I love copper, more than almost any metallic color, and I love to see the striations more than cells. Cells are nice, but I really like to see all the different colors as they streak across the painting, changing colors, and shades of colors. This one was really a surprise because I expected the copper to show up purple like it appeared in the cup. When it ended up more like the bottle, I was glad.
Mina, you are my absolute favorite. You help make this reality better!!! Thank you so much for being authentic and just freaking amazing 🤩 Also, thanks to the HOA and family for sharing you 🤗
Actually lately that has been my intention 😊 It's such a stressful time for everybody, I'm very happy that the videos are bringing a few minutes of relaxation or peace of mind ❤️ Please take good care of yourself
@@MinaVillegasArt thankyou so much for your comment Mina! 💜 they really are so lovely and relaxing! I love them anyway, but lately all more! 🙂 please take care of yourself too ok! Xo 🌺🌴
Mina, thank you for bringing back the flip cup technique. I love this painting!! Fabulous colors, and oh-ohhhh that amazing lacing and those contrasting cells!!!!! I'm so glad you stretched out that lacy area (#TheStretchingQueen!). And we can actually see the COPPER sheen in that Antique Copper that looks SO purple. It's great in this painting. Mina, you definitely inspire and reminded me that I can rediscover the joy and beauty of using the first technique I tried in fluid painting. And, as always, you did it with your wonderful sense of humor and laughter that totally cheered me up and left me smiling long after the video ended! Mina, I'm so happy FOR you that you are painting even when it's pouring rain, is super windy, or freezing cold (or all 3.....you crazy, color-obsessed woman, you!!!). You and your HoA are TOTALLY AMAZING and AWESOME to spend so much time creating beautiful art and producing these fabulous videos, especially now as you and your family are self-isolating. Your videos genuinely make a HUGE positive difference in the lives of so many people around the world! Thank you, to both of you, for making our long, isolated days so much brighter and cheerier!!! Big hugs ~Cheryl (and my HoA Mark, too)
Cheryl honey, thank you for your beautiful comment.. we are so happy that the videos are bringing a little bit of peace of mind or just a mini escape for people.. it's really scary out there now! I'm so thankful that I can keep working even in the midst of all this craziness, and that we all can still connect with each other here. My lovely friend Gail had posted the other day about going back to a simpler life and being grateful for the small things.. I so agree with her! The feeling of sunshine on your face, the taste of fresh fruit, a meal you cooked with your kids.. watching the trees form buds.. even rediscovering my girls and the amazing (but crazy) little people they have become. Gratitude for what we have, for our health, for our family and extended family.. I feel I've gotten to know a lot of our followers, and I care about them..like I really worry about what's happening where they are and how they are coping.. my goal has been to bring a little bit of laughter and some color and a few minutes of distraction from their worries. As far as I go, I *have to* paint.. I have all these colors swirling around in my head 😁 it's my happy place.. I am so blessed to have HoA here with me.. he's teaching me to edit lol and we have a horse to paint (lol you'll see 😂) We are keeping busy and rediscovering so many things in our lives that we didn't have time for before.. isn't the concept of "having time" a strange thing? LOL! I'm so glad that you enjoyed this video.. that makes me happy ❤️We can all get bogged down in color theory and different techniques and trying to make perfect cells.. but we forget that this is actually really FUN! Remember that joy the first time you flipped a cup over and saw cells there?? I was hooked from the very first ring pour 😁 We are off to go edit Sundays video.. and maybe do another pour lol🤪 take good care of yourself Sweetheart, and your Mark too. Big huge hugs right back to you!! ❤️❤️❤️
Awwww, Mina, you brought tears of joy to my eyes…thank you!!! You definitely are meeting your goals, hon, because with EVERY video, you bring us color, laughter, joy, distraction and relief from everyday life, and especially relief from the stresses of these most uncertain times! Even when you were painting during the fires and had to evacuate, you brought joy and comfort by the example you set. Yes, I know that painting helped YOU get through the awful waiting, but it helped others, too. You and Gail are so right about looking for and being grateful for the joys found in the little everyday areas of life. We believe in and follow that way of living, too. Those joys are everywhere, and they are so uplifting and inspiring! And it’s so effortless to find them in our own backyard, especially during Spring. I'm thrilled that you and your family are together, and you get to see, on a deeper level, who your girls are becoming. I believe that you are raising them to be good-hearted, caring, down-to-earth people just like you and your HoA. These pre-teen and teen years definitely are interesting (and I miss those years, now that my daughter is grown and has a new teen of her own!). Mina, I know you genuinely care about the followers you’ve gotten to know. *I* feel cared for by you! YT is far from perfect, but they’ve made it possible for like-minded people around the world to connect, and I’m incredibly grateful for that! I’ve made a few friends with some other viewers and a couple of artists on YT. And I found a soul-sister in Australia. She is totally amazing!! It’s impossible not to worry about these people we are connecting with, especially during these crazy times. And they worry about us, too. But I believe that we WILL get through this by supporting one another, and by continuing to enjoy and be grateful for what we have. I’m so glad that art is part of your life, Mina, and I absolutely understand that NEED to paint. WOW, you are amazing me again by learning how to edit. I'm sending you #HappyTechno-Thoughts! Ohhh, I can’t wait to see “the horse!!” When I was a teenager, we had loads of fun painting designs on our horses and then washing them off after the parade. I’m guessing that is NOT what you are doing. I’m smiling big right now just thinking about YOU laughing as you plan this surprise! Okay, my friend, I’m taking my happy face off to bed now. When this is all over, I’ll come pick up "Sea Dragon" and give you a super big hug. In the meantime, I’m keeping you folks in my prayers and sending you big online hugs! ~Cheryl
Wonderful !! This is a beautiful beach for my eyes !!! Turquoise ans white and gold there are magic together!!! Thanks for you ideas an what you showed for a learning period time !! Relaxing too !
