I'm still 15, but I'm trying to pursue my dream of becoming a software engineer, and I also want to do my part to making this world be more open. This video inspires me to study harder in grade 9, and I appreciate it.
I super agree on practice solving everyday! And his advise was life-changing.
I appreciate the analysis of the importance of every required subject/course you take in each year level. And I agree with the “failing” part of this video. Thankful to the community I was surrounded with when I was in UPLB that pushed me to finish the course, especially to YSES for giving me that added “pressure” to be excellent in what I do (hello GWA requirement. Hahaha!). Kudos David and Ysers! 😁
Hello po, I am planning to take Computer Science din po kaso nakakabahala lang yung sinasabi ng iba about sa Ageism issue sa tech field. Like pag mga 40-50, they considered you as old person na po and have a high tendency na matanggal sa work. Are you worried about this din po ba or it depends paren sa skill mo, like as long as you have the skill, tuloy lang yung career natin sa tech world. Sana po masagot. Salamattt.
Hello! Ang layo naman ng iniisip mo agad! Hahah! That's all that matters. And besides, a lot can happen in a few decades. Surely ay hindi naman magstistick ka lang to coding your whole life. Based din sa nakikita ko sa ibang tao, nagproprogress sila into management, or yung iba ay nagstastart ng sarili nila na kumpanya. And yung iba truly enjoy what they do and still code. Whichever is more appropriate for you, hindi ba? :) Good luck! I'm rooting for you! - David

Hi! Thanks for watching our video 😁 First of all, you can definitely take CS regardless of your strand in SHS. However, IMO you're really gonna need a strong foundation in Math if you want to survive the first few subjects in the CS curriculum in UPLB. This foundation is built through Pre Calculus classes taken by STEM students, which I'm not sure if ABM students take. So yes, you can take CS, but it may be a bit harder. But it's definitely not impossible with hard work and practice 😁💙 I assume that you're about to enter SHS since you mentioned you're about to take ABM. I just want to say that a lot can still happen in 2 years. I hope you'll make an informed decision when you apply for college 🙏🏻 - David
Hindi ko kasi natake yung ICT eh :( pero sa tingin ko okay naman either way :) Mas marami lang ata math sa STEM which is beneficial sa first year subjects. - David
Is it true that the CS curriculum in UP is research inclined? *Edit*: I found out that UPD has different course code compared to UPLB and UPB. Is it because CS in UPB and UPLB are more similar than UPD? Another thing is yung CS sa UPB at UPLB ay under ng CAS while CS in UPD ay sa COE. Bakit po kaya?
By research inclined, am not so sure what you mean by this. Not too familiar din with the curriculum of other campuses eh! I apologize 😥 Thank you for your question though! We appreciate it. We just can't risk giving out false information as we're not too sure about that haha - David

Hello! Yes you can apply! If you're planning to take your masters in UPLB, you can check the requirements through this link: ics.uplb.edu.ph/degree/ms In order to apply, you need to have a bachelor's degree in any institution with a GWA of 2.0 or better, proficient in at least one programming language, and with at least 2 years of IT-related work experience (waived if the applicant is a BS in Computer Science, BS in IT or BS in Information Management graduate of a reputable school). As a finishing MS Math student, I tend to sppreciate that I’ve gone through all those “experiential” subjects. Over the years, I think I’ve become more analytical especially when it comes to thinking abstractly. This is probably why heavy sa math ang computer science. As a computer scientist, the world doesn’t only expect you to know how to do (coding), but also know why things are done this way or whatever, or maybe embark on an idea of doing things at least slightly differently, etc. Planning to study PhD in Applied Math sa UPLB as soon as I’m done with my thesis, with specialization in data science or computing. I think I’m in a good position😊
@@Dino-pk5hcsiguro, pero di ko trip ang ganyang level of learning. I have deep interest in doing research kasi, so more experience in the academe is what I need.
