One thing to think of is before connecting the fresh water, flush out the spigot before attaching your hose. You never know if there's rust in the line or any critters climbed in there.
I carry a spray bottle with a 20% bleach/80% water solution and always spray the water tap and surrounding area first before even touching it. The last thing that tap may of been used for was to flush out a sewer hose or worse! I also let it run a bit too before connecting up my water filter and fresh water RV hose.
@Pauljohn696969 I carry a can of Lysol Disinfectant and spray everything before I handle anything. Like you, I spray the water tap and handle but I also spray the electrical panel door where you handle it to open/close it and mist the breaker switches. I spray the sewer cap as well before I open it to attach the 90 degree elbow for the sewer hose. We hit the picnic table and benches with the Lysol as well....who knows what was on it before we arrived. Another win for Team Clean Hands! 😆😆
So I’m brand new, heading to buy my Brinkley this weekend for full time RV living. I’ve watched tons of videos and research, but I’m still slightly confused on the water. Once you hook it up with Y, filter, pressure regulator, and hose. It connects to a port on your RV and then you just have unlimited water? The grey and black water tanks don’t stay open right? You would just go outside and empty them every night since you’re connected to sewer? Thanks a ton!!

Always put your water filter on the high pressure side of your pressure regulator! You will be glad you did when your filter reduces your water flow dramatically on the low pressure side.
As a part of our travel day checklist, I check the tires for any abnormal wear. I also check the leaf springs and shackles to make sure everything looks good.
Plug the surge protector in electrical box, flip switch and check power before plugging in your electric cord to surge protector to verify good power. If something is wrong with the power the surge protector will let you know. Once you verify safe power, turn off power box and plug in your power cord to surge protector, then other end of power cord to camper. Now turn on your power at box again. This insures that you don’t let a power problem get into your camper and start messing things up inside.
That Y valve was a good idea! I have been RVing for a lot of years. That just proves a person can still learn something new. By the way We own a 2014 Denali and can sympathize. Ours has cost us a lot in repairs also.
Never thought about using the hose bib tee at the spigot for releasing pressure. That's a good idea. One of the best things we did with our hose setup was to install *quick connects* at the wet bay for both the fresh water and black flush. So much faster and easier than screwing and unscrewing the hose. We also got some super cheap little marker flags on 18 inch wires. If our slides are at head bumping level, we clamp a flag hanging down from it so it gets our attention if we're looking down. We also hang one on the outside of the propane bay whenever we turn it on, where we can see it easily in the mirror if we forget to turn it off before pulling away. Thanks for the video!
It's a good idea to recheck the king pin after every stop. There are horror stories of people stopping and some $*#*/>÷ pulling the release while the driver is in the store/station and they just.come back and drive off dropping the trailer on the tail of the truck.
7 yrs as a truck driver mine never got pulled yet. I always tug test before taking off after being away from the truck. Some people aren't to be trusted
Great video as always! A few things I would add is when hooked up and ready to go we always do a light check and pull tests. We lock all out compartments (do not ask me how I know, but they can open). Also for the stinky slinky (what we call it) we always add a P-trap this helps with odors from the campground sewer and those wonderful sewer flies. Safe travels and I look forward to the next video!
It would be best if you folks had a Waste Master sewer hose that comes 20' with a ball valve at the PVC pipe connection. The best hose on the market runs about $130.00 E Trailer.

As a retired physician says that it bothers her more when people use gloves when emptying the black water cause most think that they don't have to wash their hands if they are wearing them. To avoid montezumas revenge ALWAYS wash hands after emptying black tanks. She watch's me like a hawk. lol

Air Compressor - I initially used a 12V comp but it took a while and sometimes overheated. I now use a small "pancake" 110V that I can use morning of leaving if full hookup or anytime with/without portable generator or inverter. It stores compressed air always at the ready. Travel Trailer leaves plenty of room in the truck bed and the extra 80# weight (comp + gen) over the rear axle. Boondocking-ready!
I remembered from a video I watched before we picked up our Brinkley that they said to travel with the bedroom door closed. During the walk through they didn’t say so I asked and she confirmed closed. Didn’t see that so I thought I’d mention . Not sure if it is a must or if it helps structurally but we know how things get out of whack and won’t shut properly after time. They were in charge of closing it up and when we got home one of the pillows wasn’t attached back to the couch and got behind the slide and cracked the wood frame. So that too is on my checklist to check nothing fell into the slide. Even when nothing could be since I put the pillows away. 😂
Have you ever thought of black Velcro on your current rods? Small patch on the flat side of the of the hook and a small patch on the rod. Should hold it in place for travel days

