I've always liked the Model K. When I was in music school....many eons ago! I was assigned a practice room with an old Model K. The tuners liked the piano as much as I did and did a super job of keeping it going. Thank you.
I have a 1905 Vertegrand, which was the model designation before it changed to the K52. It is nearly identical, except without the folding front panel. The front panel on the Vertegrand is completely removable, however. The top panel hinges open on both as well.
Here is some history on the Model K or "Vertegrand": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steinway_Vertegrand And here is a video by Spitfire Audio of what the 1905 Vertegrand used by The Beatles at Abbey Road studios sounds like: ua-cam.com/video/w9-3E9qLmiM/v-deo.html That piano was a Hamburg model with rounded corners at the keyboard. New York models have square corners. Spitfire has created a plug-in recreation of this piano.
@@fanach Some uprights have three pedals where the middle pedal is used to lower a piece of felt in front of the hammers to mute the sound. Doesn’t totally mute the sound but does make it much lower. Alternatively the middle pedal is sometimes used to raise only the bass dampers so you can have sustain in your left hand but not in your right hand playing. With a grand piano the middle pedal is almost almost for Sostenuto function. This allows only one note be sustained as opposed to all notes using the right pedal.
Uprights have a warm and cozy presence like a fireplace. And this one sounds great, too.
It's a beautiful sound, I prefer it's sound over a grand piano
@@ElectronicaAvanzadaPrismaCem I first learned to play on an old upright.
The Mozart sounds fantastic!!! and of course, was expertly played!
What a gorgeous instrument! You're doing great work restoring and making people aware of these beauties.
I recommend this piano for everyone. Long tone and rich sounds.
Robert, here in Brazil i restored -with your help -my grand mother 1911 model K. Its really gorgeous! Tks!
Lovely sound indeed! Like a vertical grand piano! 👏👏👏
That is well rebuilt instrument with a great sound. Wouldn't mind having one in my living room to play some of Bach's classical Fugues and Preludes.

So different to see you in front of an upright, Robert! She sounds very clear for an instrument of her age.
Beautiful Music. Big sharp sound
Impressive range you can bring out ofa vertical piano. Marvelous sound and play.
Pre-1900's: Now those are the gems! ;P
A talent I wish I had, fantastic
Thanx, Maestro 🌹🌹🌹
Lol tuned a Steinway like this from 1930 just today. Looked so similar
Nice piano!

Gorgeous!
Beautiful!!
Love it
I have a twin to that from 1885 sitting in my garage. I saved it from a guy that was going to throw it on his burn pile.
Does it still play?🎹🎶
why do some upright have 2 pedals?
Left is the soft pedal(moves the hammers closer to the strings) Right pedal is the sustain pedal (lifts all the dampers off the strings)
@@iandalton9179 yeah but the newer pianos have 3 pedals

This is similar to the Steinway uprights on the Titanic.
I believe Titanic had four or five Steinway k uprights onboard, and a Steinway model b drawing room grand in the reception room.
Gorgeous !
