point it is in the ones place, if two then hundredths and so on.
To perform operations on decimal numbers one must remember to think decimal numbers as whole numbers that is, without the point. Confused? Let’s find out how to solve basic operations on decimal numbers.
