They kept mentioning how this was made by "The visionary behind Toy Story" and whatever, but didn't have the guts to say his name. In addition, the film's just bad.
Woah that was fast! I think the big thing that makes me love this movie is that it has so much more of what I miss from modern Disney movies. Comparing this to Wish, which the movie definitely takes a few jabs at, and you can FEEL what was really lacking in Wish. It's not a perfect movie, but for a studio that doesn't have a while lot of experience in making this type of film, I feel like it was an excellent attempt. I loved the worldbuilding and I really loved the theme. I thought the wizard couple were pretty funny... (also there were more animals than you mentioned!! The frog, okapii things, etc). Some things I would love to see from movies from this studio in the future would be more moments of calm and absorption. I would have loved if the forest scene was a bit longer and a bit more atmospheric for example. But all in all I thought it was a remarkable showing that Disney should be worried about. This movie proved that it isn't all together impossible to make a Disney classic... and I think that if this film gets enough buzz and support, the likelihood that they will hit a home run gets higher and higher. It took Disney decades to get to Little Mermaid... and having Alen Menkin writing the music is a real game changer. I digress... I liked it. Thought it was charming, and I hope beyond hope that they continue trying down this path.... because it is SO CLOSE to the magic I remember growing up
I liked the creature designs, but the movie itself was... kinda crap. I also really hated the songs. They were so badly written. Even Wish's music was better. And Wish was dreadful.
L take. These songs SMOKE Wish. Her I want song gave me goosebumps. The orchesteral arrangements alone are next level compared to Wish's shoddy pop music. Tell me what Asha even wants in that movie? lol Dislike the movie all you want, but the songs are very good imo.
I think my main problem with the movie was the untapped potential. It could have been better if they took the story just a little more seriously. Also, the songs in wish are still worse.
eh i think the way it was before was alright it sounds good if its with another character like i saw an animatic from this underrated channel of a indie animation called salmon and the big bad wolf it was good havent watched this new movie idk if i will it just.. looks boring and a boring style. but i do love those lynx with wings creatures and nothing is worse than wish in my opinion
I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either. I did like that the movie brought up divorce, and it didn't end with the parents getting back together. But it felt too rushed, and there were a bunch of plotholes.
I think it would have worked better if saw they're situation before the curse, so the divorce thing didn't come out of left field. Also maybe not wait an entire year to resolve the situation.
I think the flying leopards were a bit overused and underused at the same time, the mc's flying leopard could've easily become a companion during the journey, however, they barely used it. Meanwhile I feel like the species overall was a bit overused in the sense that we see the creatures 3 times in different environments, the "domesticated ones", the ones in the desert and the ones in the mountains. I think it would be great if they got new creatures at least for the desert section specially because... Well, the cub was stuck on a rock floating on a sea of sand and its FLYING parents couldn't do nothing other than flying around it? It would make a lot more sense if it was some kind of terrestrial creature that really couldn't escapte the sea of sand... It just felt like we could've gotten other interesting creatures but they were lazy and decided to re-use one of them 3 times
Kinda feel like the monster designs looked really good, even compared to Disney ones, and the overall "magic world" just felt more inviting and creative than anything Disney put out in recent years. It wasn't half bad as a movie, and if it was in fact made by Pixar, it would fit comfortably among the "good and loveable but not groundbreaking" ones, like Luca and Onward. I feel like just because it has Lasseter's name attached, we really shouldn't bury all these movies instantly. Hate him or not, he's really just one guy, and his prescence shouldn't undermine the work of all the other talented artists, who probably took up like 99% of production anyways.
Honestly, I enjoyed the movie way more than I thought I would. It's deeper than it seems, and it's basically a metaphor for something rather dark and realistic. The ending is especially mature and well-handled, and once the big twist is revealed, it puts everything else in a completely different and VERY emotional new light.
I haven’t watched the movie, but the songs are pretty decent. I cried a lot while listening to The Way it Was Before and What About Me, but that could be just because I’m a big softie
I almost fell asleep during this film and couldn't even finish it. It had some creative fantasy ideas about the world, the magic, and the creatures and a very interesting premise, but it was all very poorly and boringly executed.
I'm hoping Skydance Animation is still finding its feet and we'll eventually get back to the quality creative direction Lassiter brought to classic Pixar... but I'm not all that confident about that. This may just be the caliber we'll be getting from the studio, which could be worse but would be a far cry from a spiritual rebirth of classic Pixar.
I actually quite enjoyed the movie. The running gag with the old lady was great, love her! I thought the premise was pretty cool, loved the world building and my favorite character is the pigeon guy lol
Pretty curious about this movie. Considering whether or not I should watch it. Its not a sequel, or a live-action remake, so I guess it's got that going for it?
The songs sucked honestly, though two of them I enjoyed. The writing for this movie was so....not that enjoyable, HOWEVER, I did enjoy that chase scene leading into the 2nd act and the 3rd act reveal. The divorce message really hit me, and Elian's pain and frustration hit home and was the most interesting part of the film.
This was one of the few films I saw during a test screening. I'm glad it's finally out for others to enjoy. It was wild seeing the animation in an unpolished state. I too agree that the places and world building was solid.
media ah a place that falls more and more every movie well i see one hope and thats a pizza tower movie whit noise being some kind of joker doing noise stuff
The one thing outside of John Lasseter’s involvement that bothers me is how this studio’s animation lacks detail. This and Luck look too flat and generic, which if they want to be another Pixar, they clearly don’t have the budget for Pixar quality animation.
I think the thing missing is an actual sense of identity in the world building. This downtown LA-diverse-looking realm/country doesn't really have a cultural footprint. It's a bunch of ethnic ideas thrown together without rhyme or reason. Much like Wish's Rosas (which at least has the excuse of being sort of a land of refugees), we see cultural references from all over the world, yet these aren't supposed to be human beings (see the ears). If the creators had taken a minute to actually give this realm it's own flavor, the impact would have been different. The only actual different thing here beyond the flying felines are those square (rectangular?) skirts. I've never seen that before. And I don't know how I feel about the Oracles either, they read like gay uncles in the most cliched way without calling them that to avoid censorship we know where. Funny enough, I watched it with Chinese audio and Spanish subtitles (I'm quirky like that) and it feel completely at ease with a lot of Asian animation, so that helped a lot. I think I'd have enjoyed less if I was listening to it in English.
They kept mentioning how this was made by "The visionary behind Toy Story" and whatever, but didn't have the guts to say his name. In addition, the film's just bad.
That trailer constantly reminding us that John Lasseter made several Pixar movies is one of the biggest "ego-strokes" ever (to put it lightly)
Probably because people wouldn't watch it otherwise.
Not exactly Coppola stroking here, but still riding off the past
Woah that was fast!

