I was 19 when I discovered them. It was 1995 and my best summer ever. They were coming to play a festival in Lisbon and "Honey White" and other songs were getting played on indie radio. I was a dedicated metalhead, but who could resist that groove?! Anyway, I saw them play and they were great. Unassuming but charismatic as hell. Mark won all our hearts by speaking a few words of Portuguese as he had learnt it in Brazil. I had to dig around a little but I found and bought "Yes" and played it so so many times. Love every single song to this day. I went on to discover all their other albums and they never left me. "In Spite of Me" is probably my favorite Morphine song. Like the band themselves, so discreet yet so deeply affecting.
That Candy Bar song ended up on the Like Swimming album. Love this band, I was lucky enough to see them live in Oslo on the Like Swimming tour, must have been around 97-98. This bands music has followed me since mid nineties. Thanks for this documentary, and thank you Morphine for the music. Never forgotten, forever loved.
I went to see orchestra morphine not knowing he had passed. I was very emotional. I could see and feel the emotions of Dana, I felt such confusion but empathy. Probably the most raw and emotional show I've ever been to. Remember grasping he was gone when Dana dedicated repeatedly honoring "The songs of Mark Sandman". I feel greatly for his loving girlfriend and friends. RIP Mark.
Fantastic documentary. I remember the first time I heard Morphine…which isn’t something I can say about many bands. I was immediately captivated by their sound. I agree with the comment about describing their sound..you just have to hear them .
@@Fasnic Cool..they were such a great band. Losing Mark was a very sad day for music. I so badly wish they had a longer career. I can only imagine what they would have created. Truly original.
Morphine was a big part of my teens, when I was discovering different types of music, and when I was soul searching and trying to find out who I am as a teen. Great music, lots of drugs and party's. R.I.P Mark, I will never forget u my friend. 🙏🇺🇲🗽🇺🇲🙏

I remember mine too... I got my 2 college roommate hooked on them, I'd come back from class and my stereo would be cranked playing A Cure for Pain

@@freehahahafree as what a great album The Night is, one can only imagine what we all missed. I just wish The Night was available on vinyl
@@Fasnic Huh…I didn’t realize that it wasn’t available on vinyl. Do you have their other albums on vinyl? Now you got me thinking…
@@freehahahafree Cure for Pain is incredible on vinyl!
There's really no way to understand what Morphine sounds like except to hear it. Great documentary.
I like every song of theirs I ever heard. Mark was super talented

Interesting...Thank You Bye JeanFrancois
A great band. I thought they were local to Cambridge/Boston MA. Glad they got national exposure.
international exposure
Yes, but that insane touring schedule ultimately killed Mark,
