- Mahindra Thar’s 5-door version - Roxx - was finally launched in India on the evening of India’s 77th Independence Day. Similar to the 3-door version, it’s based on the same Scorpio N platform but several changes has been made to it to accommodate an extra row of seats and a bigger boot. The vehicle’s cabin too has seen an overhaul as it receives a revised dashboard layout that now accommodates a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster screen, soft touch material on top of the dash, a 360 degree camera, ventilated seats, electrically-adjustable driver seat, auto-dimming IRVM, panaromic sunroof, harmon-kardon music system, wireless charger, wireless apple carplay and android auto among others. So far we only know the prices of its base variants, the petrol base costs Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and the diesel base costs Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). More details on its performance will be updated on 17th August. Stay tuned for that.

Looks so practical for families. The size, ergonomics, tactile buttons, good storage space, cup holders, ventilated seats, good music setup, no hump in the rear, good boot size and the list goes on.
The only downside is the size of the car which makes it difficult for everyday city use. Could have provided an option with panaromic glass and rear ventilated seats at this price point. It'd be interesting to see how this car drives on highway.
Oh! The door handle really stands out. Mahindra should rectify it.

Thar top portion is not plastic, but metal. Colorful PPF wrapping can be done on that part, giving fresh look to the vehicle every year.. I feel the overhanging spare wheel should be removed for better looks and for easy access to the boot. Better if we can get non-sunroof variant

Was out on the road driving with my kids
Saw some cars where the kids were sitting out on the sun roof with the tricolour in their hands 😮 .
Some two wheelers were driving on the wrong side of the road !! Some jumping red light ! People crossing the street by jumping over the divider , some even making reels in the middle of the road with the tricolour in their hands 😢
We as a country still have a long way to go when it comes to road safety !

Finally a practically thar. Mahindra understood that people don't want a barebones hardcore offroader, instead they want a plush and practical rwd car with a big road presence. Pricing is also good.
