  • The new Vongon Polyphrase delay is a thing of beauty, both inside and out. It has more tricks up its sleeve than the average delay pedal, so naturally I had to run my felt piano through it to see what it can do. Ah.... the smells of peak felt piano season...

    I really appreciate you showing a full-case use for the pedal in a way that inspires you. I feel it gives a whole lot more evidence about how it can fit into a workflow and larger body of music compared to more typical demonstrations, which are both practical and useful as well. I appreciate your work with this pedal!

    I like your exploration of this pedal. It sounds and looks incredible. Maybe one day I will buy it but not now 🤣 Also really cool track. I like how vongon catched sound of it's button in his buffer and used it.

      @@JamesonNathanJones I am still an idiot, but something I have learned about recording during last 10 years:
      It is really hard to get a nice recording out of something that in reality does not sound nice. For example, a lot of low quality upright pianos. I would assume that your piano sounds already really nice in reality as well!

    This pedal is pretty pricey, but I would probably pay the MSRP. My issue is I already see the scalpers on reverb, maxing out the cost for resale. I seen one person charging $600, and then added $10 more for shipping, like they weren't already selling a used product for $151 more than a new one. Darth Brooks" Rockin Space Rodeo on Reverb is the account that I'm talking about specifically. When I see accounts like that, it makes me not want to buy anything from them.Considering that this is a new pedal, it makes me believe that they bought it, just to make a profit off of it. I've been seeing this with Generation Loss MK2. It's a predatory tactic in my opinion. It's a shining example to show that some people aren't in the gear market for the culture of making music. It's the same thing that happens with limited sneaker drops. The messed up part, is I feel like certain companies are supporting resellers more than customers. It's like they want hype to build, so they can keep their prices high, so they can build less, and still make a huge profit. I kind of feel like Chase Bliss does this with their pedals. I would probably own quite a few Chase Bliss pedals, if they didn't make a limited supply, and then leave it up to the resellers after they make their money. I get that some of these companies are small, so they need time to build their products, and that plays a part, but it would be nice to see them do something that didn't let resellers control the market price. I plan on ordering a Generation Loss MK2, but it could take up to March before it gets shipped. $400+ tax, is a lot to pay, and wait that long. I feel like I need to just bite the bullet, and order one, before the resellers charge over $1k for a pedal that's worth $400.

    • @JamesonNathanJones
      @JamesonNathanJones  Рік тому

      I absolutely agree. It’s a ridiculous practice and I hope no one actually buys from those scalpers. To your point though, a lot of these boutique companies are literally just a handful of people at most, and I think it’s just impossible to keep up with demand without a mass production chain - at which point the handcrafted feel of these pedals naturally would be sacrificed. It’s a frustrating reality.

    Kinda wish it had an option to re-pitch the delays in semi tones once it was in the buffer. At least down and up an octave.

    • @JamesonNathanJones
      @JamesonNathanJones  Рік тому

    This is on par with meet maude delay which i consider the best delay out there. But meet maude is not a 22 second looper

    • @JamesonNathanJones
      @JamesonNathanJones  Рік тому +1

      I love the Meet Maude! It definitely has a character all its own and you can feel the analog grit in it, but yeah the looping is really nice for creative inspiration and sound design. And it’s stereo which is nice if you’re a synth head 😏

    I kind of feel like Empress Echosystem is just as good, and they cost less used.They don't have the vintage vibe, with the wood sides, and they don't have the face inputs and outputs, but the sound is very similar. I still like this pedal, and I wouldn't mind having one. I just wanted to offer an alternative, if someone can't afford this right now. I recommend checking out the empress delays, even if you get this. They're not exactly the same, but they're similar.
