ABBA (Agnetha, Björn, Benny, Annifrid AKA Frida) basically ruled the world from mid-70s to early 80s. Hundreds of millions records sold.
But the units aren't the point. They have at least 30 songs of this caliber for you to listen to. They cared enough to fill every crevice of a tune with subtle harmonies and little surprises. Benny Andersson is the only person I'd put on an equal footing with Brian Wilson as a pop composer.
    So, recommendations:
    The Name of The Game
    SOS
    Knowing Me, Knowing You
    The Visitors
    Gimme, Gimme, Gimme
    For a start.

ABBA recorded songs in 5 languages. English was not their first language. They also recorded in Swedish, German, French and Spanish. Amazingly talented.

Pretenders, Heart, Eurythmics, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin, Annie Lennox ( Eurythmics), so many more. Expand your mind lol. Thanks. Great song.

Sad fact. Her x-husband playing guitar next to her, wrote that song from his prospective and she had to sing it.

Not entirely true. Yes, the song was about a break up and they were breaking up as a couple at that time, but he didn’t write about their divorce in particular, and he did not write in from his perspective. Björn has explained this in many interviews. You also make it sound like she was forced to sing it - that’s a bit harsh and of course not the case.

I grew up with abba. I was the ultimate ABBA fan and my sister still is. The information was from numerous interviews he gave explaining the song. He may have changed that view over the years but it was well known.
She has also said in interview that it was hard to sing.
That was the end of ABBA

This song was written and recorded right after the lead singer & the composer divorced. It was the last time she recorded or performed with the group. She hasn't even participated in any of the Mama Mia movie & Broadway play hoopla. She's now a recluse who doesn't travel ouside of Sweden.
