Hi everyone! Looking forward to trying a Live session with you guys. Let me know your availability and any subjects you like me to cover or questions you'd like answered in the sessions!
Fantastic! My time zone is 7 hours earlier than yours. California. PDT. My best times would be rather late for you. I'll just check in to see when you will be doing this, and i can hopefully adjust my schedule to join. Thanks Paul!
Hey Dc! :) That's no probs, tell me your best times anyway just in case. If you let me know something you'd like me to cover at least if you miss it live there will be something in there for you when your able to watch it back. :)
@@PaulHaywood Most excellent. Besides holding a wobble high C#, --- i know thumb power, it would be great if you can advise on that ans also reed strength, and perhaps brands. I currently play with D'Addario Jazz Select. 2M and 2H. I like a warm,, bright ballsy tone, but not too muted. Does that make sense? =D Thank you Paul.
Improvising, improvising and more improvising please! I'm an intermediate player who can read music fairly well. I play in a big band, but I simply can't improvise! Take the music away and I sound like a complete beginner! Please help !
Hi Paul, Your lesson helping me learn and improve my Sax playing. Thank you for that. Please see the one I tried playing and comment for my improvement.
Hi Paul, would like to know more on the most practical way to adapt to different tone reverberation in different environments, what sounds good in the practice room can sound thin and dull out in the open! How do you adapt?
Hi Visionventure. Yes it can be frustrating when you play in different settings where the acoustics arent as good. I find playing outside not amplified is the worst. Something very helpful someone told me is to always imagine yourself projecting your sound a long physical distance in front of you. For playing in really dull situations there is a plastic bounce back device that you clip to the bell of your sax to bounce the sound back to you. Sounds gimmicky but they do work quite well actually. :)
Hello...Paul...i am a big fan of yours...I'm from india, so our timezone is a little bit different...so i think i can adjust to your schedule... I would like to know about the mouthpiece which is good for different genre...and also Tips & Tricks...thank you
Wow Great!!🙌I have been a fan for a while now...Weekends from around 12:00 noon to maybe 17:00 in the evening GMT. Topic: I would love if you could talk about Tips & Tricks to sound better at Improvising.
Hi Emmanuel! Thanks for letting me know those times. Yes i'd like to talk about some improvising tips. Great idea. Thanks for commenting and watching my videos! :)
@@PaulHaywood Anything, Paul . You always give great advice. For me I struggle to hit the low C# and high D on alto , especially with new or higher strength reeds. Even when I do the sound isn't great. Also slurring down (like in the Pink Panther track). Seems to be no advice on it anywhere.
Ok so As to when I would be free .. obviously weekends would be best but any evening with notice .. if you can make time to help us then I can certainly make time to listen ... as for what I need to be learning .. I’ve thought about it and I need to get into the mental side of improvising. As in what to think about whilst improvising ... I think I’m trying to think of too many things and it makes the solo confused and rushed. So I’m am very interested in what actually goes through the mind of a good sax player while instantly creating. Hope that makes sense
I know you did this but I didn't quite understand how to growl... Plus that tonguing technique you kinda lost me 😂😂💔... Also how to improvise... I need to work especially on that area
@@PaulHaywood hi Paul Great idea Weekends are good for me personally and to work on a few of your licks too. Ideally if we can try both Tenor and Alto would be a brilliant. Thanks
