      Hope they give you a kick back. So it’s both a reef and sand anchor? Think I’ll be getting one

    Great tips. Sure can be a pain some days. Of late anchoring and burleying has been my pain , where burley drifts towards the bow.

    • @Saltfix
      @Saltfix  3 місяці тому

      Ahhh the old wind vs current, not much you can do , if its relatively calm ill pull the rope around to the side of the boat and tie off to the back of the bow rail, this makes the boat sit side on and you can at least fish out of one side.
      BUT. this makes the boat sit side on to the chop or potentially swell and is not safe in a small boat or rough conditions,il just use a simple loop knot so i can get it off fast if need be.

    Attach your anchor chain to the bottom end, then use zip ties up the shaft to the normal attachment point end. This way when your anchor gets snagged the zip ties will brake and your anchor pulls out backwards. If you are worried about plastic zip ties you could use a 20kg braking strain rope and tie it to the shaft.
    You do not need a fancy anchor with a sheer pin although is ok and works just fine.

      ive tried cable ties and light gauge wire in the past, works to a degree but no where near as good or easy as the Boomer.

    Good video. I painted my rope every ten meters so i know when i have let out double or triple the depth im in. Helps a lot. I think a lot of people also use absolutely shit anchors. Plough, CQR, Moloolaba picks, Bruce, they are absolute crap.While Boomer are awesome, not everyone can afford a $500 anchor. Get yourself a Sarca, or even a normal dan fourth/sand anchor, and usually you want the chain the same length or a meter longer than your boat. a Sarca #1 is a great anchor even for boats up to 6 meters.

    • @Saltfix
      @Saltfix  3 місяці тому +1

      Painting the rope is a good idea. also lets you know when the chain is coming up.
      Ive got a big Sarca plough but feel in the reef i regularly drop on it wouldnt last very long before i lost it. always carry it up the front with spare rope just in case but im a Boomer convert now, total faith in its holding ability and know I will always get it back.

      @@Saltfix Yeah, I lost 4 anchors in 2 years (1 of them my own fault), switched to a Boomer, paying for it was painful but I use the 5mm pin and every time I pull it up and the pin's broken I tell myself I just saved 100 odd bucks from not losing a cheaper anchor and chain, rope etc lol

    • @Saltfix
      @Saltfix  3 місяці тому +1
