Sadly when they cycle low they hate themselves and think the world would be better off without them. They live at least a decade less than their friends. They make Sui@!de attempts and are Very successful at that. They hate the prescriptions. Off their meds their brain lies to them about what is a good idea, sometimes it is the Bad Idea Fairy. The only worse Diagnosis is Schizophrenia. There is no cure. There isn't even funding to try and research to find a cure. It is a horrendous illness. Tragically it is often the brilliant or talented whose brain developed the BiPolar pathway which is Physically different from ordinary people. It is not created by partying. It is not that they had a traumatic childhood or suffered some ghastly Event. They are simply built different. There may be a recessive dna piece that pops up ... but they haven't identified it for sure. Even if Dr's could run DNA to confirm you have it or will, they can not stop it any more than you can make someone taller or a different Race or have Blue eyes. It just is what it is. I'd give my life gladly if I could save my only child. All I can do is Love him. I am so grateful we talk openly about Mental Health, you can go to Counseling just like you would go to the ER if you broke a leg. There is no shame any more and very little stigma left, so as a Society we are evolving and being more patient and kind to others. That is a wonderful thing.
