dope interview, much appreciation and respect to the Prince Ken Swift! 06:19 seriously, I'd love to cypher battle such bboys like that guy, I understand and like those ideas, concepts, flow and transitions, would be happy to exchange and extract the most value out of the battle
thank you tankteknyc for showing us the wisdom of ken swift. i recently got to have a cool discussion on dancing and bboying at an IHOP haha over some overpriced but delicious breakfast food haha. actually i had the CHEESesteak, cuz thats me being me, the philly in me haha. but for real, I really really appreciate what kenny said about bboying is about being urself one, and also its grounded in the music primarily. i feel like a lot of 'bboys" criticise other bboys self expression
Great video - and thoughts from Ken Swift. Esp. that b-boying is evolutionary. It's shifted continents (US 80s, Europe in the 90s, Asia in the 00s) and grown stronger on that journey.
Truth! I recently went to a jam to dance and cypher, but it was a really small venue. I had to wait until the breaks between the battle, but during those breaks the DJ kept putting on drums & bass and other bullshit which immediately demotivated me from having a good time. Ended up going home with a headache.. Basically what started with me wanting to get into the cyphers ended up with me not feeling the music at all and just watch the jam, just like what Ken Swift is saying. Some DJ's..
I love that...so true I hate seeing people re do peoples moves at least twist and make your own!!!! No one can do you they have tried but they just are missing that Prince Ken Swift Sh#t ;-)
@teknyc1 Thanks bro..my bboy name is just tank..teknyc is a childhood nickname I had long b4 I was breakin..no thievery here..lol..I just needed a youtube account so I put the two 2gether..btw, u and the rest of skillmethodz are some of the dopest bboys in the world I think..thanks for the endless inspiration and thanks for checkin out my vid.
i can see sadness in his eyes when he mentioned that bboying these days is about athletic abilities and some people consider it a sport......they say ones you'r a bboy you always a bboy ..thaey meant the dance ...let's see who is going to do flips when he becomes 50
Thanks so much for sharing. Great questions and very insightful answers from a true Legend of This Game.
