I'm not a fly fisherman, but I tie similar on a 1/32oz jig head for ice fishing. Trout love these leech patterns.
Awesome! We use these through the ice as well! An all around fish catcher for sure! Thanks for watching and tightlines out there!
Thanks love the day tripping thing. Merry Christmas to you and Rob.
Good stuff and thanks for sharing!
I am a huge proponent of tying simple flies the work, and these are just that.
I tie variations of both of these flies for my local water and they are killers!
Simple Slays! :)
Hi Moose!
Simple, yet effective! No need to get crazy if the fish crush it anyways!
You betcha! Thanks for watching!
Awesome ties. What size bead & hook are you using for the M&M. Thanks
We tie them in a #10 & #12 2X with 7/64 & 3/32 beads respectively ... ;)
Cheers. I’m wondering if the orange bead is a standard slotted bead or a tungsten head turner bead from Canadian Llama? Thank you for posting the video.
Either will work but we like the head turners from Canadian llama and this pattern uses one of them. You can get them here: tinyurl.com/yckp29s4 Thanks for watching!
You run the m&m under an indicator? Does it hang balanced?
You can fish it with or without an indicator. The head turner bead does help to present it close to balanced. I still prefer a loop knot but if you use a clinch knot in the right spot you can get it to ride balanced. Prefer the loop knot because imo range of motion is more important that riding perfectly horizontal. Hope that helps, thanks for the question and for checking out the video. Cheers!
