Thank you so much Dani! 2 years ago I couldn't walk and could never get a straight diagnosis. I've been to more doctors and pt sessions than I care to count. Yoga has helped the most, but a straddle intense class yesterday brought me to your video. Thank you for the insight on my road to recovery. 🙏
@@homersimpson5501 I can and have since been diagnosed with RA. My issues are likely connected to newly discovered disc herniations and connective tissue ailments. Good luck on your journey.
I’ve been wondering why I seemed to be unable to do a wide legged seated forward fold for ages, Thank you for this fantastic video and your thorough explanations. I can’t explain how much this has helped me
Beautiful presentation, I think this is the reason my hips hurt as well as my back after doing middle split stretching from not having the proper tilt on the pelvis resulting in the bone on bone pain and tenderness. I think I know where to go from here, thanks for the information 👏
You explained it so well that i was even optimistic, but evet with that posture, it still hurts on the wrong side.. it hurt at the hips and to at streching mouscles. And i am practicing that for months every single day multiple times a day, trying to find what would work, but nothing does and i feel so sad.
@daniwinksflexibility do you have any idea what might be causing a painful snapping sensation in the hip when in a compressed straddle or when lifting the leg externally? I feel it even if the hip is externally rotated like how you show in the video. Muscle tightness doesn’t seem to be the limiting factor
Because this problem i didnt get split since two years if training....i do some high kick also but in poor form...i cannot chamber knee high for roundhousr kicak...my knee gi lower ...so im iblige push butt out back and kick but it ugly to see
When I straddle and try to go wider, I get a weird sensation/pinching almost in my outer top thigh and can’t go any further. Do you know what the cause of this could be and any exercises that could help? It’s really stopping me from getting my splits 😢
Assuming I'm sitting in the proper straddle position with toes pointed up towards the ceiling, if the top of my thigh is 12 o'clock and the posterior is 3 o'clock, I feel pain from the 12 - 3 o'clock of the hip. I feel no stretch on my inner thighs, no "stretch" feeling anywhere. (Not sure if it makes a difference, but I do have my front splits.) Any advice you could offer would be appreciated!
This is a really underrated presentation as most of my training is hyperfocus on muscle function, so this made some things make sense. What she didn't mention is the level of strength and mind-muscle connection needed to get in and out of those positions and how lack of strength in the end ranges of flexibility basically the same as dangerous instability. I had similar issues and it turns out that I'm really flexible but lack strength in the end ranges of the flexibility. It took a few months of laying off the stretching and DEMANDING that my hips lift my leg (and flexing my core, "lift your leg with your stomach" was the coaches cue) into those supposedly flexible position. My legs feel way lighter now so I can hold a roundhouse kicking position in the air now without much effort, where last year, that was impossible to do for even a three count. Hope you find that helpful. Good luck!
Hello, Please Help!! I have been trying to stretch and practicing middle split for about a year now. I still cannot past 90 degree. I do tilt my hip forward (bend my body forward and resting my arms on large exercise ball), it seems my outer hip is stuck. I stretch out my hamstring, butterfly, frog sit, side lunge, pigeon pose and squat. There is no sharp pain but feels like my hip socket (about 45 degree behind from the side of my hip) has this dull pain from tendon or something. I have also tried PNF and it seems to have slight improvement. I sit in cubicle all day...i do try to stand up and stretch my hamstring. When i sit on chair, I try to open my leg (up to 90 degree). Any suggestions? Thank you
Look up exercises for hip internal rotation. Lack of internal rotation can cause a stuck or blocked feeling in the hip or socket. Tilting the pelvis won't work unless you fix this because the muscles are so tight they'll just pull your leg and pelvis as one instead of them being independent. You will actually be hitting bone on bone if you don't fix this and you won't go any further. Also get a table and put one leg out to the side onto it and see if you can with both legs. This will rule out any coxa vara.
Finally, I think you might be the one to provide the solution to my issue with high round house kicks etc, found your post on reddit, thank you!
god damn it, somebody give this Dani girl a medal! this is the video I needed, thank you so freaking much!!!!
Glad to hear it helped!
This video really just changed the way I view this type of stretch. Thank you!

I had to sit on 2 yoga blocks lol. Really feel the difference though. Thx

If I have a shorter range of motion in my right hip, is there a way I can give it more range while in the (yoga) pigeon pose?

I got bone to bone situation and i train since long years but still havent middle split neither front split what to do ....?
I have inner hip pain when doing the straddle for some reason..
Straddles stretch our inner thighs - so my guess is what you're feeling is the stretching sensation, but pushing it a bit too far.
Respectfully, you're mighty fine. Also thanks, I'll be doing headkicks in no time 😂
How can I unlock the rib cage muscle the funny 😄 bone 🦴 muscle if you lol it gets stuck 🤡 if I hear one good joke I may die lol 🎃
