Aimee Michelle Tech support scammers don't ask for that much, it must have been an IRS scammer.
It was actually a phone scam relating to her bank account where they tricked her into giving her information, then cleaned it out completely. So no not the same thing but I wanted to express gratitude to DVR for giving my grandmother a laugh when she was feeling sad and silly about the whole thing.
Hopefully this clears it up for you.
And we don't have IRS here in Australia, not everyone is from the US!
Aimee Michelle I know not everyone is from the US, thanks for letting me know that valuable information. The US has a 325 million population over Australia so yes I did make an assumption when you used the $ symbol even though both places do.
Relating to her bank account? In what way? Even elderly people are aware enough to not give their bank account information for no reason over the phone. The other thing is that I don't think it's possible to move that much money out of an account at once for security reasons. Unless your Grandmother just didn't check her account for a long time.
Most of these stories I hear are from women and I think they're exaggerating or being dramatic to get noticed in the comments.

This was awesome and it did sound like a slap lol! I found your channel after searching to see if anyone actually got even with those scam call centers and i'm glad there's people like you. Just wish THEY lost their savings instead of vulnerable people. Love that black hat grandma stayed in character at the end rofl! BOOM! The captions helped follow what was going on. Thanks Great video Granny was great. I live in an apartment building for elderly disabled people and they get scammers calling all the time. I have some computer skills, so I help maintain their tech. I constantly find garbage that some scammer sold them and put on their computer or tablets that is a virus. Or they clicked on the wrong spot and got a virus or something worse. One computer had a ransomware on it that said call microsoft support. Took me a while to clear that one up. Wish my techie skills were better. Most of my neighbors just need better computers and tablets,,,, No Money ,,,, Thanks for the very informative video. You have helped me to better understand what my neighbors are getting into by these scammers.
you should install K9 web protection on their devices. Its lightweight, and prevents ALOT of bad links from being even opened! also its free you just need to sign up and request a license key! 100% free and very very effective!