On the sewer hose hookup, I’d add to make sure the “O” rings are in each fitting. I’ve had them fall out and you will never get a proper seal without them. I also carry extra O rings in case I lose one or one gets damaged. Great idea for the Y on the water hose to release the pressure. Also on the water hose filter, I used a white one instead of the blue standard one that was supposed to be better but it was horrible. It kept putting pieces of black stuff inside my sink sprayer which I had to take apart and clean multiple times until it finally broke and had to be replaced. And it took me forever to get all the black specks out of my fresh water tank.
Give RainX a try on your shower doors, it helps keep the water off the doors. As far as the air compressor I have Milwaukee cordless tools and I use the M18 air compressor and love it.
I agree. In ours, it's very easy to see if it's actually latched all the way or not. However, it is definitely a good idea to still do it before the front jacks are all the way up.
Your slow leaking tire may just have a valve core not screwed in enough. Remove the valve cap then put soapy water over the core to see if it bubbles up.
Before connecting the hose to our filter I run a little water through the filter first. Black comes out for a second. I am glad that doesn't go through our coach. We have a Class A.
Team clean hands!! Such a great video to confirm so much of what we already do. Thanks for the tip about putting something between the pantry door and slide (we have a Brinkley also). For water filtration, we use a three stage BluTech. Also use a clear elbow and 3 foot clear tube in the sewer line to better monitor the outflow.
We’re currently in Arizona which has the WORST water. Blue filter at the spigot, three stage Clear Source filter built in AND an On the Go softener. Even with all of that I had to start using LemiShine in the dishwasher. All is good now. 👍🏻 Hubby turns on the TPMS the day before travel. We always check the lights before pulling out. (Btw, I have a new nickname for hubby, Poo poo hands! 🤣🤣🤣 He uses hand sanitizer, but I think it should be gloves…)
In colder temperatures your tire pressure will decrease, colder air does condense. The recommended tire pressure by the manufacture is to be maintained at that level when the tire is cool

I purchased a device called a DUMP BUDDY which straps around the park sewer drop and goes over your elbow to hold the elbow in place when the threads don't work.
I made my own water filters from the household canister style. Used 2 of them mounted to a piece of tread plate. Angle aluminum for the feet. Install whatever micron filters you like. Easy, cheap and available.
Nice, I use a clear 90 at both ends of my sewer line. And a clear source, 3 stage filter on my water line. I also put my water pressure regulator after my water filters, so if the pressure in the waterline is higher, I get that pressure going through my water filters. Creekfire is one of our favorite campgrounds. They have a good resturant in the south end by the lake and we love the Lazy River. As for the checklist we do follow a written one on our phones and it has saved us money. On the surge protector should plug it in first check the power then plug in the trailer. We have found ground faults twice before. Someone should be outside when extending popouts. Anyone who has hit a faucet or power box new it was clear. You can blead water pressure off in the nautilus tank fill valve by turning it on and off. Our rig came with a built in filter but for drinking water we just use a "Pur" water pitcher, fast, easy and no extra gear.
Yes! We should have clarified that when we plugged the power cord in to check the power first, it wasn’t attached to our RV yet, we just keep the surge protector attached to the cord because they aren’t really fun to attach/unattach all the time. And we really like the feature with the “One Control” app on the new RV, where we can extend slides from the app. That way one of us can stand outside and extend it to watch if there are any “items” around (after checking it’s clear inside first of course)
You guys need to get a real surge protector with ems from Hughes… also check out their auto formers they raise the power when the campground is low and save all your electronics like the ac units…

Hi Victoria, for your plants in the bedroom, I put a small bungee cord across the opening. Cup hooks on the sides. Be sure to check the shore power before unhooking your rig in case the power is bad. Saves rehooking up if you have to.

