@Aldo Sosa he meant like Harrison Ford or Tom Cruise. Honestly he would have been miserable. He likes doing work he respects. I've known Chris through his kids and Honestly he's the nicest Guy in person and ridiculously good looking.
100% he's an amazing actor. I read where fans said that he mentioned in an interview how at some point he had to put out a lot of work due to financial situation. That coincides with what he said here about his second marriage, when his films weren't great (no big or meaty roles). Then it was just guest TV spots. IDK why the studios didn't scoop him up for better roles. He looks amazing for his age too.
@@LaurenMiddleton28 how great you know him. Not surprised to hear he is nice. But what do you mean by him being miserable? From what he said here about his 2nd marriage I'm thinking it was the reason he was forced to do those 90s films. He should've gotten a big role here and there and he's so talented. It would surprise me to hear he turned down good work to do those not great films and only guest spots. People would LOVE to see him in one or two of those Harrison Ford type films.
Love Chris Sarandon. One movie of his that, in my opinion, is very underrated is a film called "Lipstick"... his performance is great in that film. He was a great villain in that one. "The Sentinel" is another underrated and great film.
He certainly doesn’t look 80… I’ve always loved Chris Sarandon since I was a small girl… he was a constant in my childhood I watched him in so much.. and fright night is just a classic I still love it even though I’m 48 and a grandma…
This week’s episode is delightful. Chris definitely opens up and has so many great stories. His career is very interesting. A part 2 would be great. His memoir is going to be awesome. Michael is a matchmaker. Your grandma is a gem. Family is so important.
Chris has been a major part of my childhood from Fright Night to Nightmare to Princess Bride (which is and always will be my favorite movie of all time). Loved hearing his many stories and as always a great interview.
I love Chris but I remember meeting him at a con-show and a guy was taking pictures around the room and when the camera was in Chris's direction he blocked his face my thought was wow! I had never seen that before..
I know everyone always thinks of Fright Night, Princess Bride and Nightmare Before Christmas when they think of Chris Sarandon, but my favorite role of his was when he guest starred on Star Trek Deep Space Nine. He played sort of a con man version of Whoopi Goldberg's Guinan character, same species but instead of helping he was 'listening' to rip people off. Just delightful, kind of like Prince Humperdinck but not as malevolent.
This was a fantastic interview! Chris is incredible in his films, even the low budget films like The Resurrected. He played a very creepy Joseph Curwen in that H.P. Lovecraft film. His performance is fun to watch. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a convention and he was extremely affable. We spoke briefly about that character and Fright Night. Yes, he does look and sound amazing for being 80!
So wonderful, thank you. I'm a big fan of Chris Sarandon. It's unbelievable, such a charming person, still good looking with 80 and still so full of ideas and brillant. Great interview.
I couldn't believe he's 80 when I was listening to this at work. He looks really incredible, very sharp and energetic. Would love if you got William Ragsdale on. I grew up watching his stuff - Herman's Head, Frankenstein: The College Years, Brothers Keeper. He's _really_ talented and seems forgotten in the public eye. It's a damn shame.
This was delightful! I didn't even realize Chris was Jack, I love his performance! I would have asked if he got to hang out with Danny Elfman, and how that was. Chris was fantastic as the voice of Kurotowa in Nausicaa too! Now I need to look up Fright Night, you two really sold his performance. Thank you both!
Hi Michael, great episode with an awesome actor. When i saw The Nightmare Before Christmas i waited for the credits to know who made the voice of Jack Skellington and was the first time that heard about Chris Sarandon. Right away i look for him on the internet and go to my local video club to rent movies in which he performed. And you're right: he played bad guys but he's so likely. Fright Night is my favourite by far.
@@iamdonnietae Yeah I mean it's possible, women look way younger than their age I think we're so used to seeing guys look older or their age it's surprising whenever we see a guy not look his age.
I ACTUALLY enjoyed his episode on Star Trek Deep Space Nine! His character was a charming sneaky neerdo well scammer who competed with Quark! Some people diss it as boring all I could think of was Prince Humperdink IN SPAAACE!!
What a treat, gentlemen. Mr. Rosenbaum, you continue to surprise. It's a joy to sit in on this interview. I've been a fan of Mr. Sarandon's work for decades. One thing I've always perplexed me was his underutilized role in Deep Space 9? Regardless, gentlemen, you've made my day. Bravo!
Great interview and fantastic podcast! I've been watching on UA-cam for a while now but got on the app so I could finally leave a comment. Also really enjoy the Talkville podcast, keep up the great work!
Roddy McDowall is amazing as Jervis Tetch in Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures. He brought the classic gentleman quality with ease.
What a great guest! I really enjoyed hearing your excitement over asking his questions about Nightmare Before Christmas and Princess Bride too. I'm definitely going to check out his podcast. Sounds fantastic!

Chris is a person who has managed to direct his life despite the difficulties. Being different from others must be hard, but his charisma and his intelligence and his big heart led him to success. A beautiful person. Admirable. 💐🙏🙏
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode, Chris has a very easy to listen to voice and his tales are engaging. It’s also nice to be able to relate to places and actors such as Sean Connery and Hadden Hall which was also used for ‘Jane Eyre’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice’. On another note I’m glad you went to visit Blanche she sounds to be a lovely lady and obviously adores you.