We are so lucky to have your videos to watch while we are confined to our homes. South Africa goes into lockdown at midnight for 21 days so I have stocked up on canvas and paint. Zen is so laidback 😸
I'm so glad you're enjoying them Anale!❤️ We have been in a very similar situation for the last 12 days.. I don't think I've left the house in about 2 weeks lol It's the same all over the world.. Please take good care of yourself ❤️ I've got a great video coming out for the next one!! 😉
So pretty! At last I have the guts to do 1 flipcup, you did 5 !! 😱👌 Hope you and your family are in good health. Stay safe please! It’s becoming scary, this Corona virus. Even the Keukenhof will not open at all this year because of this terrible disease.
Gorgeous flip cup. Love the palette. You nailed on the tilt. Hooray you got your copper to reveal itself. As always great video with your humor and great instruction. Stay well and always happy.
Really liking the end results!! I agree, I love flip pours for the same reasons...ya never know what yur gonna get ("in a box if chocolates"😉) Very nice!!💜🌻
It's very helpful to see your technique while you tilt the canvas, and especially to have to tell us why you are doing specific moves. I'm a beginner and, of all the videos I've watched, yours are the best at teaching me about that aspect of the art. You are clearly a master at it and I love watching how easy you make it look! Thanks! BTW, great painting! And thanks also for the tip-and-drag technique
Today has been a bad day ... 3 fails waste of paint! But thats the learning process i guess 🤔 you inspire me in every video ... love you work absolutely beautiful 😚
I am so glad you didn't leave the lines straight. For me, the straight lines look so organized and the curved lines makes the paint more spontaneous. The last tilt you did was very nice though I really did like it before you did it. But it turned out beautifully and after all, that is the goal. It is super pretty.

I love that you mixed things up today and did a flip and drag! With NO silicone! I’ve been wanting to try Winsor and Newton paints and your pour inspired me even more (sounds like a song lyric). That Winsor blue is stunning! Mixing my paints and preparing my canvas right now! Stay safe!
Hi sweets.one more tilt always. We are never quite done with our art.haha.The colours are stunning .Ive missed some of these rechniques that I started with. The effect is vibrant and detailed

Wow the comp really changed with that last tilting.I love it. Turned out to be spectacular. Thanks for sharing your talents with us Mina. Stay well. Hugs to you :)
Love it! It really popped when you tilted the one side off, which I knew you’d do bc if the paint’s still moving, you keep tilting & that’s how you get amazing cells! I prefer natural cells so much more than silicone cells.
Wholly wow! I love the lacing on the one side. Really gorgeous, it has an organic vibe happening. I'm not allowed to do flip cups... 😂😂😂😮 It's too hard cleaning paint from stainless steel... And yes I totally missed the canvas 😁😂 Thank you for sharing your talent ❤️💕 Stay healthy and well.
Mina, it is so lovely love all the white through this with the lines of color stretching through the painting the natural cells to me are the best cells? Beautiful, it’s all gorgeous love , love , love it !! I love the Windsor newton paints also the are creamy and just look at the result!! Thanks Mina for still supporting all of us through out this world, greatly appreciated!!! Big hugs too you for all you do!!! Thanks 🥰👍
Thank you Lisa ❤️ I wanted to ask you if the subtitles were working on the last few videos.. I've been checking and it shows auto generated subtitles on my end, do you see them too? I hope you guys are taking good care and staying busy ❤️
Mina, yes , yes thank you so much Mina !! It’s hard when you death and love art so much you want to hear every word ! But when you can see what’s being said it means so much !!! Greatly appreciated, sorry to have bothered you about it but right now I am constantly watching you and the few others to keep mind off everything!!! Thanks you so much sweetie!! Yes taking best as I can I self isolated myself 3 weeks ago because of my health issues , I pretty much have to stay isolated, been battling with my diebetic issues with my fingers for one year now and I am on healing right when this outbreak happen , so it really scares me even more ? But having you all to lean on has been the best therapy I could ever ask for , am so excited that I actually got to pour a painting a few nights ago !! But watching is so relaxing and it heals with healing not being stressed !!! I think about you all everyday all day !! The first thing I don’t when I wake is to see if you and few more has posted a video and when I see it , it relaxes my mind knowing everyone is ok !! Not to say I am not worried about the world, God yes I worry and pray for everything to please come to a end and get this world reunited as a healthy world 🌎 once again !! ❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️
I love the flip and drag technique. It's quite a while that i did this. Your pour inspired me 😊 Your 'copper in the clouds' is a beauty ♥️ I have the deep turquoise from W&N but, yours is more a lighter deep turquoise!?
