  • Visit the islands of Bisan Seto, where there are no regular boats / Walk around the island village Seto Inland Sea Matsushima Muguchijima (Okayama Prefecture) Koyoshima (Kagawa Prefecture)
    Matsushima (Okayama Prefecture)
0.4 km from the mainland, the island is right in front of Mt. Washu, a scenic spot overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. It is also the smallest inhabited island in Okayama Prefecture. There are few flatlands, and there are settlements along the southern coast. The area around Matsushima has some of the best fishing grounds in the prefecture, and the fishing industry is the main industry. In the Middle Ages, a navy castle was built on the island, and it is said that the entire island was turned into a fortress. In the eastern part of the island is the Sumitomo Shrine, which is named after the Iyo pirate, Fujiwara no Sumitomo. Anglers are crossing from the mainland while looking at the Great Seto Bridge nearby. In 2018, the city renovated the former municipal Shimotsui Nishi Elementary School and Shimotsui Junior High School Matsushima Branch as one of the new attractive bases in Shimotsui.
    Mukuchi Island (Okayama Prefecture)
An island about 2km southwest of Shimotsui Port. Most of the terrain is steep, and most of the mountain forests are national forests. There are settlements on the flatlands in the north and along the ocean in the west. It is said that the name of the island comes from the fact that there are six valleys on the east bank, from Ichiban to Rokuban. A large number of Sanukite stone tools and Jomon-style earthenware have been produced from the island. At the beginning of the early modern period, the territory was disputed with the Shiwaku people, and in 1646, it became the Bizen territory, and the foot guard was placed as an island for tree planting and horse pasture. During the Tenwa era (1681-84), Shimamori came to the island and settled down. The granite is exposed, and the remains of the stone quarry from the restoration of Osaka Castle carried out by Tokugawa Kakufu from 1602 to 1628 remain. has also been discovered. In 1960, after the war, the population numbered 46. The west bank is a beach, and the National Natural Monument "Elephant Rock" at the southern end is one of the points of the Seto Ohashi Bridge Sightseeing Boat Course. The fishing industry and tourism service industry are the main industries, and tourists come to enjoy sea bathing, fishing, and seafood. There is a campground at the northern end, which is designated as Okayama Prefecture's "Youth Island".
    Oyoshima (Kagawa Prefecture)
An island made of granite, located about 11km north of Sakaide Port. It is included in the Setonaikai National Park. Settlement on the island began after the Meiji period, and the population increased from the Taisho period, when stone mining flourished. The main industry is quarrying, and at its peak, 18 stone material companies operated, but due to the depletion of resources, there are no companies currently operating. The scenery of the stone quarry, such as precipitous cliffs and ponds on the site, is a masterpiece. When the Seto Ohashi Bridge opened, there was a plan to turn the entire island into a leisure center, and the building of a resort hotel (closed) that was built at that time remains at the northern end. Sasa lilies, named for their resemblance to bamboo leaves, grow wild and are designated as a natural monument of Kagawa Prefecture. You can see the Great Seto Bridge from almost anywhere on the island.

    小与島の廃棄リゾートホテルまだ原型ありますね。少しは観光客訪れたのだろうか。丁場後を見ると島を削り取って行って生活の糧にし採石の撃退と共に去って行った住人はどんな気持ちが有るのだろう。
