Hi y’all! Reminder that comments that allude to future outcomes are MAJOR SPOILERS! Really bummed to see so much backseating and spoilers in the comment section of this one… just a reminder to please not do this! Don’t you want to see my genuine reaction when I realize consequence vs tipping me off several episodes in advance??
I just finished Mass Effect LE for the first time. 97 hours for all games and dlc's. Before I saw your videos I had heard about it, but never saw or played it. But now it's my favorite game of all time. Thanks to you, basics community and basicwitgirl, I bought it on steam and really enjoyed the game. I will definitely play this wonderful game again and of course I look forward to watch every next episod of your playthrough. Sorry for any mistakes, Google translator) ps. I understand English by ear, thats why i watch you:) but I have problems with grammar and sentence construction
I played the games as they were released back in the day, it was pretty hype. So glad they made the LE edition, this series deserves it, I’ve probably got close to or over 1,000 hours total from back then to now lol great game series
@@justaguyfromeurope this wasn’t streamed, it was recorded offline just me and the game. Attention span isn’t the issue with this prompt and I’d reckon most people don’t even see it their first playthrough. Expecting people to hit a QTE they didn’t know was a QTE the first time they hear this interaction is unrealistic. Esp if the player is reading subtitles like I usually am. 🙃
Bear in mind that you're both (presumably) very familiar with this game and know when QTE events are going to pop up. Not everybody is going to see everything on their first playthrough and while I appreciate it can be frustrating when something is missed, that's nothing compared to the frustration these creators must feel when they're not permitted to discover those consequences themselves. We're here for authentic first reaction, not perfection.
There are some renegade options you just have to take. Punching Gerrel is one of them. He makes me so mad in ME3. Sure, just casually fire on a ship with one of your Admirals and the two human Spectres on board. 😠 And yay, you went back for the Kaidan dialogue! Totally worth it 😊 On the old Bioware forums there was actually a post detailing which squadmates to third wheel on missions for maximum Kaidan banter. I've long since lost the post, but I still remember a few of the answers. Which I shall not say due to spoilers. Shout out once again to all the lovely people in the live chat today. I wish my lunch breaks were longer so I could stick around more
Someone shared the post in our discord!! I haven’t looked bc spoilers, but I’m excited to go back and see how many of them we just get organically 😂 that comment about biotic floating was absolutely worth replaying the mission!
WHAAAT!! I've been playing this series since it's original release on repeat, and I somehow never got that line of dialogue of Kaidan floating off the railing! Not even once!!! I noticed you missed the tripping dialogue last time, so I assumed that's what you were talking about but when the clip kept going, I was shocked! More than a decade later and countless replays, still learning something new. I LIVE for the Kaidan dialogue, so this just made my day!
It was such a cute line!! I had to replay the mission with different companions trying to figure out speaker priority, but I’m so glad I did!! Loved the little banter🥰
@@basicwitgirl That was probably my problem! I always take Liara there. I'll have to remember that for next time. The Kaidan + third wheel party is so real by the way, lol! That's literally the only way to play for me.
I love bringing Kaidan on this mission! His nerdy dialogue with Tali is so cute! On top of that, I love all the subtext with him asking if Shepard is okay. Remember he was there for the first Normandy's destruction, so he was probably worried Shep had some trauma flashbacks walking through that broken area.
36:05 RIGHT? I love her voice. Like gravel and butter, in the best way possible. "Who taught you how to walk in pumps?" "I didn't always work in space."
One thing I really love about this game and have not seen since is the way the background conversations all become significant in some way. Some bigger, as mini-missions, some smaller as „just“ interesting tidbits about the war and some later connecting to other situations and conversations with other NPCs or even your Crew. I still remember when it first clicked for me, with some of these. It was such a cool feeling to go: „Wait a minute. Didn’t someone talk about X on Y back then?“ The devs and writers did such amazing work with these! Only thing I don’t like is that some don’t seem to be tracked correctly and will play again and again, robbing them of their poignancy a bit.
In all my playthroughs i have never seen Shep wake up in an elevator after another go at the bar. I always stop after she ends up on Aria's couch. Basic once again bringing the bonus content!
Haha I always loved running through the hospital, finding the like 3 empty rooms and 3 large rooms with like 2 people doing research in them. Meanwhile theirs like 24 critically injured patients laying on the hard floor 😂
This priority mission was very challenging because of the outcome of it. I look forward to see how you deal with all the decisions good luck. Great playthrough as always!