I got the Blu Technology water filter and softener system earlier this year and it is absolutely awesome! It’s way smaller than the Clear Source one. ok so i use a clear source water filter...works great...also I use a 4way splitter on the water supply so I can supply water to the rv and to the black tank...also different color hoses for city water and black tank...the other 2 are if i want to bring a water hose to the other side for whatever reason...I also use quick release connectors on all my water lines and a digital guage so when i clean the black tank i know how many gallons are goin in...
Check out Blu Technologies, they make a compact water filter setup down to 0.2 micron and all the canisters are stainless steel. They have supplied many UA-camrs with units to review so maybe hit them up. Many people with 5th wheels have room to install them inside so it’s still an easy one hose hookup. I just install their Trio 3 stage and their stainless steel compact water softener in my motorhome and it has been great, on our trip back East, you should have seen how bad the filters looked after only 2 months! Love your videos, you guys keep it fun.

Does Craig wear rubber gloves in the bathroom too? Ps, always test your sewer connection by turning the grey water on first for five seconds, that way if there is a leak/mistake, it's a grey mistake /leak, not a black one disaster! 😊
I use a standard 2 filter system, 2.5 x 10 inch carbon filters, 5 micron and a 1 micron filter, those blue filters are only rated at 20 micron, I prefer them over the specialty filters since the cartriges are standard size and easy to get, I also travel with as portable water softener also . The filter kit I purchased has a metel bracket that holds both filters as a single unit and had the 3/4 host attachments already on them as well as the softener system. I also have the 50 amp watchdog surge system that will shut down power to the RV is an issue is detected to protect it.
Hi guys!!! Another great video. We had a blast in Carlsbad. Spent a couple days in Deming at a full hook up park so we could take long showers and do a good flush of our tanks. You are going to love this, I had to bring out my second hose for sewer . Being the first time I attached a second hose I forgot to remove the stoppers, and when I went to drain the tanks, they were not emptying out. I’m freaking out because I think that the pipes have frozen overnight and since we are new to this I don’t know what to do. Now I have this un sanitized liquid that has gone from the valve to the hose but it’s not going through the hose. I shut the valve but I still have this “liquid” sitting between the valve shut off and the beginning of the hose. Should I go on? What a mess. Thank God I had my gloves on. Always learning… out of all the videos that I have watched from the different RVers. I don’t think anyone has mentioned, don’t forget to take the stoppers off your sewer hose before you connect it. 😂😂😂 Safe travels 🤍
I’m curious as to why people hook up the sewer hose even for a single over night stay…why not wait until you are going to dump? It just seems to me to be a waste of time. Unless Hubs is ok with handling the stinky slinky I plan leaving it be unless we need it. It’ll be one less thing to trip over!
If I am at a full hookup site for only a couple of days, I will wait until the last day to attach the "stinky slinky", so I only have to deal with the exposure one time. I hook it up, dump, and put away at one time.
My checklist is so much simpler being that I am in a motorhome and flat towing a car.😊 I noticed you did not put your star link in the store mode? I’m so glad I very rarely ever stay in an RV park.
We had a city campground in Wyoming that had so much water pressure that it blew up a brand new filter ! I was using the crapy regulators that dont actually regulate. Got an adjustable water pressure regulator with a guage after that. I hook it directly to the faucet so nothing else blows up.
Good video. Like that u hook your breakaway cable to the truck bed and not the hitch. U didn’t mention it but make sure the truck is pulled out of the way before u hit autolevel.
I started putting my pressure regulator right next to the spigot. I came outside one morning and the hose was dripping right at the fitting so I thought my hose was shot. Turns out the pressure was just really high. Wnen I moved the regulator to the spigot, no more hose leak.

