Never before Bloomburrow have i experienced so much variance and was so frustrated with MTGA (especially limited), i wonder if they somehow changed the shuffler in the past months
It is not just pure variance. They have already admitted to "hand smoothing" land draw algorithm and match making power level checks shenanigans. In draft (and non-ranked Play) almost always you'll get a mirror match first game or two with very similar cards to yours or being matched against a deck that's good against you. Other patterns are also apparent to anyone playing Arena - like that the likelihood of getting cards you already have on hand is higher (i.e. you'd draw 3 copies of most cards you have on hand but don't really see other cards that much). Top decking right removal (even for indestructible creatures, etc.) happens super often. Games on Arena feel orchestrated!
I saw Nummy's hand full of lands for the 4th match and I couldnt stop myself but burst out laughing. It hurts so bad i dont even know what is the suitable reaction for it is.
I felt the pain in this one. Got mana-flooded in 3/3 of my BO3 Arena Day 1 Sealed match (with 16 lands). Few days earlier, I had the most insane flood I’ve ever seen, drawing 15/16 lands in the top 25 cards of my library, including 9 straight to finish the game. I respect Nummy’s ability to shrug off bad RNG, but sometimes it’s too much.
I have the feeling since bloomburrow the shuffler is way worse... manascrewd every 3-4 games =instaloss. If lost 3 drafts 0-3 to 2-3 b3cause of it (out of 6 drafts). Look at the numbers of lands played by monored decls in ladder. They are gone up from 17-18 lands prepatch to 20-22 with the same or even lower curve... something is off.
I've been saying this for awhile, Arena draft is nothing like paper, there are so many things that I hate about it. The fact you're drafting with people who you're not playing against is insane, I watched a match where this guys opponent had 2 rottenmouth vipers, and like 2 or 3 other mythics in Golgari.
A lot of times, late at night, a draft pod worth of people will get on together on discord and screen share with each other while they draft, they will hit the join button all at the same time and try to get in on the same draft. Then they will play at earlier times to not only avoid playing each other but their Uber deck will have essentially nothing blocking them.

First of all, just wanted to say I really feel your pain here. That flood has happened to me countless times and I wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemy. Mad respect for keeping together despite all of these tilters. One of your Match 1 Game 2 plays were confusing to me. When you played Greenshell, would it not be better to play the land first? Then you could not only Surveil with Glarb (to set up a land on the top), but then also flicker Glarb to basically Draw 2. I could definitely be wrong here for sure, but it seemed like you'd get more value this way.
also seemed strange in that game when he played the clifftop lookout. Knowing there was a land on top there was a choice to let the greenshell trigger first and it would have put that land in, then another land from the lookout, that would have been 10 land to turn on the +2/+2. Game 1 of that match was also a really sketchy keep on the first hand, swamp+green village couldn't play any of the 5 other cards in hand.
I only started playing draft on Arena, I truly pray that these mana floods and screws are not the norm. Otherwise it will be an extremely short lived affair
its not, especially not in BO1 , but still it happens sometimes. in BO1 the game will decide the more balanced hand out of 2 starting hands, in Bo3 that is not the case. @@joerogers4860 source?
@@reidyo5404 Do you always insert your own words for other people? I suspect you actually do based on the tone of your comment. On another note Mr Law : An investigation into the code would easily reveal the manipulation that "They (Hasbro) Themselves" admit to using. The real problem is people like you, and how these game companies can manipulate everyone to go unseen to the rest of the world because it's just a game after all...
@@reidyo5404 I mean, one thing is when people complain about the shuffler being rigged *as a joke*. When they actually start believing it for real, that's concerning. It's just a few steps removed from believing in the fake moon landing and the chemtrails. And just as easily disproved.
Craazzyy mana flood. So sucky mate
are we still defending the scam arena app? 🤣
Precisamente por eso deje de jugar... esta podrido la forma en como baraja el mazo... una mierda.
the reason I stopped plaything this dogshit game. They could have addressed the damn screw/flood connundrum for so many years now, instead they keep pumping trash formats where just curving out on the play is the only strategy. Eff it, I have better things to do with my time.
Hot take: maybe the shuffler should just shuffle like 7 times and that’s it. Not change the order of the shuffle based on elo and such.
source?
@@finnTekkenthe source for his take on the matter?
@@finnTekken the shuffler has hand smoothing which is supposed to ensure you get lands in your opening hand I believe. It has also been said that if you have too high of a win percentage, the game changes the draws in your opponent’s favor. The second one could just be a hypothesis. But the shuffler definitely doesn’t just do a series of shuffles and move on
@@JohnSmith-ul2ce the shuffler has hand smoothing in best of 1 . And i dont even know if that has been officially confirmed, but it seems obvious, you never(?) get 7 lands , 7 spells in best of 1. this wasnt best of 1 tho, secondly, you second statement, i simply would like a source, an official statement from wizards/arena that this is the case, thats all. But you already said its hypothetical . I am just saying apart from best of 1 picking between two hands to give you the more balanced hand, we have absolutely no proof for anything else. And my theory is people just play many more games online back to back then they would be able to in paper and you simply see those screws, floods, more often and remember them selectively. Thats my theory. And i strongly believe that, based on the simply fact, that IF YOU COULD prove something like that and it isn’t in the TOS / EuLA of the game, you could sue this company + hasbro into oblivion. And we had bugs and exploits and even hacks(?) of arens, so if anything like that is going on, someone would have been able to prove thatbin 5 years.
Lol, mythic player eh?
4th!!
ayy first
naw your deck was garabage
Once again Arena knows excactly when and he needs to ''lose''. Im currently making a list of all the ways arena makes sure people lose its one big sceme.
Source? and what about the countless times he got in the money or went 7:0 . thats just ... luck i guess, am i right ? BUT, i am always happy to be informed, source?
@@finnTekken You know the source, it's always the same source, their cousin. It's a very reliable source.
@@finnTekken If you want to know the crap Wizards pulls with their shuffler and match maker, go to Desolator Magic, he's got videos explaining it.
Source? Just look at the countless complaints on either their website or anywhere else. I gotta hand it to wotc for making arena so incredible believeable. Playing 17 lands and flooding out or drawing only 1 type when u run 8/8. True its a game of variance but its not an excuse
And another thing play the same Match 50 time in paper and on arena and see the difference.
Dude, them tilting land flood games. 🥲 Happens to me all the freaking time. 🫠
