1978, second year of college, working part time at a gas station, I had to sell a 57 rag top that I had built from frame rails up because it deteriorated faster over the week than I could fix up over the weekend. Sometimes you just gotta let somebody else have a turn.
It's great to hear your voice again. No matter what you do, it is okay if it's what you want to do as long as you're happy. Let's hear that convertible run now. lol. That would make you really happy. 😂
Hi Don, I'm glad that everything is alright. Hopefully we see more work on the convertible. It's good to hear that your brother is working on the 57 and getting things accomplished. With the weather getting colder it's going to be harder to get work done on the cars, I'm having some on the same issues myself , hay keep up with videos we all appreciate them 🏁
Hey Braddah Don I been using evaporust on rusty parts and it works well and you can reused it as needed ! You should just car cover the gasser nomad till you are getting to rebuild it ! Yes Camaro’s and Chevelle’s are nice but a Nomad Gasser is way cooler and Nomad are harder to find and very expensive ! Aloha from Texas 😃🤙🤙🤙
ya big don, its not over its just changing, you can have to many projects, i had a stroke last month and was in intensive care for a week, lots of bills and now my balance and vision is fucked, i still got my harley, i rode it around the neiborhood but not the big streets, i had to get the lawn mower serviced before winter and the emergency generator running and the snow blower, i am missing my old ways already, you just need to enjoy a couple of projects, to many is not good for having fun and living, your a cool dude
Wow, I forgot the '57 Nomad was originally Colonial Cream. My buddy at the end of my street with Nomads has a Colonial Cream and India Ivory '57 Nomad they've owned since '71. I totally get the direction on the '55 Gasser! I was just saying that I'm glad I was able to move because I now have a 3 car garage and my old one only held 2. It would have been tough trying to choose which one I would have kept outside for the past 2 years! I'm with you on the Camaro too. If you get it...great, if not, it wasn't meant to be. Honestly, a '70 454 Chevelle sounds more common or desirable so, maybe there's a better deal on a '70 Chevelle in the future. As long as you're still having fun is all that matters! Take care Don and thanks for another great video!
Hey Jeff! Yes I always thought that was a pretty color on 57s. Not sure what I'll do with the Gasser but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Your Buddy has some cool cars. Later man 👊
Hey Don! I'm like you. I want to keep them all. My biggest fear is that I'll end being that guy that doesn't get to every project and some of them end up rotting away when I should have sold it to someone else that would love it and bring it back to life. My new rule is I can't buy another project without first selling one. Keep the #'s manageable. LoL Of course flips are a different story. (loophole in my rule)
Don, those Tri-5s are yours, just like your soap and your lug nuts and you can wash them as fast as you want to!! Do what you want to do! If you want to melt it down and make a boat anchor out of it, it’s yours!
Always a pleasure to view your videos! I am of a same mind and approach as you to the cars. Everything you do I put myself in your place and I always do the same as you. I reckon we are cool dudes! Don, keep on keepin on!
I must have missed some of the comments on your last video. Yeah it's a bummer letting go of the 55 gasser Nomad but I think that if you can't get to it and fix it up then let it go to someone who would be thrilled to get it. At least you know that it went to someone else who will love it as much as you. My friend who sold me my 55 had been holding on to it for 15 years hoping to build it up as a gasser style car. He realized that he wasn't going to have the time to do it. When I told him my dream of doing it up as a gasser he knew that it would be loved. Sorry for rambling on. 😊
I had the same issues with my 55 ,had the car parked for years, bad brakes, misfires and a bad transmission mount, finally got everything situated, hopefully get the bel air going and running.
Hey Don very understandable we have to do what works for us so be happy and enjoy there is a couple of cars I got rite of but in turn I got the 1961 Biscayne that I wanted since High School and I am very Happy about that. Later Tony
Hey Don, that’s what I keep thinking, I know some of the tri 5’s you have picked up over the years , that makes the Nomad look pretty darn sweet, but it sounds like if it does go down the road you will get a pretty good amount for it, so how ever it turns out, it’s all good, have a great Sunday buddy😀😀
Thanks Mike! Yeah i have a hard to letting go anymore I guess. I just didn't want that engine in the car any longer. If it goes that's fine if it stays is fine as well. Have a good one Buddy
Hey Randy. I just checked out your channel. I would say that was a epic barn find on the Nomad. You really did good on that car. I seen there was a 4 speed laying outside the garage I hope you grabbed it on the deal. Your videos look good I would suggest to make it not for kids so you can get comments on the videos. That is if you want comments. Lol Also turn your phone sideways for the full view, you filmed it in vertical view. Later Man
@@donshotrodgarage1717 thanks for the help! I’m going to put the completed video together to get out Sunday. I really didn’t mean to post those yet. Still figuring this out. Check back Sunday. Yea. Got the camera thing confused. 😂

I'm surprised someone hasn't made you an ' Offer-you-Can't-Refuse ' for that 55 Nomad Gasser body & frame in the past 3 weeks. There isn't many (more like none) 55 Nomad's left to turn into a Crown Jewel Nomad.
I’ve taken rear leaf spring hangers off 2 different ‘55 frames (and they’re nice). If you need a pair (or just one side) let me know and I’ll give you a smoking hot deal.

Hey Don, when those fenders were on the Greenhorn Hillbilly those bracket were probably removed when TJ removed the inner fenders.