I enjoy watching your videos. I use the Blu Tech system for filters. BUT I only use two stages. I use a cheap inline filter like you have at the spigot to get most of the debris out. Then I have the Blu Tech 2 stage filters for Taste and Germs. The only issue I have is I live up north and the water can be very cold. This causes condensation on the outside of the canisters that drips down into the bay. I'm going to try something like a "koozie" next year to see if it will slow down the condensation.
Hey, we enjoy your videos and your enthusiasm. As for your three stage water filter, I would suggest finding a plumbing supply store and purchasing the filter canisters there. I also purchase my filters from a local plumbing supply store and save quite a bit of money. The canisters cost me right around $20 a piece and for the three filters I am paying $42 the last time I bought them.
I understand no gloves, if you are out of them. Saved from a more thorough cleaning. Either way, not shaking hands till you have a chance to wash them. 😮
Hey, love your UA-cam channel, never miss a video. Got a sort of a quick question. Myself and my wife Debbie are going across Canada and down through the US for about 6 months next spring. We don’t have a you tube channel but we are going to take load of pictures and videos that will be only for us and family viewing. There will be some editing for ease of viewing, so basically very simple. The dilemma that we have is what do I use for a camera? We only have our iPhone 11 and XR but we feel we should have some sort of camera. I have been looking at action camera but not sure if that the way to go(insta 360, etc). You got any ideas?

We make sure the propane tank valve is closed before we leave just in case a hose gets damaged or bursts.

Not sure if this would help but I would put a small bingeing cord on the microwave door to the cabinet. Saves your doors from opening while traveling

You was complying about dirty shower doors. We squeegee them off after every shower, and they are always clean.

For your shower door use scrubbing bubbles.Spray on and scrub with a brush rinse and you will be amazed how clean it will stay.

I learned the hard way to always check my water hose washers and have extras on hand. I've also had to use teflon plumbing tape on worn spigots.
CLR for the shower doors. Then RainX. I had glass surrounds for the house. Those work perfectly together.

I use Pledge lemon furniture polish on my glass shower doors at my house and squeegee them off after every shower.
I made my own water filters from the household canister style. Used 2 of them mounted to a piece of tread plate. Angle aluminum for the feet. Install whatever micron filters you like. Easy, cheap and available.

Nice, I use a clear 90 at both ends of my sewer line. And a clear source, 3 stage filter on my water line. I also put my water pressure regulator after my water filters, so if the pressure in the waterline is higher, I get that pressure going through my water filters. X-chocks are really good for reducing any rocking when moving around inside the trailer.

Creekfire is one of our favorite campgrounds. They have a good resturant in the south end by the lake and we love the Lazy River. As for the checklist we do follow a written one on our phones and it has saved us money. On the surge protector should plug it in first check the power then plug in the trailer. We have found ground faults twice before. Someone should be outside when extending popouts. Anyone who has hit a faucet or power box new it was clear. You can blead water pressure off in the nautilus tank fill valve by turning it on and off. Our rig came with a built in filter but for drinking water we just use a "Pur" water pitcher, fast, easy and no extra gear.
Yes! We should have clarified that when we plugged the power cord in to check the power first, it wasn’t attached to our RV yet, we just keep the surge protector attached to the cord because they aren’t really fun to attach/unattach all the time.
And we really like the feature with the “One Control” app on the new RV, where we can extend slides from the app. That way one of us can stand outside and extend it to watch if there are any “items” around (after checking it’s clear inside first of course)
You guys need to get a real surge protector with ems from Hughes… also check out their auto formers they raise the power when the campground is low and save all your electronics like the ac units…

We always fill our water hose with water before hooking to RV. That way no air in lines. Haven't seen you show that yet.

Hi Victoria, for your plants in the bedroom, I put a small bungee cord across the opening. Cup hooks on the sides. Be sure to check the shore power before unhooking your rig in case the power is bad. Saves rehooking up if you have to.
Team clean hands! Nothing else really to add except my wife and I call the septic hose the “Stinky Slinky” and we think y’all should too haha. At least once haha.

I got the Blu Technology water filter and softener system earlier this year and it is absolutely awesome! It’s way smaller than the Clear Source one. I can fit everything in my basement area so its not out in the elements. Be well and safe travels! Please let us know your upcoming plans as well. I find that has been the hardest part for me is deciding where to go. I’ve been staying longer since I’m a solo traveler but trying to figure out where to “live” next is always a struggle for me. ok so i use a clear source water filter...works great...also I use a 4way splitter on the water supply so I can supply water to the rv and to the black tank...also different color hoses for city water and black tank...the other 2 are if i want to bring a water hose to the other side for whatever reason...I also use quick release connectors on all my water lines and a digital guage so when i clean the black tank i know how many gallons are goin in...
Check out Blu Technologies, they make a compact water filter setup down to 0.2 micron and all the canisters are stainless steel. They have supplied many UA-camrs with units to review so maybe hit them up. Many people with 5th wheels have room to install them inside so it’s still an easy one hose hookup. I just install their Trio 3 stage and their stainless steel compact water softener in my motorhome and it has been great, on our trip back East, you should have seen how bad the filters looked after only 2 months! Love your videos, you guys keep it fun.

