Fun review of this episode, plenty to talk about. Oy....no apologies from Leah. Grrrrrr. None needed at all there from her. Thanks @The7thRule ! ❤💛💙🤓🖖🏾
I enjoyed the review and FFA comments a great deal more than the episode, which I agree wholeheartedly (with Mal'issa and others) does Geordi a disservice. Maybe this kind of story would've better been for Barclay, dealing with holo-addiction and making use of Dwight Schultz's comedic chops?
Ensign Rager is one of the few random crew of the week people I remember. She's in Schizms in season 6. That episode is one of the episodes that was pushing me in the season 6 over season 4 direction. She almost dies and Riker has to save her. So yeah.....I remember her.
Great review of this very weird episode. Space whale hunting, baby space whale saving, Geordi getting busted for his holodeck Leah by the real one, Worf getting shot down for his basic space safety advice, Picard recklessly putting the Enterprise at risk because he wants to "get close" in space - crazy and fun all in one!! Thank you go Cirrroc, Ryan and the Associate Producers in the FFA for their takes and understanging. I'm still up in the air on whether it is Space Raviolis or Space Calzones. Gotta be a tasting to be sure!! ONE LOVE #ChatPack, The Next Generation of #ChatPack!!
I had seen both. I remembered her. I was a kid but I liked her a lot. I had a number of synthesized songs on my commodore 64. Sometimes the songs were copied and the instruments were changed. One of them was by Brahms. I didn't know who Brahms was at the time. So seeing a star trek character "named" after a song on my C64 seemed interesting. But I would have liked her even without that connection.
I was kind of hoping that Matt would talk about the remastering. I don't remember if it was an issue before or not, but in the holodeck the double Leah scene is blurry as hell. The background is fine, but the 2 leahs are super blurry. I figured if anything they could have helped fix that a little bit in the remastering. But I don't remember if it was like that before or not.
oh......I definitely. remember this episode. It was in my list of why I bought season 4 instead of season 6. Keep in mind the list was almost tied. In fact I forgot to check which episode it was going to be this time. I said.....lets see how long it takes to figure it out. About 30 seconds. My record is 1 single frame on "Time Squared". lol I was visiting a friend. He was playing that episode and it was paused. It took me about 10 seconds to figure it out, but I only got 1 frame. My friend was impressed. lol To be fair it was video from the shuttle that was all blurry and distorted. That was the key give away.
Susan Gibney was considered to play Janeway. I have to wonder how that would have gone. She would have been amazing for sure. But it would definitely have changed the character. I don't think she would have had the same warm motherly vibe I got from Mulgrew.
the c-section scene was new footage. The rest of it was not. They had real physical models of those creatures shot the same way the enterprise was. They used that. They only had to do the birth scenes in CG. It was CG back then too, but all of that was lost. So it had to be recreated. The new version is faithful to the original.
While I'm mostly Geordi is in the wrong, one thing I don't understand is I felt like there were times to call him out for flirting. But when she calls him out for flirting, I didn't feel like he was flirting. He said we can be friends. I felt like there were a few flirting moments, but that wasn't one of them.
I actually caught an interesting error in this episode in the technobabble. The mentioned the creature had grown in size by some odd number of millions of cubic meters. ummmm......if it was that big it would make the enterprise look microscopic. The enterprise is less than 1000 cubic meter in size. They really messed up on that one.
@@awilliams1701 2.9 million I can believe, just not 1000. Your point is still valid though. Also the shape of the ship is not really an ideal solid, so its length in m is gonna be pretty big compared to its volume in cubic m.
Poor Geordie! This episode does not make him look good. I am not sure if this episode was meant to be a lesson in not confusing fantasy and reality, the dangers of AI, or as Faith Howell suggested, a commentary on Star Trek fan hero worship. There was some pretty toe-curling cringe (No, Geordie. Leah does not want to come to your quarters - She. Does. Not. Know. You) I don't know why Geordie was annoyed with the ensign for telling Leah about the holodeck program - unless it's because she's been damaging the computer interface by using it like a manual typewriter. I certainly don't think Leah should have apologized, she didn't do anything wrong. Geordie had opportunity to explain the use of the holodeck program to her - or he could have deleted it when it wasn't needed anymore. I actually enjoyed the performances of Levar Burton and Susan Gibney together. I thought they both dealt with the techo-babble very well. Why didn't the computer tell Geordie that Leah Brahms was married? Because the computer wanted to flirt with Geordie. That's what I think anyway. 🖖
Fun chat (despite a few cringey moments in the episode) and fun FFA -- thanks @The 7th Rule !
LMAO when I was a kid I took Guinan literally. OMG HE HAS A VISOR THAT MAKES HIM SEE WHATEVER HE WANTS?!?!?!?!? That's so COOL!!!!
my 2 favorite compilations are worf gets rejected and sisko gets angry. lol

....wait.......what did Ensign Pavlik do? All she did was show brahms a file that I'm assuming she knew nothing about.
oh you mean literally. Yeah....I didn't notice that. lol

Very good
Warf needed a "Behind enemy lines" style story on a Jem'Hadar controlled planet, where he mercs a bunch of baddies until the ds9 nerds can save him.
❤

lol actually in an alternate future Geordi is her husband. But the current one? nope!

1000 cubic meters would be 10 m x 10 m x 10 m. Enterprise has got to be way bigger than that.
@@leighwooddudash8925 I think it was 46 million cubic meters though.
@@leighwooddudash8925 yeah 42.1 million cubic meters.
The ship is apparently 2.9 million cubic meters. so.........yeah........

touchscreens did exist back then, but they sucked.