I love this one! I love the effects that the DecoArt Americana Satin Enamel gives. Unfortunately, here in Canada I’m having troubles getting it. Can you suggest something else that might give similar effects to the Satin Enamel?
Hi Elaine! That's a great question! I try to repair any areas that I've touched while they're still wet.. and once I put it down in my studio I try not to touch it at all until it's dry. Mostly I handle it by the push pins that I put in the back, you can find them on Amazon under giant push pins and I recommend that you use some kind of small rubber mallet or small hammer to put them in. If I am touching the frame of the canvas I'm touching the underside of it not the outside of it.. I hope this makes sense ❤️ Thank you so much for watching
That came out super cool. Question- do you varnish your work or do you let the varnish in your pouring medium take its place? Love seeing your kitties, too. 😻
Hi Mary Jane! I use the Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish because it has the varnish in it.. meaning I don't need to apply any additionally unless I want to. The LGM&V dries with a beautiful luster to it.. its not super shiny, which to me means there won't be a glare on it when it's hanging up. If I have something that I do want more shine on I have been using Krylon UV Resistant Archival Spray Gloss. I like to work on big canvas, and varnishing something big is not my idea of fun. Great question! Have a beautiful day!
Mina Villegas Art Hi - thanks so much. That makes a lot of sense. I do big canvases also and the varnish part can be a real pain. I’m going to try your technique. 👍🏻😀
Hi Mina I absolutely love your work and try to do the same colours but I can never get the same vibrancy as you do - my colours fade even that's not the right word they are just dull and dark. I follow your PM. Any suggestion would help greatly. Thanks Kaye
Hi Kaye! You can try adding a little more paint to your pouring medium if something is not as dark or deeply colored as it should be. Add the extra paint before the Floetrol so you don't get lumps. Also please keep in mind that I try to show you guys the dried pieces in full sunlight outside, they don't always show up as bright inside a house unless they have a light on them. You could also try putting on a layer of spray varnish to bring out some of the sparkle and some of the depth to the colors..that should help. Lately I've been using Krylon's UV Resistant Archival spray Gloss.. you can get it on Amazon or at Home Depot. Let me know how it goes! 🌷
🚨🚨I am eager for cells like yours to come out and I have not yet been successful. I don't know if I'm doing the mix wrong, but they don't come out. Maybe it's the satin enamel color that creates them. 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🚨
What technique are you doing? If you want cells try pouring your paint from higher up, if you pour it too close to the canvas it's not going to create any cells. Try a straight pour.. Just be careful of the amount of paint you use so that you don't end up tipping off all the cool cells. Use a smaller amount of paint so then you can stretch them out and the cells will stay 😉
Hi Mina. The technique that I use is the "Flip Cup" with DecoArt & CraftSmart Paints with DecoArt Pouring Medium (1: 1 Ratio) each color. Next time I'm going to try it, I'll do it 1 part paint 2 parts DecoArt Pouring Medium to see if it works for me.
I swear tilting is your superpower💪 supernatural tilting abilities!💪
😂🥰😊❤️🤪🌷

I’m glad you heard me about adding a stripe in the center. I guess there was no more turquoise? 🤪 yay you brought back the turquoise!
Love the flipping action, now how about a big,big canvas or a door never seen a door being done.
I love the flip and drag technique. It's quite a while that i did this. Your pour inspired me 😊
Your 'copper in the clouds' is a beauty ♥️
I have the deep turquoise from W&N but, yours is more a lighter deep turquoise!?
Gorgeous...and loved “elemental alchemy” as well!
I love this one! I love the effects that the DecoArt Americana Satin Enamel gives. Unfortunately, here in Canada I’m having troubles getting it. Can you suggest something else that might give similar effects to the Satin Enamel?
Absolutely gorgeous! Another masterpiece. How do you handle the sides and repair any bald spots or places that are touched?
❤
😍😍😍😍🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
@@MinaVillegasArt Thanks Mina I will give this a try.
A front door.
did you use silicone at all?
No I don't like cleaning it off my paintings.. I don't use it
@@MinaVillegasArt I wondered because yours are so large and cleaning would be hard
PLEASE DON’T LEAVE YOUR HOUSE UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO. MASKS ARE ALL WELL AND GOOD BUT THEY DON’T GIVE TOTAL PROTECTION.
Hi Jenni 😊 I have not left my house in over 14 days .. we are being very safe. Please take good care of yourself 🙏
Gorgeous!
