- This is an HD Video Flight demonstration of a Van's RV-4 high performance single engine experimental aircraft. The RV-4, based in North Florida, was flown in January, 2017 over Lazy S Farm Airport. Three cameras were used to capture the action from the ground, the cockpit and the air (by Quadcopter) to provide the viewer the best flight experience.

I'm looking at an RV4. At 6' tall, will I fit in it comfortably? I know these are small, but can two average sized people fit?

Nice RV4. I'm flying a tailwheel 9 and I love it however I always thought the 4 was the best looking of the Vans line. Great camera work. Wish I was there right now instead of Indiana.
I have 350 hours of memories in an RV-4. I felt more confident when dealing with mountains and weather than flying any other aircraft. Power, control and center of the axis allow easy aerobatics. Too bad he insurance hot too high and I traded it for retirement. Living happily ever after ...

Good flying...not so good music.
I have seen some RV-4's and RV-8's with rear controls, can you see enough to fly it from the rear seat and have the passenger in front? I have flown some pretty blind airplanes (Pitts S-2B not much visibility)
(Mark, this is a reply from the RV4 pilot in the video) To Mark, I have only been on one flight in the back seat of my RV4 and visibility from the back depends somewhat on the size of the person in the front. The 4 has a relatively lower angle of attack while on the ground which assists in seeing over and around the nose. Hope this helps.

At first I thought you were asking about my Drone which has a top speed of about 30mph and will not keep up with any aircraft faster than perhaps a hot air balloon. I'll give you my answer as a student pilot, not the RV-4 pilot in this video, You may have noticed the sand patches on the runway, that and a little slow rudder response causes a bit of yaw. Hi Benny, thank you for your comments and question. The landing strip is approximately 2,000 ft in length. From the RV-4 specifications; Stall speed=54mph, Landing Distance= 300ft, and Takoff Distance=325ft, the approaches do look fast and the actual grass field safe landing and takeoff distances use much of that 2000 ft. In short, this aircraft is a fine performer, but it is not a STOL aircraft, ie. Just Aircraft SuperSTOL.
Well considering my Cessna 172 usual ground roll is between six and 700 feet, that is pretty good. Just out of curiosity how many acres do you need to have a 2000 foot grass strip?

I personally prefer some music more than others, but I don't believe this is the "Worst sound track ever or rubbish music" and the musicians who made it don't deserve your comment.