Does Craig wear rubber gloves in the bathroom too? Ps, always test your sewer connection by turning the grey water on first for five seconds, that way if there is a leak/mistake, it's a grey mistake /leak, not a black one disaster! 😊

I use a standard 2 filter system, 2.5 x 10 inch carbon filters, 5 micron and a 1 micron filter, those blue filters are only rated at 20 micron, I prefer them over the specialty filters since the cartriges are standard size and easy to get, I also travel with as portable water softener also . The filter kit I purchased has a metel bracket that holds both filters as a single unit and had the 3/4 host attachments already on them as well as the softener system. I also have the 50 amp watchdog surge system that will shut down power to the RV is an issue is detected to protect it.
Hi guys!!! Another great video. We had a blast in Carlsbad. Spent a couple days in Deming at a full
hook up park so we could take long showers and do a good flush of our tanks. You are going to love this, I had to bring out my second hose for sewer . Being the first time I attached a second hose I forgot to remove the stoppers, and when I went to drain the tanks, they were not emptying out. I’m freaking out because I think that the pipes have frozen overnight and since we are new to this I don’t know what to do. Now I have this un sanitized liquid that has gone from the valve to the hose but it’s not going through the hose. I shut the valve but I still have this “liquid” sitting between the valve shut off and the beginning of the hose. Should I go on? What a mess. Thank God I had my gloves on. Always learning… out of all the videos that I have watched from the different RVers. I don’t think anyone has mentioned, don’t forget to take the stoppers off your sewer hose before you connect it. 😂😂😂

I’m curious as to why people hook up the sewer hose even for a single over night stay…why not wait until you are going to dump? It just seems to me to be a waste of time. Unless Hubs is ok with handling the stinky slinky I plan leaving it be unless we need it. It’ll be one less thing to trip over!
If I am at a full hookup site for only a couple of days, I will wait until the last day to attach the "stinky slinky", so I only have to deal with the exposure one time. I hook it up, dump, and put away at one time.
My checklist is so much simpler being that I am in a motorhome and flat towing a car.😊 I noticed you did not put your star link in the store mode? I’m so glad I very rarely ever stay in an RV park.
We had a city campground in Wyoming that had so much water pressure that it blew up a brand new filter ! I was using the crapy regulators that dont actually regulate. Got an adjustable water pressure regulator with a guage after that. I hook it directly to the faucet so nothing else blows up.

Good video. Like that u hook your breakaway cable to the truck bed and not the hitch. U didn’t mention it but make sure the truck is pulled out of the way before u hit autolevel.

I started putting my pressure regulator right next to the spigot. I came outside one morning and the hose was dripping right at the fitting so I thought my hose was shot. Turns out the pressure was just really high. Wnen I moved the regulator to the spigot, no more hose leak.

I enjoy watching your videos. I use the Blu Tech system for filters. BUT I only use two stages. I use a cheap inline filter like you have at the spigot to get most of the debris out. Then I have the Blu Tech 2 stage filters for Taste and Germs. The only issue I have is I live up north and the water can be very cold. This causes condensation on the outside of the canisters that drips down into the bay. I'm going to try something like a "koozie" next year to see if it will slow down the condensation.
Hey, we enjoy your videos and your enthusiasm. As for your three stage water filter, I would suggest finding a plumbing supply store and purchasing the filter canisters there. I also purchase my filters from a local plumbing supply store and save quite a bit of money. The canisters cost me right around $20 a piece and for the three filters I am paying $42 the last time I bought them.

Got a sort of a quick question. Myself and my wife Debbie are going across Canada and down through the US for about 6 months next spring. We don’t have a you tube channel but we are going to take load of pictures and videos that will be only for us and family viewing. There will be some editing for ease of viewing, so basically very simple. The dilemma that we have is what do I use for a camera? We only have our iPhone 11 and XR but we feel we should have some sort of camera. I have been looking at action camera but not sure if that the way to go(insta 360, etc). You got any ideas?
