They've been playing Ghost Mania a lot on the current tour (I think all three shows I went to had it in the setlist) and it sounds much better live because their vocals are so much better six years later. They started playing it to accommodate whoever is the guest vocalist from the other band they played with during their 2-man tour in Japan in the beginning of the year and just kept it in I guess. The other singer would take Yojiro's part (the ending with the headbanging riff lol), but in Europe Yukina would just sing the whole thing herself.

This is one of my favourite songs, I love Hanabie and can't wait to see them again this year in Australia.

I watched Zen live by Nemophila last night and this illustrates why I am lukewarm to it, even though people rave about how brilliant and “heavy” it is - it doesn’t have enough “musical” elements in it. It doesn’t have an actual melody. This is why Hanabie are winning, Matsuri always makes sure the track has something musically soothing in it, or something really catchy. She is a tiny genius with the biggest sound in Japan right now.

Interesting point! I must admit that, as much as I love Seize The Fate, Zen is easily my least favourite song on that album, but shockingly seems to be most people's favourite. I think that a fair comparison would be Enten, which is an absolutely stunningly written song.
I don't often like comparing bands as they very often have their own merits, and Nemophila were a band of stunning musicians who seemed to learn to find a songwriting voice in realtime as we observed.
I feel Hanabie is a songwriting powerhouse, who learnt to choose the sounds by which to express themselves. We have heard them tighten up but add so many more interesting sounds since this first album.
So, I love that both bands are growing. To me, so long as a band shows that they are developing in how they create their music, that is always a massive win for me.
I think both bands are showing that, but SOOOO differently :)
      Thanks for the interesting comment!

@@BakaBreakdown Don’t get me wrong, I have been a big advocate of Nemophila from the very start and I think some of their music is extremely good. This was just a stark contrast of two reaction videos that painted a picture for me.
I’m still waiting for what we see from Nemo post Saki - I’m quietly optimistic but not brimming with confidence.

@@allanmoger1838 Oh yes, sorry, I totally assumed you were starting from a good faith standpoint :) . I am also quite optimistic about the reduced line up. No disrespect to Saki, but I hope they go on with just the one guitarist, as I tend to find that not having two guitarists is a fantastic way to grow as songwriters, because the one guitar has to be much more deliberate about everything it does, and the truth is that a song doesn't need two guitars to sound heavy as hell if they want, but it also gives them more opportunity to be delicate should they wish too. Certainly looking forward to it.... although you have now made me think how much I'd enjoy a Nemophila Hanabie collab ;)

@@BakaBreakdown Hanabie and Nemophila are very different. Nemophila is several notches more professional. Matsuri is good at chugging, but Hazki is on another level altogether. Same with Chika and Tamu, and also Hettsu and Haraguchi-san actually, even if Haraguchi-san is less seasoned than Hazki and Tamu. Personally I hope that Hazki starts to sing more, she is very good at singing. Mixing harsh vocals and clean vocals is fire!

@@rolandkarlsson7072 Interesting obvservations there although I would disagree about the use of the word 'professional' as, like you mentioned, they are very different and so we need to define what that scale is. I think Hanabie's writing and song structure is far more developed than the majority of their peers, whereas Nemophila's prowess as musicians is pretty legendary given they are essentially a super group from inception. I think Nemophila often get more credit because musicianship is easier to spot than songwriting, but unique songwriters are far more rare.
So (controversial subjective comment incoming lol) if I was making a band and had to lock in one of those 8 girls first, I'd pick Matsuri everytime :)
Intrigued to see how people feel about that point of view!
      Thanks again for the viewpoint!

Very good song, but the best (for me) on the EP comes at the end.