This movie is the equivelant of making a fart joke and then going "Your mother and I are getting a divorce"
John Lassiter is a good animator, but when it comes to writing a story, he needs other people to work on it.
Agree
The more you think about it , the more it's basically just Pixar's Brave
The main character looks the same as the luck one 😭
You don’t say😭💀
@@alejandrovelez6358 still better than the new Disney movies
Despite the movie being a total flop, I kinda like the character designs, the dress, and the magic and wants to know what culture it’s based on
I think the flying leopards were a bit overused and underused at the same time, the mc's flying leopard could've easily become a companion during the journey, however, they barely used it. They are gryphons not leopards
The queen or female monster is really cute

I hope SkyDance Animation’s Jack and the Beanstalk movie is good since Disney cancelled it.
Honestly not the worst animated musical I’ve seen recently, mostly just felt a little “off”
Honestly I'm getting "Strange Magic" vibes from the art of the movie.
I haven’t watched the movie, but the songs are pretty decent. I cried a lot while listening to The Way it Was Before and What About Me, but that could be just because I’m a big softie
I think the "Flying cat monster" are based on griffins.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone...
I almost fell asleep during this film and couldn't even finish it. It had some creative fantasy ideas about the world, the magic, and the creatures and a very interesting premise, but it was all very poorly and boringly executed.
Funny, cause I heard that Moana 2 is just a early 2000s disney chepquel, but on the big screen.
I'm hoping Skydance Animation is still finding its feet and we'll eventually get back to the quality creative direction Lassiter brought to classic Pixar... but I'm not all that confident about that. I liked it. Once you get towards the end, there's a big reveal that puts everything in a new light, and it's quite emotional
Give it a go..ya may love it
Sooo the plot of Brave??
John just can't seem to let go of his past with Disney, can he?
OF COURSE. They just HAD TO add the cute little critter that ends up having a DEEP MANLY VOICE 💀
Gotta hand to him, he sure took big risks with such balls!
I can't believeversioncypu fail to mention that Alan Menken was involved with the music!
My question is, why does this fantasy world look so empty?
The story reminds me a bit of brave with the parents turning into monsters and needing to break the curse!!!
I'm starting to think most people would hate on anything new and recent with John's name attached to it.
I avoided watching this movie because the main character is voiced by the very same brat that insulted Snow White.
1:37 I think they specifically said it was a year.
I like brave better
Disney hasnt good media for over ten years now bro..this is 1000x better than ANY recent disney movie
I like the movie and the animals. ❤😊
i got a ad for it while watching this video
Made it halfway through till now. But only with skipping all the songs...🙄
i just noticed that you used tears of the kingdom falling in to the deths melody
Skydance’ character design feel likes Disney, and not in a good way
Happy holidays
Not even gonna try to watch it

Basically Wish but less awful.
...not really a Compliment for this Movie.

Ahh,with Zelgar it will definitely popular. Better or worse.

Hello
Never been this early
Spellbound you say... That's a BR game with magic😅