I’ve been playing Mass Effect since the very beginning. I’ve got all the achievements/trophies on the 360, the ps3 and on ME:LE. I’ve beat the game as every class, as fem/bro Shep, romanced every possible character and at the very least logged 1000hrs in the game across all its form. And I have to say that Mass Effect is easily one of the greatest pieces of sci-fi ever written and I always love it when other people get suckered into the game.
Right there with you, the original ME1 was one of the first games I ever played! ! I own almost 400 games now but still replayed the heck out of ME and now MELE trying different things. No other game calls to me like this one.
The conversation in the Airlock between Tali and Garrus, when you take them to the Geth-Dreadnaught, is absolutely hilarious. 😂 It involves chocolate. 😉🤣
A Fun Fact about the talk with Samara on the Citadel: If your Shepard follows the Renegade Path and made questionable decisions, then Samara reminds the player of her oath she made to Shepard in Mass Effect 2. That if she is forced to do anything that violates the Code, she is forced to take out Shepard. My Renegon FemShep managed to get that talk with her. And of course, I chose the Paragon Response, since I did wanted to show remorse for some of the past actions I commited.
i fell asleep while watching the premiere cuz i'm ~sick~ but dang i'm gonna have to teach some people in chat about not back seating and not spoiling cuz OMG
Things are getting crazy but as long we get to come home to Kaidan on the Normandy that’s all that matters 😊 Another great episode thank you Basic and Taylor!
I love how much you love Samara and your comment about hoping she sees your Shepard as a surrogate daughter made me tear up a bit. You are so good basic. 💜
The "singing the Russian national anthem" is a reference to The Hunt for the Red October, where they also had a stealth submarine that should be undetectable but the crew started singing the State Anthem of the USSR and a sonar operator barely heard them.
Don't worry too much about 'killing' Geth - the bodies are just hardware for them, and when you destroy them, the software (the actual Geth) just return to a nearby server. You're not actually killing them. Also, as synthetics, Sabotage lets you hack them so they fight for you temporarily, the same way it works with Cereberus turrets.
I wonder -- I didn't see you do this on camera in your ME2 playthrough, but did you ever go back after the suicide mission and have more conversations with Legion, where he talks about the Geth origins, "The Creators", and Rannoch? He has a lot of incredible dialogue that really make both him and the Geth even better. If you haven't, I'd suggest loading up your old ME2 endgame save and having a chat with ole' Legion.
epic, Thanks a lot and lol @ 16:40 🤣 ... yep imo it's a fact, a Shepard who doesn't wake up totally drunk in the elevator at least once isn't a real Shepard .. Cheers from germany ✨🙂
45:35 Its a reference to the novel/movie The Hunt for Red October. The Russians were in a stealth submarine and so confident they were hidden, they sang the Soviet Anthem, but were conveniently overheard by the USS Dallas submarine nearby.
The VA that plays Admiral Raan is a lovely woman named Shohreh Aghdashloo. I love her as well, she has such a unique voice and she also plays one of my favorite characters on the Amazon TV show The Expanse! (It's a space opera like Mass Effect, I highly recommend it) Edit: Oh my gosh Basic has seen The Expanse AHHHHHH I'M SCREAMING!!! I'm leaving this up for people who read this comment and don't know her
Please continue that conversation with the asari in the hospital who talks about that “freckled farm girl”. It’s hard to piece together but make sure to talk to everybody and the story blows your mind.
Oops forgot to comment after the Premier! Kaidan and Tali on this mission is definitely the best pair. I usually bring GarBear so lots of new dialogue for me this episode! Punching Admiral Han'Gerrel is a must do after he tried to kill you all on the Dreadnought. I think they should have let Shep give him the gut punch followed by an upper cut to put him out on the floor. Out the airlock with him!
@basicwitgirl if it makes you feel any better, remember the guest transfer their programs from one platform to the other when you destroy the platform.
I think she just killed Konesh lol, she was supposed to warn Admiral Raan about the distress call but she didn’t notice. I’ve never not done that, so I don’t know what happens if you ignore it. Probably just don’t receive military strength, or receive less from the quarians.
Drive Me Crazy word of the day: Reload. How long was it in the middle of the screen until she finally reloaded?? Definitely since before the conversation with legion and until the geth reinforcements dropped In. 😅
Commenting as I watch, so forgive me the „spam“. Again, let me salute your sniper skills. One thing though, generally taking cover beats taking every rocket and bullet to the face. 😉
I want to romance samara so bad but it’s almost impossible to cuz of that stupid code. I’m on a pure paragon playthrough and I still somehow can’t do it.
16:30 (Binging at the bar) - TY for that. Hadn't seen that after several playthroughs. In exchange, if you ever replay ME2, may I recommend grabbing a drink at the lower level Afterlife bar sometime. I don't think that ever came up in your run.
